I know it's not daytime lurcherwork, but the hardest photos to take, IMO, are lamping shots. They are just impossible. There's many things to complicate matters, the camera often doesn't like to focus in the dark, you've got to be very near to the action, the shot's got to be composed and then the flash has got to freeze the action as well. It was always my biggest challenge, and time after time I failed. I don't know how many attempts, and how many failed photos, many thousand I would think. I got there in the end but it's taken a quarter of a century i reckon, good job I wasn't in any rush!

Has anyone noticed anything out the lead male hare?

This is my latest thing ....it's a photo on a huge aluminium sheet, over 4 foot long. I've had a couple done as experiments for the house, just to see what the photos look like on different materials.....Also had acrylics done too and they look nice. They're not cheap but they do look the part........this is a shot that is going to be in a future book, hence the watermark, of four males chasing a female that is coming into heat. Actually theres five males but i cropped one out.

Hi, i have a few more that might get the pulse racing for the next one,,,,,,,,,,,, for me, i love the hare seated pics...

its looks like a Belgium hare ? I wish I could take pics like that..I find myself in a position to be able to get great actions shots..but the Iphone just doesn't seem to capture it...lol Its an irish hare mate.......they are released for muzzled greyhounds to run. According to folklore lol the white hare was an easy assignment for a lurcher and with the Irish Hare being a sub species of the White Hare does it also mean these were easy pickings for an average type of dog? Genuine question for those who have ran all three "brown, white & irish" ..ive not seen let alone ran an irish

Well Neil, who knows about the Park side of things, but I would say that within the decade it might be gone. All depends on what the government thinks I guess. I have many photos like that of brown, blue and Irish hare being coursed on their own turf, but they are never 'easy' to get. To get one good coursing shot is lucky....to get hundreds ain't lucky. When those captive hares are released in the 'park' i dare say that getting photos like that are not too difficult. Then there's the Waterloo Cup, again, if the photographer is in the correct position then shots shouldn't be too difficult...

A well composed shot, but I'd be more impressed if the hare was truly wild.....I think this photo could be historical in a few years time as I do think that Park 'Coursing' won't be around forever. I use the term 'coursing' in its loosest possible sense...JMO....JD

Working Out Percentage Of Blood In Crossbred Dogs
J Darcy replied to jhk64's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
If you used a full whippet the pups would be 1/8 greyhound, 7/8 whippet..... If you used a full greyhound the pups would be 5/8 greyhound, 3/8 whippet. -
Tension the wire so that it fires at the slightest touch. I use a screwdriver, but some use a six inch nail. The tension imparted will hold the loop at the desired angle and will only fire once the bottom loop is touched. That's what loaded is.
