I'm not familiar with the different names, were they in Victoria? I have a mate who is right into the different lines of whippets, he also has really good Russells and Patterdales. He lives in the Central Tablelands NSW.
Ozwhip Russells, no man is more fair dinkum, dedicated and knows more about terriers than me. Parents proven on crocs and scrub bulls. No saluki in them so perfect recall. They are living legends just like me ?️. $85000 deposit per pup.
The odd litter of terrier pups I bred I did give to people who would do something with them. I sold one to a pet home and they returned it as it was too much to handle. I didn't make a DVD telling people how fantastic a dogman I was, lol.
But making vids about his dogs and his name does equal advertising and puppy peddling. He might be the nicest bloke and have good dogs but it comes across like that to me.
I've seen that in Mastiff/Dane pig dogs over here, the first cross 60 to 70kg or more and down the line they end up around the 35kg mark. I thought it was from selective breeding but maybe it's natural for dogs to get back to a healthy size for a canine?
As I say I don't know the guy and they'd be a useful lurcher, I'm proud of the dogs I didn't breed so yeah. It's not like it's an unusual cross though, the Oz stags were bred 250 years ago that way and still are if you can find pure lines. So good on him he's producing a good hunter if he gets it right but it's hardly anything already tried and tested and not sure it should be stamped with his name.
I don't know anything about him but the bloke is obviously proud of his dogs as we should be but it's a shame when ego gets in the way. We have a few of these blokes in Oz and while they are knowledgeable dog people they ruin it by being wankers about it.
We used to catch large numbers years ago, crate them for the days there and slaughter, process them before leaving. They would have food and water but about 1/4 would be killed and partly eaten by the other rabbits. Probably stress, I don't know.
I got my chihuahuas from a guy who lives on 250 acres and he has around 30 running wild around the bush, like the original dogs. That's why they have lived to nearly 20 with no illness.
I told you they hunt everything over there plus guard the camps, I'm serious. They would have eaten the dogs too in former times. They are like a semi domestic dingo type. The genetic problems are from show breeding but they can still live through deadly disease that would kill a dane.
