  1. It is about time you got a 'like' buttom Walshie. To be honest I will not be shooting any further than 150 - 200 mts so lets take the long stuff out of the way. I think I will not bother with either the Hornet and .22-250 Phil
  2. Thanks guys, I should say that ammo costs do come into it albeit to a small degree as a retired ole tart, I do have to be a little careful although if I shoot enough, I will look into reloading to both help on cost but also for the enjoyment of reloading. I used to load shotgun shells for years until they were banned in CPSA competitions so I sold all that gear, more is the pity. It is unlikely I will shoot deer other than muntjack occasionly. Would the .243 be better in wind than the .222/.223 I have heard some very good things about Hornet .22 but I got the impression that the
  3. I would have a go with the method I list abpve that Jimmy passed on, it can only help and may be enough for the farmer, you would get brownie points as you sorted it for free. Phil
  4. £204 plus carriage for an AA410...........................not a bloody chance would I pay that sort of money on a cheap air rifle like that. Phil
  5. I am going to put in for a variation soon although Humberside are not doing any tickets at the moment but nevertheless here is my question anyway. My pal and myself have some decent sized perms and whilst we use .22lr and wmr, we are still fancying a .223 but as pointed out be our firearms officer, a .222, .223 and a .243 are all spot on for fox. So gentlemen, what are the differences / merits in these cals for foxing. Phil
  6. Get in touch with Cheshire Gun Rooms Phill as they may be able to handle the job for you either directly or indirectly. Helpful people there I have found on the dealings I have had with them. Phil
  7. You could always try some cream for that itch Mitch. Phil
  8. Items 1, 3, 5 and 6 have now been sold Phil
  9. Lovely to meet you Del, I am pleased you are happy with the rods. Phil
  10. WTF...............................................A Wildcat yes, but you selling the Crown, well now that is a big surprise Mitch, wish a had a few hundred quid spare ? Phil
  11. Funnily enough we have had a few flighting over the cottage and dropping in somewhere in the village. This morning I was in the car picking up a few things from the village shop as I got into the car, about 40 greys came over me very very low so I followed them and on the edge of the village on house has a pond, about 40' in diameter with assorted carp / koi and now 40 greys joining them. That is pretty crazy, flock of geese on a garden pond albeit a large garden and pond but there it is. Phil
  12. The sticks stay in the bag, never use them. Phil
  13. A couple of years ago I dumped my plastic crow deeks and bought a dozen full body flock finish deeks, bloody hell what a difference they made, not only getting higher interest from the crows but the pidgeon also seemed more at ease regularly dropping in. Last year I bought a Nordik crow call which with just a little practice certainly helps to attract their attention. I have two farms where the crows can be a real pain and both are suitable for me to leave the hide in place without some prat pinching it. This works really well as I leave a two day break in between shooting which in turn
  14. I bought the 99 in .177 flavour a few weeks ago and got to say they are superb. I am rubbish with a springer but this little gun is spot on. I have only shot a few pigeon and rabbits but must say these rifles are accurate as hell and light to carry around. At £225, well worth the money. Phil
  15. I just bought a cheap set of weaver QR mounts from ebay as a temporary fix on mu Impact but in fact they were spot on and gave me no reason to change them for some more expensive mounts. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quick-Release-Weaver-Rifle-Scope-Mounts-Medium-Profile-25-4mm-1-Tube-/222214009065?hash=item33bcfcb0e9 Phil
  16. I also have the Tx1 with a 16'' barrel, a cracking little rifle although I fitted the alternative pistol grip and beavertail forend which collectively they off er a much better feel to the gun in my opinion. Hope you enjoy it, they seem to like RWS subs and Hornady HV ammo. Phil
  17. One of my favourite quarrt, just love shooting crows over decoys. Nice shooting SD Phil
  18. Great gun, great cartridges and great fun, well done that man. I have to say while the cartridges are very good, I use Hull Cartridge superfast 7.5, 27gr. Fast, brings them down, superb over decoys and less out of your pocket. Phil
  19. Jimmy gave me some info to try on a pals rifle which I did and it worked very well. You need some 0000 grade wire wool, I cut a piece off the role and sprayed my gun oil all over the wool, then carefully and lightly rub all over the problem area of the barrel. I kept checking the area so you do not overdue the process. If this does the job for you, it was my clever technique but if it doesn't work...........................it was Jimmy's fault ? ? This made a big improvement to my pal's rifle Phill so worth a go. Make sure you do not get a more coarse wire wool. Jimmy told me
  20. Good move Phill, I had five spares for my wildcats all aluminium and all from ebay but those pRices are spot on. Phil
  21. Nice photos SD. When you painted out her face, I thought how sad these days are that we have to do things like that. I was stopped from taking photos at my grandson's school play for the infants. I could buy some if I want and when I asked why I couldn't take any, the head said parents are not happy with people taking photos of the children. Shame and a sign of the times............................anyway, enjoy them I say. Phil
  22. I take it these are no longer available SD. Phil
  23. Yes please post the results DB as these things are always interesting to have tucked in the back of my mind for when I need them. I will see about getting some after you have done your tests as there are one or two places they wouls be very handy or at least it is a case of haveing more than one string to your bow. Phil
  24. Yes each to our own Ian, must admit I always thought what a waste of a bloody good cartridge until I had a go and for many years I ran a club and shot in local and national competitions all over the uk but as you say, it is not everyones cup of tea and that I fully understand. Only wish I could still afford to shoot in competitions but the pension doesn't really allow for that, more is the pity. Phil
