  1. Sounds like a brilliant weekend. I'm looking forward to it!
  2. I love the smell of eley subs! They shoot well in my cz too
  3. So what happens to wounded deer if you don't keep or have access to a dog? Obviously the vast majority die close to the shot site but imperfect shots must happen and even well placed shots can run on and be lost in cover. I would have lost one the other day or at the very least had to come and look for it again the following day
  4. I can't do pics off my phone but if you search my old threads there will be loads.
  5. Of the dogs I have had or seen I would have my wife's Russell x whippet again if I could. He's nine now and getting on a bit but still gives 100% at whatever you ask him to do .... except being quiet. 9 f***ing years I've spent trying to stop him whining in the car on the way out but he still does it lol
  6. Don't count on it. I have a patxspringer and she's tiny. Works great and and hasn't dropped in ... yet. She's certainly small enough though and that's with a bloody great springer as the sire!
  7. I have a whippet Russell, about 9 now but probably the best dog I've ever had. Was bred out of workers though

    Bow Hunting

Looks like a nice way to spend a day
  9. There can't only be 2 or 3 tracking dogs on thl surely? Anyone else?
  10. For me it depends on the situation, she's always in the truck anyway but if I'm stalking in woodland or anywhere moving around she comes with me as her senses are fat better than mine. If I'm using a high seat I leave her in the truck though as I don't think it helps having her at ground level. I also have bear in mind she's a multi purpose dog, if other quarry walks past while she's sat under a seat rather than at heel it's a lot to ask expecting her ignore it
  11. The spaniel x is far too hectic and has a 2 second memory! She'd be distracted and off bushing in no time at all. I've got Willow the lurcher doing it. I take her with me stalking anyway as Born said, one day I needed her to track and she just did it. Since then I'm hooked and been to a couple of training days with the UKDTR. I let her find anything that hasn't dropped on the spot even if I can see it. She loves it. I'm learning to read her body language a bit more now too which helps, also helps that she'll do anything for a bit of liver! I've started getting calls from lads I know to help th
  12. Who uses them and how do they get on? I have been training mine for a bit and enjoy it as much as the stalking
  13. It's because lots of people are wankers
  14. Adjustable beam, warm light, decent flip up filter and it'd be grand. The battery in them is good enough and build quality the same
  15. Is it worth bringing my sevylor inflatable as well? It's not great in the sea but if the days calm and the fishing spots aren't far out it might be handy?
  16. That looks like a nice little session. I'm looking forward to having a little go at the competition if that's still the plan? I no nothing about sea fishing but I do know that bream looks tasty!
  17. I have two falcons in .20, very happy with both
  18. I'd be there like a shot, or NZ, or Canada, or Oz. This country, especially the South, is just too full for me. Sadly it's not going to happen as we'd both have to want it and my wife is running a successful business and loving it here at the moment. Maybe one day ....
  19. I've always used sako rounds in my rifle and they shoot lovely through it. I usually bulk buy so never run out. For the last month or so I've been asking my local shop for them, they don't seem to be able to produce any so I've rung round and nowhere has them but all have a range of excuses. I'm now down to 4 rounds so need to either find some or choose an alternative and re zero. Does anyone know of any in the south east or recommend an alternative round?

    Lidle Find

I've got one from aldi, was only £50. Not quite as good as my acorn ones but does the job. They are handy things to have around
  21. He is a seriously sound guy. I met up with him on a trip to NZ and he put me and a mate up, took us fishing he'd have taken us pig hunting too if there'd been time. Good cook and all round sound guy.
