  3. Hi Ali In my eyes, a failed digging terrier is one that walks and cant be trusted to stay till dug to, and again, in my opinion, if a terrier can be trusted to stay till you get there, its a digging dog And for everyone else, ive never had one that I could reliably call out, tho i wish to fuk mine did sometimes..... like when scrumpy spent 3 days in a limestone clink, not good
  4. Im spend about the same, and feel in the same boat mate... im definately putting prices up next year! All the best DnN
  5. I dont understand.... why would anyone keep a bitch that wasnt up to scratch? Theres something very wrong here! And im talking digging dogs only, not including the bolting types which some keep, as they are not expected to stay, and some can be called off. (true, they have their uses, but they are really a failed earthdog in my eyes) I expect the same from both, if I cant dig to the terrier, dog or bitch, it aint a digging dog, and should be put to sleep, or put into a trusted pet home. Theres obviously some crap being bred from terriers that walk from their quarry, and this is no good at
  6. It happens mate, if a pup gets difficult slips and gets frustrated it may knock its confidence, you want to find a squatter in the open, and get right up to it....theres any ammount of bunnies in your area, so if I were you id either get knocking on doors or simply jump the fence good luck!
  7. Weve got some wild boar and feral pigs all ready Pops ...... but please feel free to send some coyotes over
  8. Heard the cross-breds can be useful tools for flushing all game ... a terrier/spaniel with a bit of hound in there too, will give tounge aswell and so alerting you as to whats happening and which direction its going.
  9. Sounds like my spaniel mate... great dogs My friends tell me about a couple of lads in the yorkshire dales who lamp with spaniel/greyhound crosses, and say they are great dogs on all quarry. Its certainly a cross id like to see working one day, as well as the lab cross, as iv heard good about them too. Ive had plenty of hunting with wire haired pointer/greyhounds on the fells, as a couple of keeper friends have this cross, and they are good workers, steady hunters, and can fill a freezer no worries.... quite game too.
  10. What the feck? Im sure someone could find a use for a big lurcher of this breeding or other big breeding... a lot of the aussies have used dane in thier pig dogs to good effect. Cant hunt pigs in England mate. good boy
  11. who the fukc would boot a terrier down a hole?
  12. Why not? Dont you have waterproofs? Whats with all the 'fair weather hunters'
  13. Totally disagree with you there mate... I find I have great times in bad weather, plus it makes me feel like iv conqured something after the day. I was hunting today on some high hill ground ive got, and although it was cold and wet and windy, with sleet and hail aswell, we had an excellent day, with great results!
  14. Great read Mate.... sounds very exciting, hunting those coyotes! Good on ya for taking the time to share your experiences with us
  15. What the feck? Im sure someone could find a use for a big lurcher of this breeding or other big breeding... a lot of the aussies have used dane in thier pig dogs to good effect.
  16. Years ago I went to a fishery in hampshire with one of these machines.... maggots the lot!
  17. You have been very patient with her Scent, shes had her chances to go, fingers crossed for the next try mate Do you still have the patt/bull? If so, hows he coming on? Regards DnN
  18. Really sad news good luck for the future mate all the best DnN
  19. My young lurcher bitch, 23 ish tts, she's primarily collie based lurcher, but theres saluki/gwp/whippet in there as well...mainly for daytime bunny killing, but will do a bit of lamping too. Cracking thread, some fine looking dogs here! All the best DnN
  20. No no, not a pointless cross at all mate! You get the best of both breeds! I know several keepers with this very cross and the dogs are cracking workers on the fell.... id say they are better for the open country than the thick cover like brambles etc, but they will try anywhere thats a certainty! A lot of pure wire haired pointers are too headstrong for the average grouse day, and require a firm handler and an experienced trainer, however the lab crosses seem very biddable, yet still have the nose and use the wind like the pointer, and many will point too. If I were still a hill keeper I
