I'm not following the question, are you suggesting you could afford a bipod with a Howa but not the Tikka? The Tikka wins for me but nothing wrong with Howa, as for accuracy, whichever has the bipod fitted will win!

Reloading Solutions in Kidlington don't seem to have any and are suggesting there are supply issues from the US. They have the V-Max but not sure if the right calibre/weight. Is the V-Max/A-Max debate still ongoing?

Just for balance, i saw a 3/4 grown cub shot in the centre of the bib at 100yds and run. On the same night a full grown fox was shot between the eyes at 70 yds and the bullet richocheted off. The fox was semi stunned but came too fairly quckly and ran off. Although in certain cicumstances you will kill fox with an hmr i personally won't use one i would wait till had something else in my hands. However it's not a problem i now have as i binned the hmr and bought a .17 hornet instead. So, what's wrong with using a HMR in the right circumstances then? EVERY calibre should be used in

Business can survive in this day and age , if run properly Here, here Mitch. I hear what you say and Theoben were not the most impressive on the business front, but I still struggle to see how/why they couldn't survive. I have dealt with a lot worse monkeys who still seem to be in business.

Cheers. They are certainly not a big seller in the UK and I'm struggling to get much first hand information. I looked at the very latest top end model on Sat and they seem far better than the write ups I've seen suggest. Not been on a test drive yet and of course there is the resale/depreciation question. 5 years unlimited mileage warranty seems appealing on the face of it.

Cheers, do you/have you had one?

The white versions are not common my way, last time I actually saw one was in the early hours of the morning, running across the road in front of the motor, must have been 6-8 years ago, and there was no snow anywhere round the area!

It must have been about 12-13 years ago I remember a trip to a Tin Clad barn type affair in Somersham to order a MkII with a pal, it was like a visit to the Holy Grail. It's such a shame that business and a serious quality icon can't survive in this day and age....... RIP Theoben.

What I know about these you could write on a postage stamp. Does anyone own one and can fill in some blanks for me please. On the face of it the Rexton seems good, and good VFM, but like I say, I know nothing about SsangYong or the Rexton. Many thanks.

Alsone, what is that meant to be about? I think you should read ALL my post again. I said....... Unless I'm mistaken you have compared a 20g Browning with 28" barrels to a 12g Revo with 30" barrels and come up with the conclusion the balance is the same, the obvious question is, so what? I did NOT say "so what" when it comes to balance, I said so what to that comparison, you may just as well have compared apples to oranges for all the use that was. If you think all brands have a balance point that is the same across their entire range then you are sorely mistaken and need to pick

I think what people generally say is that a CZ will do all you want in the field, its accurate, reliable and repeatable, and that's all you need in a rifle. After that its down to personal choice of style/weight/make/stock construction/et/etc/etc. The fact is, spending more will not buy you a more accurate, more reliable etc field gun, but the choice is always down to the individual.

I think its all been said!

It looks as if balance wise it might not b disimilar to Browning. Found these: If that's the case, and these are a good sturdy gun, they could be the bargain of the century. Even replacement barrel sets are only just over £120! I'm not following what you are saying/suggesting. Unless I'm mistaken you have compared a 20g Browning with 28" barrels to a 12g Revo with 30" barrels and come up with the conclusion the balance is the same, the obvious question is, so what? There are few badly balanced guns, and the balance will change with model, barrel length, st

There are various mole traps about and over the years they have all been successful. People have their favourites and these days I use the tunnel traps almost exclusively. You will not go wrong with Trap Man, and if you are going that route may I suggest a chat with them as well. There is a lot more to Mole trapping than just digging a hole and putting a trap in. ATB!

Not much doubt in my mind, as others have said, that's fairly typical of the vole.

Bisley make decent pellets all round, and you tend to pay for it. The pellet needs to be matched to the gun/intended use. The Bisley Magnums are good, but heavy in all calibres, and "generally" best suited to higher power guns, for instance 30ft lb + in .22, below 30ft lb I would suggest lighter pellets, there are several around 15-17g worth looking at! Start putting a heavy pellet in a .177 and you start losing what a .177 is all about, and may just as well use a .22. My experience, whatever works for the individual in their situation is the answer. One of the best

What would that 1 inch board be made of, 100ft lb .22lr will struggle to go through 1 inch of "decent" wood at 50 yards! Iv seen them go through ply wood at a lot less lbs than that but what do i know you have all the answers mac It was a valid question, you air gun boys seem to think your air rifles possess magical properties very often, I have 12 ft lb and FAC air, and a whole load of other rifles, and yes, I have most of the answers, thats what happens over the years. Fact is a 40 ft lb will NOT go through 1 inch of any decent wood at 50 yards. Rotten chipbo

Live Fox Trapping Bait
Deker replied to ben the bunny killer's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
If you are on a Chicken farm that seems the obvious bait. Whatever you like, the fox has a cast iron stomach and will eat almost anything. Dog biscuits are my usual choice in domestic environments but almost anything can work. -
As everyone knows those magpies are a pain in many respects, and getting close enough is always challenging. They tend to disappear way out of range when I'm about, I guess the word has spread!

It has been suggested for many years lead is not good for us, but we have been eating wildlife with lead shot in it for 150 years or more. Some people have eaten considerable quantities, and we still sell the stuff in the shops and restaurants with warnings about the possibility of lead shot. As far as I'm aware no side effects have been reported/found of eating all this lead, and if it was that bad the H&S brigade would have had it banned in food long ago.

Snap E traps in AF boxes, what I tend to use a lot of. The box funnels the rat to the kill zone and is very effective. Use also as a normal bait box if required! My supplies come from the trade who will not supply end users, but you will find them if you search about. Cheers Others makes are available!
