I don’t think I would of taken the shot and had he not hit it I would of probably had a good rant at him but seen as he dropped it all I could do was say well done

I had a phone call from the farmer today telling me the a fox had killed one of the lamps and would I get my arse up there and do something about it, so I rang my mate to come with me, I had to bribe him with first shot because the weather was terrible, so off we went, when we got there it was windy and pouring down but on we went, after about 20 minutes he got his chance and fair play to the lad he took the dog at 307 yards, my go next and 45 minutes later I got to take a vixen at a modest 87 yards, so cold and wet we called it a night ?

I’ll take you up on that mate, I’d like to see what it’s like with my scope ?
-
Nice shooting fella l use a nightmaster 800 in red for foxes and I don’t have a problem once looking through the scope, I can always tell the difference between fox and dog due to eye shine just using the lamp, cats are a lot harder to tell apart ?

That looks a very nice set up, I’ve been looking at these for weeks now but keep getting conflicting information on how it will work on my .243 with the vortex scope, some have told me it will work under 12 Mag but others have said the glass is to good on the scope and will not give a good image at all, I don’t really want to change the scope because it’s a lovely bit of kit but I’d really like an ad-on

You could be right there, I often catch her looking at me like she wants me to die and then when I turn to look at her she smiles, devious little bugger

If I’m out on my own I always get the lecture from the missus to watch what I’m doing and anything could happen to me on my own, I tell her there’s nothing to worry about as I’m the most dangerous thing in them woods if you see what sort of condition I’m in you wouldn’t think it possible for me to walk up hill for an hour ?

It’s windy every time we go there it seems to funnel down the valley, we went a mile down the road and it was flat calm, think I’ll be out myself amongst the lambs at the weekend they are out in the fields now enjoying this weather so I’m sure there will be a ginger or two about

All longshanx, I was just the lamp man last night, the wind was mental, so with it blowing him about all the way up there, we had a couple of misplaced shots, so a hand dispatch was in order, the bunny in the picture was a tough little begger, it made its way to the stream so after he shot it and tried to drown it he then decided to try and choke it to death, that was one hard rabbit, I was about to step in before the rabbit got the better of him ?

Fantastic to see you back on, hope your keeping well and getting out there ????

Had a couple of hours out tonight with the long one, a walk around some fields that have been put into grass for the sheep and he managed a few.rabbits and and couple of hares, It was blowing a hoolie through the valley but we did ok ?

To be honest I put a load of pigeons out of a tree when we were out and I sh*t myself but would never admit it to the lads ?

I seen one on Sunday, the first thing I thought was if we get a cold snap your buggered mate -
Bit off topic but spotted this chap on the top of the moors this morning, no idea where it came from as the nearest farm is about 5 miles away
-
They are a stunning animal, the second one look like a grumpy old man ?
-
Ha ha, that’s what you need an A10 mole buster, I wonder if I can put a variation in for one ?

Up at the forestry this morning, stunning morning with everything coming to life in this unseasonably warm weather -
My legs are feeling it this morning, even though there was not a lot of action it was a nice few hours out, there is something I like about being in the middle of nowhere with all the sounds of the night, no light pollution and no traffic ?
-
Well I was invited out tonight for a bit of foxy action, I was told that it would be a good old walk to get to where we were going on the top of the North Yorkshire moors, so off I went, when we arrived there was a small amount of mist, we set off walking through the forestry fire breaks and arrived at our location a little under an hour later, as we got there the mist had turned to patchy fog making the nv spotter almost useless, so we had a lamp round through the breaks in the fog and spotted one in a deep gutter as I was the guest I got first go, so up with the rifle and down it went, my ma

Has anyone had a play with the new night master trident yet, a lad I know who works for them told me that they come with an amber led that is spot on not like all the filters that we used to fit to the lamps, I’m trying to talk him into lending me one to have a go with to make my mind up if it’s worth the £180 price tag and any better than my nm800

Stunning ? -
That’s a proper tidy up day, cracking day out, I bet your mates were over the moon with that ?

If his birds didn’t know where they lived by the time of year he was dogging them in it just goes to show he didn’t know what he was doing, luckily we don’t need to worry about the crank next season because he’s been given the boot

Had a wander out with longshanx on one of his spots, there’s a few about, he nailed a couple with the HMR and I had a go with the .22, the added bonus was he got to fill his quota of one hare for the pot along with rabbit and also got to gut his first, we also seen a nice group of roe so all in all a nice walk out ?
-
Yep, sat around the mole hills with the shot gun a few times looking for movement ?
