    Someone sent me Chris packham’s home address last night, if you would like to contact him to discuss the matter at length ? take a look at this topic in the air rifle section, I was sent an email last night and if it’s correct NE pulled the license for a good reason

    I know where you are coming from mate, I mentioned this earlier in the rifle section, I know it’s not always popular but this could be a case for licensing air rifles like in Scotland, as on the license it could state all legal quarry as it does on the SG or FAC and then you would be covered under the GL

    Fingers crossed mate, reading the email the MP seems really switched on, I know the person who contacted the MP and they have said that NE have been court with there pants down, the original GL was not fit for purpose and now NE are taking advice from people who use the GL on a daily basis, I.E. farmers, keepers, I still think there could be some major changes to the legislation but we will have to wait and see, as far as I can work out the licenses will not all be released together and it will be a work in progress until they get it right I just hope that NE weren’t just blowing smoke up

    I thought I would share this with you lot, I’m not sure on the legality of sharing the email that has just been passed to me so I won’t post it on here the email is from an MP from Yorkshire, he has been in talks with NE basc, countryside alliance and the NFU, in the email the MP states that NE pulled the GL because they were given legal advice that they would loose the case brought against them by the packham cranks, so as of midnight you can no longer shoot any birds, they are currently working on new general licenses that legally cover us all for what we do, each license will be specif

    I was talking to someone earlier and he seems to think it will be reworded in some way, he brought up to points that I never thought of, firstly what if you were taking birds for food and secondly he thinks it will affect the air rifle lads because they are not licensed where as it states on my SG and FAC what they can be used for, it’s all a bit of a mess really, I can see us having to register for pest control and give the land we have permission on, but there’s no way on earth they could police this

    Just a little bit of advice, don’t put any pictures on line of any birds until we all know where we stand on this

    This is just someone at natural England trying to prove their worth there has to be some form of licensing for pest control and public health, I’d guess that the new licensing won’t be a million miles away from what it is now, but they should of had it in place before revoking the current one, I don’t fully understand how they can do this just on there own, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see

    It looks to me like they have just jumped in with both feet on this, at a guess the new general license that will be issued will be almost the same just worded differently, but they should have it in place before revoking the current one, you still need crop protection ( a banger only works for a couple of days ) and public health needs to be a major consideration, these birds that are on the general license are pest species and some invasive and in most cases the most effective and humane way to control them is to shoot them, surely the people who write the general license can not be so far r

    Hello, if you don’t know anyone who does driven game shooting then my advice would be to get yourself down to your local clay ground and get to know a few people there, you will find a lot of people who only shoot game will hit the clay grounds over the summer to keep there eye in, you want to be looking for private syndicates because this lot are always after beaters that they don’t have to pay and fingers crossed that could be your in, good luck ?

    It’s been a cracking day for a walk out and to bag a bunny makes it all the better, I’d tolerate the odd bee sting when I’m in there neighbor hood but it will soon be ar*ehole wasp season and I can’t be doing with them nobheads ?
