  1. very popular around here when we were kids, foxterrier x whippet and also bull x whippet, not the pit but the old type of Staffordshire which you don't see much anymore. have always fancied a terrier x whippet but this young whippet has opened my eyes in the work it is doing ?
  2. I had a go at the other one today blacky
  3. they will have a job implementing it in most parts of England, no ones seen a dog chase a rabbit for fxxking years.
  4. looked a great day ?, never had numbers like that though, had good days and nights mainly Lincolnshire that's where we all headed off to. local its mooching about old pit tips, industrial units, disused railway embankments, hardest jobs is avoiding do gooders?
  5. I think the love of ferreting comes from most of us starting out that way as kids. even now ageing fart like me when dog as marked and ferret is in, when you here it bumping still makes my heart beat faster....... daft old txxt
  6. in same boat here Terry, never anything in holes, yesterday afternoon after work dog's marked 2 small setts within 60 yards, too late in day to take a ferret sod's fxxking law.
  7. saw a litter a few years ago.they were called merle whippets but they were 7/8ths whippet 1/8th collie nice pups and I think were working stock.
  8. when I bought the Whippet pup she was bred from the lines I wanted and both parents ferreting ,lamping etc.of the 8 pups only mine and a black bitch which went to Scotland went to working homes.rest went for pets ,so long as they are good homes it doesn't matter to me ?
  9. I don't think £600 is out of the way for a pup.if it's what you are looking for I would pay it. thought of breeding my own but the time and effort that goes into it and the timewasters and arseholes you have to deal with put me off.
  10. same around here, only picking up ones and twos ,catching more squirrels with dog's catty etc.odd pigeons pheasant etc.as for do gooders yes always been about but far more dangerous today because of one thing . mobile phone .
  11. Thats all I do now mate.you make a good point.this beddywhippet has never needed a stitch and will go through all cover.young whippet has more nicks and cuts already at 15 months.
  12. I think nothernlite has it spot on mate ,a strong non ped is the way for rabbits.it's all right producing all rounders for other stuff but things aren't what they used to be.the good times of the past have gone ,do gooders have seen to that. but if you are young enough and brave enough who knows ?
  13. season of goodwill and all that ?
  14. been surprised with how good the nose is on them.this one is a natural marker from 6 months old .hunting up and finding is far better than I expected .
  15. I can't get mine to sit long enough to get the candle in.
  16. yes mate ,since buying this little whippet our soft furnishings have never been so good ?
  17. not much to look at but a great little mooching dog,had her 16 years.i don't think she really liked anybody ,even me? .she just did her job then went to bed no fuss at all .
  18. all working dogs should be kenneled outside.indoors will make them soft.as a young man I actually believed this. experience has learnt me that it makes no difference whatsoever .seen dogs looking soft lay at front of the fire etc,but out in field doing the job , which is all that matters ?
  19. know exactly what you mean.been out this morning rabbits have been scarce for years around here, both dogs worked well managed to put 5 rabbits up without getting a decent run at any of them.the most important thing is I am enjoying it .
  20. great pics Terry ?.I really miss a few drops with traditional nets.Still got the tackle but sadly no decent drops to go at.
  21. Ben benham on ebay, not the cheapest but quality and service is spot on .?
