  1. Maybe you ought to take a Barrister's opinion, on the matter. The Law Commission did in 2015 in a report reviewing Firearms Licensing (although it does concentrate heavily on antique and converted firearms, but nevertheless touched on the weight given to Firearms Guidance): http://www.lawcom.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Firearms_and_the_Law_R-Fortson_090715.pdf Section 4.20: Good grief Alsone, of course it doesn't have the force of Law, who said it did? However, when given Guidance by their Head Office, which Police region do you think will ever win a case in cont
  2. Also one point, yes, if a fox comes along while I'm Rabbiting with my .22lr I'll take the shot. But my FAC .22lt is not condition for fox, so if asked to do so I can't go looking for a fox. Where as the .17 hmr on my FAC says fox, so if asked to shoot a fox this would be my only available caliber .22lr not being an option. If I am not mistaken, which I may well be, If fox are classed as vermin and pest why can you not purposely go look for a fox with a .22lr. For whatever reason it may be the safest calibre for the situation in hand. In the UK a fox is listed as a pest species which may me cu

  4. The Home Office is in effect the Head Office of the Police regions. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for any region to win any case in contradiction of the Guidance of their Head Office, especially as it can be easily demonstrated by many who have rimfires conditioned for Fox and/or Any Other Lawful Quarry they work! The Police regions simply don't have a case.
  5. There may be some that will give you an argument on that, but that is not what I'm saying. My comments all along have been based on starting with an Ultra and spending a load of money on it to improve it! ......NOT to personalise it!
  6. ERRRR some one like little hunter started shooting at the age of 8 to small to carry a bigger rifle around (even throw he could shoot a hw100, raider, hw97, pro sport and so on with precise accuracy out to 40 yrds off a bench at the range ) But not to hunt with as most are to big and heavy for him and the ultra suits him down to the ground and will hold its own with the top rifles costing double the price of a new ultra and will last him for years to come and then some And not every one has top of the range money to spend on a top of the range rifle BUT YOU CAN MAKE IT
  7. South Yorkshire Police dont allow 22 rimmy or 17HMR for Fox as I am sure others don't. It was a nice surprise to see it added with out asking. Apparently they do! David's in Kent isn't he? I know for a fact, and I'm sure Charlie will back me up on this, that SY insist on a CF grant for fox. Not saying there's never an exception, but that's their usual policy. You can't have INSIST and USUAL for the same description, they obviously don't insist if there are exceptions. Someone needs to take their balls in their hands and stuff S Yorks "policy" up their asre. The
  8. http://www.federalpremium.com/products/rimfire.aspx This appears a common misconception, the HMR seems to get a bad press for wind drift, but Federal kindly offer a 10mph wind drift chart for all their ammo, and you will note the HMR performs better than .22lr! I always find it odd the HMR gets a bad press on this, when in fact the .22lR in virtually all its forms is actually worse, and I don't recall anyone slagging that off for poor wind performance!
  9. They should all be ok, and only you can decide what you want, because I have no need for any of them, my 452 Silhouette is fine for me!

  12. I struggle to understand how anyone can answer your question without knowing what you want to do with it?

  14. The logical (if expensive) route is get Professional advise (solicitor). I suspect you will now have a problem getting a SGC whatever the outcome!
  15. There are set rules about this and the 3 year jail as mentioned means a life ban. Just the same, as with any flawed background, human nature alone means, even if you still qualify, you may have a little struggle.
  16. Not sure which section to post this in but help me out please.. A client told me yesterday they had clipped their Bantams wings to stop them flying up into the trees to escape the fox, because the local farmer told them the fox will just sit at the bottom of the tree and stare at the Bantams (Hypnotise them) and they fall out of the tree. Apart from the fact that sounds daft anyway, as with clipped wings the Bantams seem to have even less chance of escaping the fox, but its a new one on me, has anyone else heard this or is it a wind up? Cheers
  17. I have a site where the owners cat loves the rabbit head, I leave one out for it and it just eats the head, skull and everything then leaves the rest, the rabbits look well odd afterwards!
  18. Absolute rubbish ! Come out of "Indoor ranges" and into the hunting world. I can picture your results on a HFT coarse . Whilst I don't necessarily quite accept the original comments, what is your Absolute rubbish about? Are you suggesting a springer is better than PCP in the hunting world and on HFT for some reason, if so, can you explain why please!? Cheers
  19. Fox trapping can be frustrating and long winded, sometimes a complete waste of time. Other times they walk straight in. Types of trap, location, bait, etc etc are no guarantee of a catch, neither is experience, after you have done everything in your power I will be the first to admit there is very commonly still an element of luck.
  20. My boys Jack Russell won't touch them raw, but loves them cooked....complete tart!
  21. Yes, it's what I always do. Saves being without one. I'd guess this is where regional variation crops up again, and indeed, possibly the specific individuals treatment in each region. I can do this, but I know of others who have tried and been refused until there's is sold. Its got to be worth a try/word with your region anyway!
