'Metalwork' is something I know next to nothing about, so it always impresses me seeing other peoples endeavours!

There does seem uncertainty/variation around the country on this. I don't think there is any doubt a doctor/surgery can charge for such a letter, but historically I believe any such charge was due to the region and not the individual. This is a growing problem area and need proper clarification.

They are saleable for scrap, but you need a big pile just to make it worthwhile travelling to the scrap yard. I used to give a load to a lass who made her own range of jewellery/bangles with them.

You're a better man than me, I go out of my way to avoid freehand at all costs, although needs must sometimes, but that's a long way with a .22lr in any circumstances.

Sorry to take this off topic, I've not used Longs for years, and I know many moons back we all used solid rather than HP, but how do you get on with these? Low power, round nose and a rainbow arc!? Oh yes, do they cycle ok from magazine? Cheers

I struggle to see the day my .22lr will go, I actually have 2, a BA and a Semi. After the arrival of the HMR the WMR was almost consigned to history overnight, but without doubt the last few years have seen it making a bit of a comeback. The Americans still love the WMR and there is actually quite a lot of choice of WMR ammo, some quite newly developed, it is better quality than years back as well.

I actually rate the Magtech HP subs, but not easy to find these days and not cheap anymore either. Accurate and big HP which expands well. Not used the heavier Winchesters but the old ones had a big HP which also expanded well and (potentially) made up for variations of accuracy due to the damage they caused. Eley are no more accurate in my 452 than anything else, and expansion leaves a lot to be desired in my view, so a bit of a balancing act really! RWS are another worth looking at, very accurate in mine and even though the HP is pretty small it seems to expand better than th

Always tricky scope advice! Tends to be rather personal. Just start with what you want, ...magnification range, objective size, tube size, reticle type, side parallax, etc etc. After that you're away! (some fair scopes listed above though, take a look as some of the Hawke as well)

I love my WMR, as I always say, it gives me a feeling of confidence! Just the same, I rarely use it for rabbit and I struggle to remember the last time I looked at squirrel with it. I find my .22lr does most things and my HMR is better for slightly longer range than WMR. My WMR's main function is fox and Canada goose! Heavy old round in the WMR a 50g, but we all find ourselves in different circumstances with different needs!

Hunting Licence is a pain and involves a written examination, as well as about £150. Unlike the UK where we bend over backwards the exam/test is in FRENCH, you don't get it is every language and Brail and big print or an interpreter. Possibly a good route to hunting is joining a gun club and going out with members hunting, that was the shortcut in the past. Hands up, this was my experience a few years back, things may have changed a bit since then!

It may not be the preferred choice but this is a trigger kit, not a reworking or replacement trigger. These kits have been available for many years, (particularly the Brooks) and I don't recall any safety issues have arisen.

300 is a long way with a WMR. I think I probably still have a handful of 50g rounds but my WMR lives almost exclusively on Hornady 30g V-Max these days. Works well for me!

The 452 is available in 3/8" and 11mm dovetails. Determine which dovetail you have by measuring across the top of the dovetail. If you measure 0.437" you have an 11mm dovetail. If you measure 0.5" you have a 3/8" dovetail. I don't know why they came in different sizes!

The CZ triggers surprise me, the .22lr tends to be ok(ish) but the HMR and WMR are not (in my experience). The tube changes where the trigger breaks, and call it what you will, when the break last a fortnight the tubes can make a worthwhile difference!

So, it would appear that if you comply with the conditions and get your application logged, then advise NE after the work, i.e. deal with a load of malarkey then you can shoot. Fortunately for me at this time, I have no pressing jobs involving these particular GL so I hope things will have resolved themselves a bit by the time I need to. Canada geese are my main concern in the short term but......
