A couple of main things to try an remember....
The main reason most people miss is they stop the movement of the gun when they pull the trigger.... keep the gun moving....
Gun fit and mounting is important.... practise putting the gun up to your shoulder...and aim at the corner of the room.......and keep doing it until you can do it with your eyes closed, and it come up to the right point on your shoulder..
If you cant get it right....then consider checking your gun fit with a professionally.
Dont worry about cartridges...they just complicate things, get the cheapest no 6 you can... and

Its not safer 40ft up a tree like a gun the most dangerous part of the setup is the user or shooter .
Like said the buyer of a top handle saw has undergone unless your a cowboy setup the cs31/32 basic training then the correct training for use of a chainsaw in a tree .which make a diffrents to how to handle a top handle saw and gives the trained person a better understanding of the inherant added dangers on top handle saw.
