  1. no not tried scout, had a wasp before but my thumb wasn't strong enough for brace grip. now I have had bone fusion thought I would give it another go. really like the wasp now.
  2. that comes from before everything mate being able to get about. love to be young again, different dogs and out regularly on land up down country, but it's not going to happen. older now but knocking about with little whippet types, little Jill, half dozen net's, catapult etc, it costs nothing and I am enjoying it as much as anything.
  3. can't fault you mate, I have got a bit longer to go, but if I can afford to finish earlier I will do. when you have interests boredom don't come into it. dogs have loved it, out every day no time limits.
  4. Cheers mate, I have got myself a little wasp uniphoxx, started a few shots last week. just using a light setup to start with,. .55 and 8.7mm steels. been off work 14 week, if this is what retirement is I am fxxking loving it. trouble is I will soon be captured and sent back.
  5. probably in the attic with Mrs bates
  6. nicely put together Terry, lovely little net?
  7. just a update on young whippet, 22 months now, not a big bitch 19tts and 23 pounds. catching quite regularly, rabbit, squirrels, mice etc. marking and hunting up spot on, try her lamping in September. a few setbacks, stitches in chest and had leg stapled, but she's very committed, overall really happy with first whippet.
  8. how do they compare to the beddys? by that I mean way they hunt, work etc, also temperament wise? my father kept collies I grew up with them, it put me off having them for life.
  9. I do like him, right size for me, no interest in anything bigger ?
  10. great shooting ?, what bands you using with 8.7mm?
  11. looking good Terry ?, you have a much harder task now.... . finding the rabbits to put in it. ??
  12. mines a working bred ped whippet, kc reg. I sometimes see a slight bit of bull around the eyes in her. unless it's just me I don't know.
  13. I do like that ?, is it three quarter bred? or line bred?
  14. gain in some lose in others. until I had this whippet I never knew how good a nose they had.
  15. how did she compare with the little blue whippet bitch you had?
  16. always used 4z for night netting, they do tangle better, but I think you are better with 6z for ferreting as they stand being ragged about a lot better.
  17. when I was a kid, whippet/bull were very popular, they were always Stafford cross and produced some good dogs. but the staffs you see today are very different to the ones then.
  18. I don't doubt you at all, point I was making is even over hunting, dog, ferrets etc, they have a chance, other method it's not sport at all.
  19. there as always been summer hunting, but it's far worse now. infra red, thermal imaging call it what you want, they don't have a chance. they all shout pest control but it's far from sporting. if that's hunting I would rather be skinny dipping with fxxking barrymoor (again).
  20. it's a common thing in a lot of places. I travel to the Lincolnshire coast a few times throughout the year. early 80s, 90s rabbits on verges loads run over, once shot 10 out of the car window with a 3 bore garden gun, that's before we started night lamping. now you hardly see any on roadside.
  21. allegedly, rumours are circulating one was run over outside Leicester
  22. just been to the Yorkshire coast for a few days, due to my wrist still in plaster gave me plenty of opportunity to view scenery not having to drive. from A1 along A64 all the way to Filey, didn't see a single rabbit either sat on grass verge, in fields or run over. rode through part of north York moors and exactly the same, sad times.
  23. Yorkshire wolds for a few days with Mrs and both dogs. birthday tomorrow, whitby for fish and chips around harbour, been off work 6 weeks now and fecking loving it ?
