  1. I agree that our big organisations(CA, BASC, BPCA etc) should be answering back to the inaccurate nonsense written in the press as it is just making joe public even more ill-educated about these issues. regards DnN
  2. Nice pics... just wondering Aaron, can ye 'scruff' them lol as I would a fox? Or is that just not happening
  3. Please do mate... thanks for sharing them with us dan, doc and aaron... It amazes me how some folk, that hunt in their own ways, are sooo blinkered and ill-infromed about other control methods. Im a pest controller, and I know it pays off to have every tool available at your disposal. If I get a call about a problem fox(s) The best way to deal with it asap for the landowner could be anything from shooting with rifle, snaring, trapping, digging with terrier (gamebird protection), driving to guns using hounds/crosses etc.. Always a lurcher handy to pick up any wounded by the guns.
  4. Good stuff scent ... sounds like you lot had a canny good day on the vermin, terriers working well... cant beat a good day out with like-minded people for the crack
  5. Very sturdy looking bitch there fireman, hope she goes well for you, atb DnN
  6. only blue half cross ive seen workin, turned out to be a jacker on biting quarry... shame, as it was the bonniest bitch ive seen, it died hitting farm machinery after a bunny. But to be fair, it was on borrowed time by then anyways. It was a friends dog in Cumbria.
  7. The law definately covers ALL livestock not just sheep, 100% on that mate..... this even includes pheasants in the release pens. But your points are very true. Regards DnN
  8. i think you are being rather flattering of my ferreting abilities mate, its just a hobby which doesnt really fill the freezer, but there are ways i can get the rabbits, dont dogs need other meats though, not just rabbit? thanks so far guys I started feeding my dogs(terriers/spaniels/crossbreds/lurchers) rabbit/game/venison on the bone about 7 years ago, as I have a ready supply as a by product of my occupation. And like you I did a lot of asking about, and found that they were seriously lacking fats as game meat is as lean as meat gets... so asked a local butcher, who was only too h
  9. Is the black one out of L+B's bitch? Looks like that stamp... cheers DnN
  10. digger, if they were domestic geese then they will have been within their rights to do so im affraid. As the term 'livestock' covers all farm animals, including poultry, and even caged or penned gamebirds. as i said before it does not mention ''livestock'' on my firearms cert it states ''the shooting of animals to protect other animals or humans'' think this would cover any animal that was under threat be it a rabbit ,hare ,fox ,deer ,cow ,chicken ,goose or a horse i think it would be one for the courts to decide.... No mate, your interpreting that wrong... the firearms certificate
  11. Ive been told one of my lurchers has too much heart .... is that possible? im not sure, as i wouldnt change it... Hes brainy, and usually biddable enough, but when working/hunting/lamping(rabbits) he is almost insane... proper heart in mouth job... always uses every available scrap of power/brain/speed that is possible, and usually brings home the bacon so to speak!.... A friend calls him 'the gymnast' as hes good at cartwheels, jumping (usually chasing a bunny out of the field we were lamping in lol) and bouncing off stuff....I call him a real tryer, but, i know that he does this for his ow
  12. good stuff zini.... 26,000 acres WOW thats a hell of a patch of ground to control the bunnies on!!
  13. Erm... what? Cant afford to feed a barf diet?? Never heard that one before! With a bit of effort, its do-able for nothing appart from maybe fuel costs and time.
  14. hahaha plus the added bonus of a tasty and nutritious mouthful of brain and blood!! Everyones a winner!! lmao
  15. exactly... well said.... whats with all the breaking necks, spinning birds around, or fumbling through pockets for a dispatcher ffs... JUST PICK IT UP AND KNOCK IT ON THE HEAD WITH YOUR STICK OR FLAG!! JOB DONE edited to add.. if your shooting and not carrying a stick etc, a priest is a better tool than a dispatcher, iv seen enough folk messing/feckin about with dispatchers to put me off them.
  16. Couldnt they find out who the registered keeper of the vehicle is, and find him that way?
  17. You need permision off the person who owns the shooting/sporting rights, which may not always be the landowner or farmer, and stick to the season of 1st October till 1st Feb. And if your sussed shooting them at night, it will usually not go down too well mate, plus illegal if using a lamp. Hope this helps

  19. On some of the ground i hunt, there is always a bit of mixy but it never does much damage and there are always good numbers, just get the odd one going down with it bad. But in other areas, it seems to come through and kill most of them... not sure if its due to immunity or what though?
  20. You can come dig for me next time then Haha, id be happier digging to one of your terriers mate thats for sure!! Luckily iv never had to dig more than a couple of foot ferreting, and that is just to get the extra bunnies... touch wood il not have to either! Good luck for the future mate
  21. Fair play Joe thats a monster of a dig for out ferreting. But if I knew one of mine was trapped, with a locator on, id do the same (but i like digging) better than having to buy a replacement collar after all! edit... ahh ok, more like 9 foot trenching on mate, still, well done for getting it back in one piece.
  22. Good stuff Zap, lurcher looks well, hope she works as required mate
  23. Had LDR and Mally over for their second round heat of the lamping competition tonight. LDR running his lurcher Bruce, and Mally running his whippet Vixen... The conditions were bad, with the moon and no wind. Mally won the toss of the coin and opted for the first slip... we planned on crossing some ground id killed a lot of rabbits on recently, and onto a spot where there would be good numbers, but that was cut short as the demented senile landowner, who iv worked for for 3 years and contacted prior to the night, fed me a bullshite story, so we sacked the place off. However Mally's fi
