NSP Engineering bought Falcon and Air Arms and they traded from NSP premises in Hailsham. I believe the model you have is prior to the name change and is therefore a Titan, but their models evolved (as did all manufacturers) and would have been serviced/repaired by Falcon. Not sure what the spares/parts situation is now but at a guess I'd say not great! Shame they are no longer with us!

I still use the older type lamping kits, I have a Max and Mini, also Night Vision, but I'm also using the smaller torches now as well, simply depends on the job/circumstances. Pros and cons to all of them, but I have to admit the torches are getting quite good!

Depends on your definition of long range and your budget. I had a Long Range £900 Bushnell a while back, returned under the Trade Descriptions in short order, best elevation I could get with it was about a metre low at 600 yards on my .243. Some of the Nightforce will deal with 1000yards but they have a price tag! Nightforce Benchrest scope (on .308) which frankly makes 1000yards quite easy (the gun may help a bit to).

Brilliant...and just look at their faces!

Foxes are 24/7 and 365, certainly best to keep on top of them and you can never relax, just when you think you may have a breather the next lot turn up. I have a free range chicken/geese/duck farm and the fox is pretty obviously public enemy No1, I take out around 14 foxes every year there and they just keep coming!

That's around 570ft sec so we are around .22 figures, except pellet diameter is smaller? Sorry, not trying to take this of track, but will/does it hold its energy like a .22 and how does the arc compare with a similar .22? I'm thinking it should retain better penetration but give a smaller wound channel. Not sure where I'm going here but this may be giving the .177 a bit more versatility, but 16.2gr is still very heavy for a .177. Is shot count still down (PCP) on .22, I guess it will be?! Sorry/Cheers!

Out of curiosity what sort of speed and ft lb are you getting from these heavy .177, particularly the 16.2gr? Cheers

THINKING OF SELLING MY HW100 177 CARBINE
Deker replied to bigmac 97kt's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Why bother selling, if you don't shoot it anymore keep it for knocking in fence posts, its got the weight!! -
As others have mentioned let them crack on, frankly I have never known how they get away with it, but they tend to do me favours with their pricing, wasps are commonly the most obvious.

Any haul with a magpie gets my vote!

Great to see some real life testing, and some interesting results showing there!
-
Cracking stuff and some great guns here. Springers can certainly bring results but I struggle to see what would make me buy a new one over a PCP today. Just the same, I still have my trusty (and very primitive by todays standards) Airsporter and have no plans to move it on, but it only comes out for nostalgia, not hunting!

In honesty I have no experience of that specific scope, but in reality you have to spend a LOT of money to get any scope crisp and clear at its maximum mag. Most use higher mag as well in my experience of FT, commonly 50x. If you have an opportunity try other peoples scopes and/or make sure you have a good look through whichever scope you are thinking about at the dealer; Country/Game/Shooting shows can be useful to try a few as well! Whilst you could use any target scope for field work they tend to be rather different, up to you!

SPRINGER DIY IMPROVEMENTS
Deker replied to maxwell's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
If you are not interested in increasing the power, all you can really do is make things a little smoother, in some cases it may also improve accuracy but whatever you do you only have 12ft lb to start with and whilst that can achieve good results its still just 12ft lb. As mentioned above, people tend to over grease/oil thinking this will help, whilst on the whole it will have a negative effect, you need just enough, then stop! -
As I've mentioned before a Hornady 17g HMR V-Max and a Hornady 30g WMR V-Max fly very close to each other out to around 100. I have both, and the WMR uses almost exclusively Hornady V-Max these days, but my last WMR absolutely loved the 40g CCI Maxi Mag HP (my latest WMR no so keen on these). As usual, for field work I consider you will find it hard to beat a CZ as an overall package! This happens to be mine, but I "believe" you can get them with a plastic stock these days, if you can that would be my choice!

Moderator Messing Up My Zero????
Deker replied to Andrew Russ's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Ha ha!, missed that gem, a response would have been good from the OP! -
I'd forgotten all about them but a friend had one when I was a lad, no idea which model, but it did seem to work pretty well I remember!

Sticks, bipods, trees, fences, gates car bonnet etc, everyone has their preferences. I'm not big on sticks at all, they are all a pain to carry around as far as I'm concerned, but I do use quite high bipods at times, or any other type of support I can find. Everyones shooting circumstances are different and we all have our preferences. Good luck in your quest here!

The pleasure of walking the countryside seems to be increasing all the time for me, if I can keep the clients happy at the same time its a double win!

Long time since I've shot in Scotland but I do remember the last time I was there it was very close to midsummer day and it surprised me how much lighter it was that much further north. Sounds like a good trip!
-
Normal form unfortunately. If you have the time then wait, but I suspect you will be sitting on your hands for a long time. As already mentioned the CZ (and probably others) will do the same job a lot cheaper. Personally, I have no need for anything more than the CZ for field use! Top 4 are CZ then my trusty Magtech semi!

Penetration is dependent on a lot of things, that rabbit looks like a youngster and the shot looks high on the back of the head, IF that is the case there is very little to go straight through and whatever bone it did/may have gone through is not properly hardened! The .25 is not known for its penetration in 12ft lb at all, simply due to the pellet circumference and low power, like for like a .177 will penetrate more. Where a .25 is likely to gain is energy retention due to its mass. But as already mention on this thread the arc of a .25 in 12ft lb is horrendous!
-
Old phone books used to be the thing, back in the day when they were 2" thick. It was easy to flick through page numbers to check/compare penetration.

Oh yes, and many years back now I did select a relatively young vixen in late summer to try. I thought that would give me the best/tastiest/tender option, carefully butchered and joint and leg delicately roasted. I'll not be giving it a second try!
