  1. Very insightful !!! I'll have to remember those words of wisdom !! LOL !! Cheers.
  2. Why ? What do you think he will have to offer that proven dogs haven't ? Cheers.
  3. I remember a Hound Pack that was fed exclusively on damaged pork pies from a local baker !! They did very well on carbs, pork and gelatine !! LOL !! Cheers.
  4. Its like us pasta and rice afta hard graft helps restock the muscles after there depleted when u or dogs exercise they burn carbs as an ebergy source which depletes from muscles yes it reduces the amount of protein but like sprinters n long distance runners simple carbs are better then rice n pasta as they digest quicker n its only one small meal afta graft body need carbs just like protein to recover and repair plenty protein in the chicken/beef n what ever other foods ya feed ya dogs normally Are they like us ? As I understand it, dogs convert the likes of carbs, fats and protein com
  5. Start by stating age, size, breeding, experience, etc; but by already stating they are non-workers, you won't get much joy on here !! Be prepared for a rough ride !! LOL !! Cheers.
  6. It makes me laugh when people complain about paying £200 - £250 for a Lurcher pup ! It would cost four times that for a pup from some off these pedigree litters ! When I paid £10 - £25 for a pup back in the 60's or 70's, it was a bigger percentage of my wages than what a pup costs now !! Lurchers and Terriers are probably the cheapest types of dog you can buy, and treated correctly, they will give years of work. Tomo, surely you know enough people in the game to see you right for a decent Terier ? Cheers.
  7. In my opinion, harness' are worse than useless; they give none of the control a well fitting collar gives. Control the dogs head and you control the dog ! As for your problem, all I can advise is keep the dog around traffic and keep talking to it and re-assuring it, don't shout or get angry or treat it harshly. Hopefully it will come around; good luck ! Cheers.
  8. When my missus was away in Oz one time, I was daft enough to let the dogs in the house; they made themselves right at home !! Cheers.
  9. Both of mine "air scent", ones a Lurcher, the other is pure running dog. Cheers.
  10. I'd say that statement is anything BUT fact !! I'd hate to think I'd been in the dog game over 45 years and only had one good dog !! Cheers. I'm surprised you have had one good dog............... Lol Sorry mate I couldn't resist ... As for what baw said about poaching tools,, snares are good,,, but for all round, there's nowt better than a 22 rimmy with silencer... However if you are cought the sentence would be greater... Back to the original question,, I'm not old enough to know anything of such legendary dogs,,, however a few year back the Warrener did a very int

  12. There was a pic of one on here a while back. It looked exactly what you would imagine a Border x Whippet would look like. Smart little dog. Cheers.
  13. Did you not see all the superstars who claimed he had influenced their playing, when they were interviewed after he died ? Cheers.
  14. Not sure if I'm reading this right; but are you saying you wouldn't give the vast majority of Lurchers kennel space, or Whippets ?? Either way, could you tell us why ? Cheers.
  15. How about John Williams and Carlos Alomar ?? Completely different ends of the spectrum; but great guitarists, nonetheless !! Cheers.
  16. How come no-ones mentioned the man that many of the greats say influenced them; or are you all to young ?? LOL !! BERT WEEDON !!!! Cheers.
  17. It appears thare are seperate qualifications in English, Scottish, and UK Law. If a Lawyer is qualified in UK Law, he/she can practice anywhere in the UK. Cheers
  18. I was very supprised to read this, so have looked, very briefly into it, and as far as I can see, any lawyer qualified in UK law can practise in Scotland. There appears to be many London based Lawyers relocating to Scotland as the costs of living, keeping chambers, etc in London is far higher than in Glasgow or Edinbourgh. So, as I read it; an English Lawyer, practising in England CAN represent a client in Scotland, as long as he is qualified in UK Law ! I could be wrong, as the Law is very different in many ways, between England and Scotland, but as I understand it, Mr. Rees could represent a
  19. Maybe you should offer to represent the guy, Baw !! You've got a way with words, and are very diplomatic !! LOL !! Cheers.
  20. I've owned and worked Whippets, and am a big fan of them, (and Saluki's !!LOL !!), but in the scenario you describe; it would have to be the Lurcher !! Cheers.
  21. It's a pity the Writ of Habeus Corpus doesn't cover dogs !!!! How the hell are a "charity" allowed to take peoples property, (their dogs), and keep them for months ?? There used to be a saying in this country; "innocent 'till proven guiltty ", but in these cases the opposite seems to be true, they take and keep your dogs, and assume you are guilty, until you proove yourself innocent !! In this lads case, he seems to have a good chance, as he was found not guilty in a criminal court, although the burden of proof is less in a civil court. Cheers.
  22. Doe's that sometimes not result in a couple of dead old ewe's ?? Cheers.
  23. I'm never sure what these icons mean; maybe it's better to actualy say what you mean ? Cheers.
