  1. I notice a few responses already, of course they eat all the Juniors playing the course and run off with your golf ball as well. Sorry!
  2. I think you will find the majority of shooters have already asked a lot of questions over the years and found what works for them. Mr Ackley and his theories have only ever led to very low level market penetration. What...………………………. explains the popularity of .204 and .22-250, and in the older days, .220 swift...…………... they are NOT popular and never have been, particularly the Swift which has only ever been a small niche market. The .204 and 22-250 without doubt have a market and are good at what they are good at, but they are NOT popular (big selling) calibres!
  3. All PCP's are prone to minor variation of power due to heat/cold, hot air expands, and the reverse, if you cock your gun and walk around in the heat, pressure in the confined space WILL increase, (assuming it has had time to absorb additional heat between reservoir and chamber) and this is likely to have an effect on speed/energy. These changes will all be relatively minor as regardless of temperature (hot or cold) the rifle will allow the right pressure per squirt, it will only be changes in temperature after the correct pressure generated by cocking has changed that may effect energy.
  4. Any sort of Customer Service seems in short supply these days, good to see a company looking after people!
  5. As above, even 2 guns off the production line next to each other can like different pellets/bullets. You need to decide on your application and try as many suitable pellets as possible, the difference in performance and power may well surprise you!
  6. Well, my prediction was wrong, but crumbs, don't England make it hard work!
  7. The very one, edited out of one of the pics, a few tails visible at top.
  8. Whilst this is a Skeleton and Thumbhole and Falcon, you we see the similarity in the thumb hole stock, you will also notice what Falcon do to stop any fouling of the bolt/cocking mechanism! Yours is simply a right handed thumbhole without the joining timber at the top!
  9. A few of us had the old Ultra and hated them, as I've said, mine spent more time at BSA than with me, we can go round and round with this, I have already accepted yours appears to have worked ok, mine seriously didn't. Whatever you want to say it changes nothing about the heap of junk I had called an Ultra!!
  10. This is what happens if you get out enough rather than reading books, it doesn't happen every day and it was a .243 V-Max, around 80-120 yards (my best recollection, it was a few years ago) ONE shot, absolutely destroyed! PS, not my shot but my shooting buddy that day (that's him in the pic) we were actually after the bunnies, don't ask, that's my HMR in the second pic.
  11. Sorry, I'm really not trying to take this off topic but this was a .223 HP, and around 180 yards, but..the red mist on head contact was unreal...……………… Do you know what it is yet?
  12. 100% agree, but I don't have the time to devote to a dog and my life! My lad bought a shooting dog, only to find it was a complete tart, but we all love it just the same!
  13. The one in the pic above IS a thumbhole stock, they just opened up the hole at the top. ATB!
  14. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? You must have had the only one that worked, it was pants, that's why so much of it got changed! In fairness, I understand the newer version is a very different beast, but I have no experience of it!
  15. Of my centrefires I would agree that the .223 comes out more than any of the others for fox. As I think many here know, I do a lot of garden foxes, and they are virtually exclusively rimfires, which are all slow in the great scheme of shooting, but work just fine!
  16. Doesn't matter what I bet on I always lose, so guess I better put some money on England for tonight! That would be the first bet I would be happy to lose!
  17. To qualify that, I don't have one now but I had one of the early versions, it was the biggest load of pants it has ever been my misfortune to own, spent more time back at BSA than in my hands, even more trouble than the shocking Hatsan shotgun I bought my lad. If the OP is after a CHEAP rabbit rifle I would suggest it essential he avoids early Ultras!
  18. This period of heat is most unusual, personally I never complain about the heat, the weather is always "too something" in this country. Just the same, it has an effect on the hunter and the quarry!
  19. Green Light...…. I thought that was going to be about Alien sightings in the sky or your new lamp filter...…...
  20. ?????????????? So, can't remember, not sure if its true, look it up yourself! I've also seen the little 204 surface splash on a fox! Information is king, but the information needs to be accurate, years of experience can often show more that a few pages of supposition!
  21. On that basis most centrefires will struggle to kill!
  22. Anyway...any pics of dead Big Cats...………..or even live ones in the countryside?!
