  1. I love Ireland. I'd move there like a shot if I could uproot the wife. Her business and life is here though and I'd rather stay than make her miserable by making her move. One day ...
  2. That sounds like an offer but I'm not that way inclined - sorry pal.
  3. As above, I'm currently getting shafted by him so thought I'd see if it's an actual scam or if he is just inept.
  4. I hunted unguided in NZ last year, had more success being taken out by the locals though. It's big country to learn in one trip
  5. I have too many. 5, a 10 year old lurcher retiree on the sofa, an aging whippet russell worker at 10, my main lurcher bitch at 7, a terrier who acts older than his 9 years and a 18 month old spanielxterrier who is his apprentice. They are alot of work but still miss out on days / nights in the season due to injury
  6. Only arrived today and didn't realise it didn't come with a mount. Will cobble something together and try it tomorrow night
  7. Thanks, thats good to hear. I've bought the t50 with red, green and white pills. If I need more range I will buy the t67 head. I'd probably have bought the t67 having read this but was impatient lol
  8. I'm looking for an led gun lamp to use on both .22 and .243. I'd be looking to shoot out to 150 yards max and be spotting with either hand held lamp or nv. Are the optic fire torches good and if so what size will I need? Cheers
  9. Same in Africa, they'd sometimes have a purge. Poison is an awful thing. Some f****r killed some of our dogs by throwing baits into our compound, all in spite over an imagined slight I expect. I never found out who which was probably for the best.
  10. They are very interesting to watch. I lived in Africa for a while and spent alot of time watching the feral dogs on the beach. They form packs and alliances and territories, I guess much like wolves. The ones I watched fed mostly off scavenging but there were other packs who lived in the bush who I expect were more predatory. There's a really interesting PHD project in animal behaviour there for someone
  11. That's the truth, they are only as brave as they have to be. Backed into a corner I think they'd be formidable but I expect, like all wild animals, given the opportunity they would avoid a battle to save on injuries.
  12. I think you'd probably end up with a tough cunning dog if those ferals are anything like those that live in Africa. Feral dogs, in my experience, are as hard as nails and tough as fcuk. They have to be, the weak ones die simple as that. Anybody who thinks any of our pet / working dogs can compete for toughness might do well to spend a bit of time around feral dogs in a third world country. It could be an eye opener. Whether they'd work well crossed with a greyhound I wouldn't know.
  13. Me and the missus are down cornwall camping in our horse box with 4 dogs. The rain has not helped. We abandoned the horse box and found ourselves a holiday cottage next to a pub for the last two days! It's looking nicer this morning though, fishing time I think!
  14. Mate, you need to just get a dog and go hunting with it. Stop worrying about all these wierd and wonderful breeds. You'll have more fun with a couple of mutts from your local pound than worrying about breeds you never going to see. Get hunting and just enjoy it.
  15. I quite like a pale dog at night, you can see them coming back in without the lamp.
  16. Kennel rest us only good if the injury been fixed. Alot of vets love to proscribe rest, pain killers and anti inflamatories without finding the actual cause. It might be fine for pets but I've found the injury usually comes back when you bring the dog back into work. Ideally you want a good greyhound vet or failing that a combination of a bone man and a good normal vet. Find the injury, treat it and then rest it. Good luck
  17. All great info. Thank you. We'll be spending a day or so on dartmoor I think, seems like alot to do. I wish it was 2 weeks ...
  18. All kids should get the chance to spend that kind of time with their parents but so few do. Well done
  19. Has anyone fished the reservoirs on Dartmoor? Apparently free fishing for brown trout, any method with a four fish limit?
  20. Thanks lads, loads of info there and much appreciated. ☺☺☺
  21. Me and my missus are heading down to Cornwall for a week soon. We'll be taking the horsebox full of dogs, fishing gear, camping stuff and a canoe. Basically wanting an adventure! Any recommendations?
  22. Can you not put some bigger pics up? I can't even zoom in on those
