  1. Only Fools and Horses, Blackadder and Fawlty Towers. Nowadays it's Alan Partridge, Extra's and The Office............
  2. Never owned a rescue dog, but my admiration for those that are willing to give a dog a second chance. Unfortunately with the chop and change mentality of far too many along with breeding with no real thought the rescue kennels will continue to have a steady supply..........
  3. An old age pensioner and a nine year old child...........I know if my dogs did that my conscience wouldn't allow me to run off and leave them to deal with the badly injured dog. Yet more bad publicity for lurcher owners..................
  4. Sorry to hear that Mal, my nan is in her 80's and still around. That generation were the real stiff upper lip type............
  5. I'm afraid that not quite correct mate. And as I mentioned earlier the new amendments to the dangerous dogs act will make life harder for dog owners, especially dogs that bite, even under exceptional circumstances. Sounds like the officer who visited yours had common sense......... The Guard Dogs Act 1975 originally governed guard dogs with stipulations regarding signs etc, but the 91 DD is now the benchmark often used when dealing with dogs that bite. As a general rule the police will not prosecute (from my experience) unless a dog bites a child/emergency person or has a history of aggres
  6. Lurcher with a good baseline of collie/gundog/GSD tend to have better scenting abilities.......
  7. The law can be an ass at times. I always had a couple of shepherds around the kennels/house, and they were both very serious dogs, yet sociable too. Unfortunately the other thing is many people think a serious protection dog is easy to acquire, unfortunately they are like rocking horse sh*t, many look the part and make all the right noises but when push comes to shove they are left wanting. Getting a pure bred shepherd/rottie/malinois from working lines and it turning out a forceful protection/guard dog is hard work, getting a dual purpose lurcher is making life even harder........
  8. As somebody who used to spend a lot of time training sport/protection dogs I would say with the proposed changes to the DD act you would be better off investing in a security system as nowadays your more likely to end up in prison than the intruder.........
  9. Aye, obviously scripted and fake, but worth a watch, I have it on now lol
  10. I don't care what people look like, if they have popcorn I'm in there like a rat up a drain pipe.......
  11. It's disturbing, we owe a great debt to the brave men of bomber command and all our troops past and present........
  12. A news story that isn't a news story.............
  13. Sunday August 11th WF169DB. Show starts at 11....
  14. Sounds like you have put a lot of thought into it, the way it should be, well done..............
  15. Great stuff, stockbreaking only takes a little effort with a pup and can save lots of potential hassle. I used to keep geese and chickens. Young pups are soon put in their place by geese. The only glitch I ever had was when a gander decided to bite me when he was being put away, one of my Shepherds grabbed the gander and pinned him to the floor, other than hold him he didn't do any damage at all........
  16. Erm no, it's just an escapee. Outlaw Pete, cassowary's and emu's are both rattites, but only the cassowary and ostrich need a DWA. Ray, what did you estimate it's weight at?
  17. I have decided after the lack of advice i'm getting some fish
