  1. To be honest, I’m not sure if noise makes a difference. Even if your on your own with no one to talk to, and tip toe around the warrens when setting the nets, the rabbits still know your there. I’ve been with several people, with dogs and plenty of noise etc, and rabbits still bolt. I’ve also been as quiet as a mouse on my own and had to dig several times in a day.
  2. Load of bollox. Most decent ferrets are out working every weekend anyway, so it’s irrelevant where they are kept in the week. Some will even be out midweek too.
  3. 13 generation!! Ya f****r that must go back 60 odd years
  4. I’m in Lincolnshire and the numbers are very Low here. Some fields that’s used to have them have zero rabbits now. You’ve only got to drive around at night and realise how few are on the road verges. 10 years ago, every roundabout and main road, held 100’s at a night time. Now I don’t see any. Such a shame really
  5. It’s nice to see a spotless run.. the amount of people who take a picture with piss n shit everywhere is staggering. The mum and pups look in great condition.
  6. What about a really racey coursing type bitch. There a bit more athletic than a greyhound so hopefully the pups would be a bit less cloddy
  7. You must of been in the wolds more than the fens. It can be a bit flinty in the hills
  8. I thought it was a roe, but after looking on google images it probably is a munty.
  9. Just seen this while out ferreting..a bit late to be born don’t you think
  10. Is coz all the women in Skeg sin summer are from Sheffield and Nottingham ?. but on a serious note, it’s a ferreting buddy I’m after. There thin on the ground in hare coursing country
  11. I’m pretty sure it’s not bred as a lamping dog though, same as a saluki cross is not bred for rabbits and a bull cross is not bred for hares. Horses for courses
  12. If it’s a pet, then obviously a greyhound sanctuary. You can have your pick from over 40/50 dogs at any given one.
  13. I would just drive over and have a night out. Treat it as a road trip
  14. Do you not think you would dilute the pointer blood down too much though. The idea of the cross would be its hunting ability. Mind you it would still be a 1/4 gwp
  15. Can’t believe no one has snapped your hand off. If I was getting another pup, I’d be over in a flash. Fingers crossed the right person comes along
  16. I like the sound of that. Most Lurcher’s I’ve had will follow a sent if there’s something about, but they don’t offen go searching for sent, like the way a spaniel goes or probably a pointer too (I’ve never actually seen a pointer work in the flesh, only on you tube.) When game is thin on the ground a dog that’s looks for sent would be great.
  17. Nice dog. Would you say he hunts better and uses his nose more than your average lurcher?
  18. I think there could be great hunting dogs, but like most crosses, the first cross wouldn’t be the perfect finished article. Take saluki crosses for instance, the best dogs aren’t first crosses, but the best line bred dogs are now pretty perfect at what there designed to do. The same could happen with gwp and lab crosses. 20 years of breeding the best to the best would create some crackers I think.
  19. Looks great. My favourite type of hunting. I’d love that to be on my doorstep
  20. Do Glens differ much to a wheaten terrier much? Are they a bit smaller? What would make you choose a Glen rather than a wheaten terrier? I’ve never seen either work, or in the flesh, so genuinely interested.
  21. I’ve never had a problem in 30 years of keeping dogs together
  22. I’ve always had coursing dogs until now, and they will hunt and kill almost anything. They hunt up too, but I’ve never had one that was a natural retriever though.
