It has the sitting on a high building selecting your target look about it ? like david I’m also a fan of the tikka, I also love a plastic gun, wood for me belongs on a shotgun ?
-
I would of walked around for it mate, I always like one for the album, I think his little legs were getting tired had the caller on pheasant distress, no real interest in it, he did manage to make the one he shot turn it’s head with a cub call but that might of just been because it was a noise on a quiet evening ether that or it got a whiff of his old spice
-
He’s almost 5 going on 55 ?
-
He had about half a dozen before we go him on paper ?

I was asked if I would like a walk out tonight at a place not far from my shoot that I’d been once before, even though it looked like rain I thought sod it, it’s better than coronation street, so off I went, been the guest as always I get to shoot first, after waking for a little under a mile we came to a fire break where at the end of the ride was a clear felled section of forestry, looking through the binoculars I could see a fox working it’s way along the back of the clearing, we headed a little closer but with the wind in the wrong direction my mate said to me we wouldn’t get any closer as

I've been doing this a long time ......but....

They do seem to have multiplied well this year and are still doing so, have you had any mixy down your way yet, I came across a couple last week all bongie eyed and looking sorry for themselves -
I can’t think of another pursuit that instils an understanding and respect for wildlife and the countryside like shooting does and the younger we can get them involved the better in my view, nothing better than free range kids ?
-
We are the same on our shoot, I think they get so much out of it and really want to be there, so even kids that are not the best behaved at school or home are really respectful and behave how they are expected to, knowing that if they mess about they won’t be back, it’s nice when they want to be like you and gain the knowledge to do something they enjoy, the right way, we have a lad who started with us about 6 years old and now at 13 he’s a full member and his PlayStation mates always ask to come up with him because they want his outdoor life
-
Cheers mate, I like to take him out because he normally asks questions I know the answer to, which makes me feel intelligent ? I think he’s on my level i just thought I’d mention that the picture where he is on his own with the rifle, there’s no bolt in it ?

He’s almost 5, he’s a little sod when he’s at home but as soon as he’s out with me or his dad he’s a different lad, I had Him out beating on the pheasant shoot last season and he loved it, some people have said he’s to young but for me as long as he has his ear defenders, is safe and enjoying himself that good enough for me

A cracking result and a lovely write up, I love a bit of detail in a story ? -
Up at the pheasant shoot this morning for some pre season jobs, as usual my mates little lad Hugo wanted to come a long, he looked very disappointed when he was told the quad wasn’t coming out the shed, so after I’d done the repair to the trailer I needed to do, we went for his first shooting lesson with the little.22 rimmy, set out at 45 yards and under strict supervision from his dad and myself he managed to get a few shots on paper, so now apparently we are going out hunting? I think it might be a little time before that will be happening, but all good things come to those who wait and them
-
You were probably watching all them foxes while I was p*ssing around with my phone, I should of taken you with me last night I could of done with someone to keep the flies off me, they would of reached you before me all the way up there ?
-
I do everything right handed apart from shoot, I’ve tried right handed and it feels very odd I can’t think of anywhere else I would rather be no matter what time of year, I love watching how it changes over the seasons, sadly today the missus has had me waxing oak doors all day so no outings today
-
A few people have said that, I wonder if it a manufacturer defect ?
-
After a terrible week at work I was in need of some stav time, so I thought I’d take trip up to the shoot to see if I could catch up with any gingers, on arrival I popped to the house to see how my favourite old girl was doing, first port of call was the garden to show me the state of the cabbage’s and beetroot so after a 10 minute ear bashing and a promise I’d be up on a rabbit mission I headed over to a part of the shoot I know there is a family, after walking to the far end of the shoot I realised that all the rain we have had has done the place the world of good, we are now in full summer
-
Haha haha that’s not right on any level ?????
-
I was just about to type the same thing ?

Trying to put a smile on his face ☹️
Stavross replied to Stavross's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
It used to be big hunt ground, the land behind the sheep is a grouse moor that a lad I know is the head keeper on, sadly it’s died out a fair bit now and I think there’s only one pack now, when it almost stopped the bloke that owned the moor sold more game shooting to keep the money coming in, putting more pressure on the moor, luckily he’s now sold it to a chap who’s more interested is lower number days but better shooting and he’s all for moorland management and not shooting the arse out of it -

If I told him they were a fiver each he’d try and charge me for them saying he’d done me a favour shooting them, yes he is that tight but he’s like an unwanted brother ? -
That’s a proper set up??? we buy ours in on our shoot, straight into the pens but we have a young lad on the shoot that hatches a few wildies in his garden, last year he managed about 50ish so we banded them and if you shot one you had to give him 5 quid, he was the richest man on the shoot on a couple of occasions, I’m going to show him this and tell him to ask his dad to sort him some space in one of the poultry sheds, he’ll torture the poor old fella ?
