feck, thats a lucky one for the jcb driver, its a scary sight seeing a lot of big rock moving.... shame about the terrier, but then even the best can get beat up if the fox has a good position. good luck for the future mate

Il always use a collar on my terriers no matter where we use them...same goes for all the lads I work the dogs with, and the hunt terrier lads, and they have come in very handy at times. yes you can hear a dog deep sometimes but not always, especially in the wind and rain.

what you on about mate, proper rock piles, and little gay ones, even proper rock piles as you say sometimes can be dug, depends on were your dog is in the pile, just because they look undigable doesent always mean they are, you can slit the big rocks with sledge hammer and a bar, lift rocks and move them with jacks mate,an sometimes get machines in to help too right, even the biggest of rock piles, it could just be a matter of turning over a couple of boulders and hey presto. But often me or another lad has trudged back to get tools and extra boddies to get the job done. Its always a bad f

I near lost my best dog (now semi retired) in a large un-digable rock pile, he was in 3 days before he came out.... a friend lost his dog in a big borran we worked in cumbria, possibly trapped, but must have been off the box (deben). near 3 weeks of searching, was a very good dog I always like working the rocks, theres loads of rock piles and crags in my area, and we get loads of foxes from these places.... my old dog is a decent finder and nimble footed, and would kill a fox quick if he had a chance, my bitch hasnt done as much rock piles, but those she has been in, she has managed a bolt,

Well I feel sorry for you lot that have to live or work amongst any such nastyness, i count my self lucky to live in a rural area of the borders, the least populated area of England. I hate going into town for any reason, but has to be done now and then. I honestly couldnt live in an area where I couldnt trust my neighbours, which is probably any town or city in the country Its a sad thought, but the urban sprawl is slowly engulfing this small island When I lived in a remote area of the highlands, I found the locals there to be some of the best folk you can possibly meet. I think the

rain rain go away come again when the season is over
dogs-n-natives replied to max abell's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I either get wet, or wear some decent waterproof clothes. Out every day, rain, sun, snow, the lot, and in my opinion the wet weather can be very productive. I feel sorry for my bull cross though, as he has an extremely light coat, and if stood about he feels it. -
I get trotters as well as heads, and ribs, they are an excellent addition to the diet Giro, cant go wrong!

Interesting, thanks for sharing Rob -
I take it there used to being surrounded by photographers? Cracking shots there Kay Do these Red deer look to have a bit of sika hybridisation to anyone? They seem to have very pronounced frowning eyebrows, spotted backs and flanks, and light coloured gland patches on the hind legs.... it might just be me, im used to highland reds.

But what if there is actually a better animal available through this site? Would you still go to the local dog? Not everyone on here is a backstabbing money minded crook you know.... I just hope the genuine ones with tested dogs are brave enough. At the end of the day, its always down to the individual to sort the wheat from the chaff. Good luck

As far as im aware, people could already put up dogs for stud service in the for sale section.... so theres wont be no harm in making a section for this specific purpose, it will help to organise the site if anything wont it? anyway, as its still a public forum, im sure THL'ers will voice their opinions if they feel theres a peddler in our midst.

I use spaniels too Dell, and they are true workaholics, will flush game all day long for sure from any land or cover....added bonus of a great retrieve too. But for me, the cross-breds are the ultimate for working alongside the lurchers, and doing drives to guns and lurchers, as they will track a line further, and also give tounge, which the lurchers home in on. Or even when just ratching with the pack, when a hound speaks, it gets all the dogs attention straight away that there is game here! Thats true about hunting a line as my springers are used in close proximity and will not hunt on.I

Hello Well after hearing, and reading of many a sighting of stork's, from far and wide throughout Tynedale ive finally clapped eyes on one.... well down the valley, on arable land. I was ferreting grass parks above when I noticed the huge white bird strolling round the winter wheat. All white appart from black wings, and reddish beak and legs. I boxed up the ferrets and headed down for a closer look. I crept up and got within yards along a strip of trees. I did manage a shot with a poor mobile phone, and il share it, but just for the crack.... really sorry about the pic folks, you might n
