I'm fairly new at chicken keeping, so I'm learning as I go along. I've been told to wash eggs in cold water, as washing them in hot water par-cooks them and makes them go "off" quicker. Cheers.

It may be that the ground was so frozen, as it was here, then when the topsoil thaws, it can't drain away 'cause the sub-soil is still frozen ? We have a slush on top, but still patches of ice; and it's supposed to freeze again after the wekend ! Cheers

I'd imagine she is getting more attention than she's ever been used to !! She was the one who gave out the "highly personal" information on the Dutchess. The poor lass who took the call, (and her own life), only passed the call on ! Cheers.

Correct mate. Dogs AREN'T humans ! They have a completely different make up to humans. For a start, they don't sweat through their skins as we do. They are more prone to overheating than we are, but that is not to say they can stand exteme cold temperatures. Some do, others dont; but when we feel cold that doesn't mean a dog feels the same ! If a dog is in a warm, dry, draught free kennel, with good bedding, in this country, IMO, they usualy don't need artificle heating. Others may disagree, and if they want to use heat lamps and/or heat blowers, then why not ? Cheers.

It's an absolute fact that scientists are the profession that says "I don't know" the most times when questioned !! It's also a fact that the worlds favourite scientist, Steven Hawkin, got his Phd on a thesis that has subsiquently been proven completely wrong !! Even he admits it !! All scientists work on "theories" which are just that; theory; not fact !! Cheers.

They didn't kill her did they... Was what they did any worse than what Brand and Ross did ? Harassing a revered old man and calling his grand daughter a slag ? I abhored what they did, and abhore what the Aussies did; but it has nothing to do with them being Australians.... we have home grown idiots every bit as stupid !! Depends; If the bitch is being used as a puppy machine, being mated every season, it will take it out of her, and possibly the later litters will not be as good as the earlier ones. It happens, some bitches have 6/7/8 litters !! Cheers.

I don't go along with the conspiricy theory that she was bumped off; but I bet some officious twat, either on the hospital staff or the Royal staff, gave her an almighty bollicking and maybe a few threats; the sack, deported back to India, etc !! After all, this is a VERY prestigous private hospital, who's owners, governors and senior staff all have thoughts of a "gong" somewhere down the line in their careers !! They have been highly embarresed by this, and some one will have to carry the can !! It will be covered up, but it'll come out in the end !! Cheers.

I remember the "ticket" incidence well. It caused a bit of a storm across the hunting sites and many called for a boycott of CMW. I'm sure their circulation dropped, causing them to back down. This was before social media sites such as facebook and Twitter, etc, so I think CMW should think very carefully before upsetting hunting people again. Cheers.

You ask "aren't we all meant to be defending a common purpose" ? Well, yes we are, and shouldn't the CMW be included in the "WE" ?? You'd think so, but when they have an article by Poacher Watch, with a picture of a Lurcher and a statement like "Poachers are violent criminals", most people wil then link Lurchers with violent criminals !!! Hardly "defending a common purpose" is it. I think CMW simply got it wrong on this, and no amount of sycophants defending it will make my change my mind. Cheers.

I've never used a Magbox or a heat lamp, so would you say an otherwise fit dog will benefit from using either ? I can understand them being used in helping to heal a dog, but should they be used with healthy dogs ? Cheers.
