Either way, sort the wiring out where it goes into the handle or it will pop out.

Nice fulmars....I've hunted on very similar terrain myself. To be honest I was a bit scared to slip the dog...lol

why not just get an IR trigger, that kind of thing isn't expensive anymore....

Neil, I think you might be mistaken. That photo was outed as a fake as the wolf was, in fact, a hired tame animal. It wasn't a trail cam that took the picture, it was a rigged multiple flash set-up to freeze the wolf as it jumped over a wooden latted 'gate'. trail cams do not have the quality yet, but they are superb for watching shy animals and I use them extensively. In future years the pixels will become better andthey will be of the same quality as todays top DSLR's in my opinion. That pic posted will not have been from a trail cam as the action isn't blurred, with a trailcam the shutter

I've netted hares both day and night using traditional gate nets and smaller mini longnets that i set a yard out of the gate so the hare went under the gate at full speed and didnt see the net. Those were always the best sort, much better than those that get draped over the gate like you see in the staged photos. I've done my fair share of long netting for relocation, but the best day was one where I was paid handsomely to net a few hares for the film industry.....could do with a job like that every month The thing with sacks is that there will be alot more stress than when using the pro

Mandarin Ducks Legal Or Not
J Darcy replied to the monkey's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
It's a funny one this.... the mandarin is not protected by any act. However, it is also not on the quarry list. -
Live Trapping Squirrels
J Darcy replied to Coursing mad 24's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
IMO no matter how much natural food is about they cannot help themselves when theres a supply of peanuts. I've trapped lots during the summer months and they cannot resist the peanuuts. JMHO> -
Rooks Interested In Nests In Winter.

I saw a peacock butterfly today. The animals are all confused, what with all this heat and sunshine. We need the mercury to plummet and some hard frosts to greet us in the morning. I don't complain when theres -10 on the thermometer.....Though I must confess i feel very sorry for the snipe and water rails in those conditions... -
If a dog is getting plenty of work it doesn't matter how much it eats. The simple answer is to feed a little less in the short term and give the dog alot more work and/or exercise.

Lots and lots of grey areas.... better for us I guess.

I would think that if you change the dimensions, or the design of the trigger mechanism then the trap would be considered different than the STAO...... Oh, I've just got a Bellisle 110 here and it's the nicest BG i've handled....to all intents and purposes it is identical to the BMI 110 apart from a different dog, would this be classes as a 'clone'?

A Great Deal On Genuine Mk4 & 6 Fenns .......
J Darcy replied to socks's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
There's going to be a spring trap on the market soon that will be cheaper and just as effective as the kania mate. it also has it's own built in cubby so can be sited almost anywhere. -
A Great Deal On Genuine Mk4 & 6 Fenns .......
J Darcy replied to socks's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I didn't do that experiment mate. but i would assume I would have had the same results....I think the MK4 is underpowered, whatever type. Today I only really use the MK6 unless i specifically have to use a smaller trap. It's only my opinion though.... -
A Great Deal On Genuine Mk4 & 6 Fenns .......
J Darcy replied to socks's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I disagree Eddie, but it's each to their own. When you do two hour checks then the truth comes out. Last season i did a little experiment with the Mk4's. I checked about every two hours and the amount of live catches was staggering. These were perfect catches as i had used guide sticks and with a perfect snug roof to the cubby. No doubt if I'd have checked the traps once a day as is required by law the squirrels would have been dead, but it's the fact that they would have taken long to die. That's just my opinion though....good hunting....JD -

A Great Deal On Genuine Mk4 & 6 Fenns .......
J Darcy replied to socks's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Why use a lower powered fenn when you have a solway? Imbra's are lovely, but hard, and expensive, to find. I've only got about a dozen.....fitted some new springs to them and they're sweet as a nut. -
Whilst the MK 4 is legal, it does not make it 'humane'. IMO they struggle to kill adult squirrels, even with perfect strikes. I have spent a hell of a long time studying the kill rates using film footage and i have to say that the Fenn 4 is innadequate for a quick, humane kill on a squirrel. The Solway Mk4 is better but neither are a patch on Mk6's. i would say it is only a matter of time before the 4's are taken off the STAO. there are other traps coming through soon that are much better....... JMHO...

Solway are twice the trap IMO....much more powerful. I would be testing them both before buying such a quantity. ...
