  1. They gorge on the salmon eggs aswell, and so do the cormorants, iv seen them with crops bursting at the seams with thousands of eggs.... it amazes me how much these birds can pack away!
  2. The guy is an absolute plank at best mate, he ended up getting rid as they didnt ammount to anything
  3. Cant really help, but are you 100% the earth was holding? Did you have a more experienced terrier there aswell? Or another dog to give a positive mark? If it was holding, and its going in, finding, then coming away.... its basically no good at all mate, sorry. atb DnN

  7. cant rate him yet as hes only turned 12 months, so far hes done everything wrong. i will just have to wait and see.people tell me that the deerhound crosses are slow to mature. it seems to be the case with this fella. Thanks for the input Dai, im only interested as they have a good jacket like the wheaten first crosses, which is the only downside to my bullx, he really suffers in bad weather. do you know anything of the rest of the litter? Will be interesting to hear how he gets on for you. regards DnN
  8. Yes they are great bushing, hunting and tracking dogs. Can be easily entered on any quarry, very biddable and wont disapear into the sunset like a pure hound might do. My friends/colegues and myself ran these and similar crosses, often with a bit of terrier in the mix as well. Mainly for pushing quarry out of woods/gorse/reshes etc to guns/lurchers. They follow a scent very well and most have a good voice which is great for alerting the guns and lurchers.
  9. good to hear it, and keep us posted as to how it gets on in the field. Good luck
  10. yes it was a scarry sight seeing huge boulders moving above us, we duly scattered as fast as possible!! Take care lads DnN
  11. Did you have a white terrier bred out of Nuttals patts Chezney mate, or am I mixed up here? Cheers DnN
  12. Brock stuck to his game well shame about the weather. We will have to get some more ground covered up there and see what else is about. Was a good, but hard day.
  13. Good to see you feed a BARF diet....
  14. I firstly need my lurchers to work with me, as my employees so to speak, in my line of work as a pest controller... and secondly for providing edible game. I will always have a strong lurcher, current one being bull/grey. But his coat lets him down, so will need to improve on this in the future. I also need a rabbiting dog, for hunting-up, ferreting, and lamping rabbits. And for me the collie lurchers, and some of the well bred lurcher x lurcher (bitza) are the best for this job. My current bitch is primarily collie lurcher. My next lurcher is to be the pot filler hopefully, and im picki
  15. hope he keeps up the good work for you
  16. I dont know a single person that would own a dog from un-worked parents, and non working lines, and spend a rediculous ammount on a cross breed. In theory, if bred from good working parents and cost the same as any other working cross-breed, then they may be a decent enough retriever. But there isnt a great following of working poodles, so this is not likely to occur very often. But mate, as you have the dog allready, hats off to you if you do work it, as it will have a better life than any pampered pet.
  17. Good stuff Goldy, looks a nice spot for a hunt about.
  18. There are many variations in coat condition and thickness, in both rough and smooth coats. I like a smooth coat personally but a good thick one with a warm undercoat and waterproof outer, like has been said, injuries can be seen and treated with less fuss, and the dogs dont get clagged up with mud or sticky seeds etc....my collie type has a good coat, and seams pretty hardy in all weathers, unlike my bull type, who dosent really have a coat at all, a mere light covering of very short hair, offering little protection. was out today on the hill, doing some fox control, it was bad weather, very
  19. the scene of last weeks action with Jamie2004.... very nearly caused a nasty rock fall above us.... were lucky lads!!
  20. I liked the comparison between the black body builder and the skinny little tribesman on the last thread..... and we all know which type of person always wins the long distance marathons.... the skinny little dudes that look like a hot dinner would put them on their backs! Edit; got to say that bitch should be fed more What game do they usually take with these hounds mate?
  21. Im not why cuagusgiorai is on this mission, but im pretty certain that he is not an anti, and neither is he cruel....
  22. Il always use a collar on my terriers no matter where we use them...same goes for all the lads I work the dogs with, and the hunt terrier lads, and they have come in very handy at times. yes you can hear a dog deep sometimes but not always, especially in the wind and rain. reson why i dont like locaters on dog , while in the rock is because my dad had one stuck in the pile for 5 days when we dug down and found the dog it had hung it self on the coller thats a good point, and a sad way to loose a dog, hopefully il not have that happen
