Benjamin Marauder BP air pistol
philpot replied to Andrew Packham's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Welcome aboard Andrew......................................I hope to god you are not related to that moron, Chris Packham. Try this company https://www.daileisure.co.uk/benjamin-air-rifles/ Phil -
What range are you shooting at DB. I tried some a while ago but useless at 25mt, blown grouping. Phil

I have been giving some thought to replacing my Primos Trigger Stick tripod and looking around for something a bit different, something that has other uses.....................hmmmmm Well one of the technical advantages is that the support area is always warm so no freezing up in the cold weather, good to keep your hands warm as well. ? ? ? Sorry guys but I love clay shooting. I would be really p1ssed off if I was not able to go and smash the little black or orange or white or green, did I say black anyway those discs that turn into dust when you do it right. It has lined my pockets in comps then emptied them again when I have shot like a twat. LOVE IT Phil

Not a word about the new magazine, how odd. It's an improved Wildcat................................nuff said.....................................want one, end of... A great pity the review was not done by Matt Dubber or Ted Bier who actually know how to do a review. Phil

I have used the bore snake on all my shotguns to good effect and have been toying with one for my tikka .22lr and my CZ wmr. I guess I would use the Garlands solvent cleaner with it as well. Phil

Mine were Mk1 versions which didn't have an adaptor as standard but I cannot speak for the Mk2 or 3. Best to check with a good fx dealer as Si said like Pickering guns, really nice guy and knows his stuff with fx guns. Phil
-
Yes they are, I had two and they are quiet anyway but one came with an adaptor to take a mod which I popped on a Swift Stumpy.............................not even a whisper. I didn't keep the mod on as I never found the need for one shooting outside. Phil

Nice boots, you need to stop Ethan growing any more Jimmy, if he is now a size 11, he must have shot up since I saw him last, mind you that must be two or is it three years ago now when I think about it. Phil

Welcome to the mad house. As Villaman said. Just confirm what the calibre is Clueless for better advice. Phil

A proper old fashioned gunsmith is Halesworth, Suffolk which is only a few minutes away from the international clay shooting ground belonging to John Bidwell, Highlodge, a place we stay at at least a couple of times a year and I cannot visit the area without calling into Richardsons gun shop. You need to visualise the scene, the shop is not neat and tidy, in fact just the opposite but has this wonderful old world feel and the two brothers, in their brown smocks are building a gun or hand making a stock or rebuilding a rifle or...............well you get the picture and on the workbench are alw

Send an email to Edgar Btothers as they decide which Hoppes products are imported. Phil

Nowt wrong with your woodwork SL just the job and I too have been thinking of doing one for ages but didn't because I wanted to make the front support adjustable in height, didn't work out how so it has not been made. Phil

Which is it you want, side focus or AO because you have said both in your advert. An SF version will be more than £80 I would have thought so perhaps you will need to increase the amount you will pay. Good luck in your search. Phil

My shooting partner bought two Hawke Airmax Compact scopes for two of his guns BUT he said today that he is going to have to change one of them because he can't see the cross hairs at longer range. Now is it me or what, if you can see the reticle at 20mts, you can see the reticle at 100mts. The reticle doesn't change with distance so I am puzzled with this one. I have been thinking about this over the last couple of hours and I think it is a case of can't see the point of aim clearly with such a fine reticle but what to do. Yes of course he could look for a s/f scope with thicker cross h

Must admit the laminate 110k is lovely, I really would love one and can't disagree with the Wildcat Mk3 Mitch and I would also go for that in .22fac but the 100BP hmmm not impressed, the handle feels all wrong and way over priced in my humble opinion, bloody horrible looking thing. Phil

From salt or fresh water Gav. We get a few big sea trout here in North Lincs but never caught one, even had them next to our boat (back when I had a share in a 30' fishing boat) so close at times that you could net them if you knew they were going to come up at that moment in time ? Well done Gav, a red letter day mate. On fly or spinner Phil

My pal has the standard 110 in .22 so we had a direct comparision and found no difference whatsoever up to 45mt. we only used them at shorter ranges of say 25 - 40mt as we would normally use our Impacts fac rifles for 90% of our hunting. If you are really needing as high a shot count as possible, the standard length version will give more shote per fill but whilst the 110 is lighter than the 100, I just preferred the 110k for it's lightness (same weight as an FX Wildcat) and speed of handling and will get another when funds are available which is unlikely to be soon or ever now my dear wi

Thanks Mark for the offer, I do have over half a tin of AA Field Express pellets which were amazing in my old TX for accuracy but I didn't use the TX for hunting as it was too bloody heavy to walk around with. I tried light pellets in my old HW100 and for some reason my kill rate went downhill and when I switched to Bis Mags, it went through the roof so it put me off light pellets for hunting and at the same time gave me great confidence in the heavier pellet, not a closed book though. I know you, Mitch and others use light pellets to great effect and I am not disgarding the idea of

Okay taking into account the different things said about cleaning these two calibres, have you any thoughts, bearing in mind the points about delicate tubes, do any of you use a bore snake in preference to rod and brushes. Phil
-
Okay thanks Simon. I have bought a 99 in .177 flavour a couple of weeks ago and using JSB Exact at present with good and accurate results but I did wonder what the Heavies would be like as an alternative if I use the HW99 for hunting. Early days yet and I have a few tins to use up before looking further afield. Phil

Sell the spare wheel off the Bentley Mitch and you could get one. ? Phil

I am pleased to hear he is well SD. I have not been on the competition circuit for many years now but it is always nice to bump into an old competitor as I have done a few times. Once spoke to a guy who asked if I still shoot in that fcuking white cap, this took me back a bit and I said I was amazed he could remember me wearing that cap. He then said he hated that bloody cap and I asked why, his response was that he may have been shooting quite well then he would catch sight of my cap and say something like...................'oh fcuk, he's bloody here. I know that He was beaten be

I had the 110k in .22 which I thought was superb but sold it to buy my wmr rifle and is on my list to replace with a .177 of the same. The 'k' version has a smaller shot count although more than thw 100 series but weighs in at only 2.7kg making it both short and very quick to use. Phil

Well done DB always a great read. Phil
