  1. Canadian made, this Bg is much bigger than our 110's and obviously designed for bigger critters. Unlike our BG the trap suitcases onto the unfortunate victim. Just thought i'd post the pics in case anyone had any interest.....JD
  2. I've got a ferret kit bigger than that thing! Darcy you'll know when you have a big one just stick it next to your nose, if it's similar you've got yourself a whopper ! ha ha , you're just gutted that you missed the prime fur with the last one you caught. Amateur mistake.
  3. There's one going through the approval process at the mo ( I believe) called the Koro, the way it's designed is flawed and will result in many foul catches....... Other traps that need taking off the list is the sawyer vermin . IMO. Aside from those i think the Fenn Mk4 is a terrible trap, too weak to be of use on squirrels IMO. The DOC trap is a total waste of time, poorly thought out and of very limited use. It's a bit like having a falcon with clipped wings! it would be a great trap if more thought was given to the legal stipulation of the tunnel. then there's the 'catch alive' mol
  4. Best book of all is A Poachers Tale by f j speakman.......don't know how many times i read it as a boy................
  5. Then mine will be swallowing 5oz lol and are you allowed to weigh with the trap intact?....... im sure i had some 330 bodygrips somewhere I got some 660's............
  6. what if mine swallow eels that have 4oz of lead in them??? ha ha
  7. Very nice.....that stags a beaut, but I reckon he'll be even bigger next year.
  8. Got a good sized dog mink today. I will try and weigh him tomorrow. Maybe we should have a competition for heaviest mink this season?
  9. I am confused, why would any living animal..humans included, be happy to be "broken"I see you haven't explained the methods you use to "break a dog". Maybe best you keep it to yourself don't be a tit mate some gundog trainers used to use their methods to break exceptionally stuborn dogs with great results me on the otherhand I don't need to, I'm pretty good when it comes to training dogs With all due respect, you cannot compare the saluki lurchers to gundogs. The methods used on gundogs will not get you anywhere with a saluki lurcher. IMO.
  10. If you feed cooked bones you run a very real risk of injury of the stomach/intestine mate. I would only feed raw bones. Not worth taking the risk...
  11. Could anyone find and post this information please. Thanks.
  12. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25m-30m-Tiger-Tail-0-7mm-Very-Strong-Plastic-Coated-Silver-Grey-Wire-4105-/141133735244?pt=UK_Crafts_JewelleryMaking_GL&hash=item20dc39e54c Something like this I've used. I crimp using pike fishing crimps, and then bend the crimp to get the best closing loop. For squirrels i don't recommend loading the snare. just my own preferance.
  13. Heritage so are you saying that both squirrels and rats can be whip snared, ? or snared with a snare that will 'hang' them? legally.
  14. Yes. But 0.6 x7 strand would be a hell of a lot more! 4.2. Or am I reading that totally wrong and J Darcy means 7 stranded plastic coated wire, totaling 0.6? I meant 7 strand wire, that is 0.6 thick.....sorry for not being clear.I have seen brass snap with rats and more so with squirrels.
  15. I would try some plastic coated 0.6 7 strand steel for the rats..... BASC won't have replied because they probably won't know the answer.
  16. That will be because they're loaded. Totally different to rabbit snares and made out of different material too...IMO.
  17. It's amazing the responses.... Clearly there's many people who do not understand bowhunting. As it happens I do not agree with bowhunting the larger pachyderms, for the simple reason that there is a good chance of hitting a rib and they can't be broke with an arrow. BUT agree with bowhunting everything else. I hope no one on here thinks elephants are rare? They're actually over-populated....
  18. Bows are brilliant. be it recurve, compund or long. I've never gotten on with crossbows. For many years bowhunting was pushed in the Uk, to be legalised by a license but it all came to no avail. Sadly. Shooting flying quarry is very difficult and requires a very good hand/eye co-ordination. I myself could never get to that level due to my dominant eye not being in co-ordination with my dominant hand. The arrows for birds are different to 'standard' arrows, and are often called fufu arrows, their fletching is designed to 'burn out' within thirty or forty yards and bring the arrow to a con
  19. Rear them like any other lurcher. They are a one man dog, and once they are your pal then there's nothing you can't do with them... It's all about forming a bond, not being rough with them and then getting through the adolescence stage. IMO
  20. I saw her run.She looked a nice bitch to me.

    Shifts

I used to work rotating shifts, lates, earlies, nights= and it really knocks you out. Took me about a year before i could actually feel my bodyclock getting back on track. Shifts cause many medical problems and stress too. I'm surprised they haven't tried to ban them!
