  1. I had a day of fishing yesterday on a large stillwater that hasn't really been coarse fished much before. I targeted perch with a variety of soft lures and ended with four, the biggest was 3lb 8 ozs and a real beauty. The photo doesn't do it justice. However, I lost well over £50 worth of lures as this water is unbelievably snaggy. Seriously thinking of getting a float tube to get past the snags. My fishing buddy had some bad luck, he was drop-shot fishing and lost everything he hoked, he then got stuck in the mud and then to cap it all off snapped his rod on the cast. I'm going to buy more l
  2. The nest isnt right for a reed warbler IMO
  3. I have found that that the male reed bunting can be often up to twenty yards from the nest, so don't use him as your yardstick of identification. it's a great find though......
  4. IMO the nest and the eggs are wrong for reed bunting.... Now, I'm not a gambling man, but if I had to , I would say Sedge Warbler.....
  5. Are you sure he wrote it...? I've heard a couple of names over the years that have said the same thing...
  6. It wasn't my idea, I was told about it by Old trap collector and promptly stole it from him..
  7. Actually, I think I got the LB wrong....woke up this morning thinking about it! lol.. Think it might be a 22 spot ladybird...
  8. Yes Mr Darcy. The LB I didn't know, so thanks for that. The GT is a lovely moth eh? Atb They're getting rarer buddy...I've bred many of the tiger moth family.,...a nice chunky moth!
  9. This set had already managed a double catch when that third squirrel wanted in on the act. Problem being that there was no free trap..................
  10. They're different animals mate....i've shot lots of corvids when they've been mocking/alarming at their dead....
  11. I love the nuthatches....they often use the same site year on year. There's one about a mile away from where I'm sat that is only about 8 foot high and easy to photograph......will see if i can find a piccy..
  12. Aye, there's lots of barbel now getting hammered by them. Lots with the top of the tail fin bitten off. I feel sorry for them.
  13. Saw some nice sunsets over the years....
  14. The river season will be amongst us again soon, I might have a bash at the barbel again, having had a rest for the last few years. I think I did far too much barbelling and lost the 'buzz', an all-too-common thing in my life sadly. But here's a few piccys that might get peoples barbelling heads on.....three weeks to go...and counting.....Tight Lines folks....JD
  15. A man who can trap problem animals fast and effectively, whatever they be, will never be out of work. IMO. There are, however, a lot of pretenders. I hear some right horror stories. A farmer near me had three mole catchers on his fields this winter and all were useless. One caught nothing, one caught one and then lost his traps, and the third caught three. he wanted a tenner a mole and he came to the field for four days I was told. For a grand total of £30....It's amazing how these people make any money....
  16. I have a pair near me, they've been on a flash since about March but no sign of them nesting yet as they are always sat on the water together. Lovely ducks. I once saw one that a wildfowler had shot by accident. I was about 7 or 8 at the time and this guy actually didn't know what duck it was that he had shot....
