  1. Lovely photograph SD I had a short session with my pal's 20 gauge o/u which I really enjoyed and is on my wish list. A good day / night forcast today so we will be out for a session tonight but before that, I need to go and take in the trail cameras to see if out hunch is right or charlie but to be honest, I have a feeling the problem in this particular case is badgers not foxes. We will see what is on the camera. Phil
  2. I am a member of BASC but in all honesty, I am staying a member for two reasons, firstly the opportunity to use their doctors for renewal of my shotgun / fac tickets should an issue with my own doctors come up next time round. Secondly, a combined thing really, free entry into the Game Fair and a reduced membership fee as I am an old tart. I am not convinced that BASC is as good as they make out but apart from the CPSA, I don't know who will stand in our corner when needed although I am not so sure BASC do a good job on that count either. I will stay a member for the time being despite th
  3. Good friends are hard to come by and here is a great example of one friend there for another. I think a trip south may be in order very soon boys, get your breakfast stock in Si. Phil
  4. As villaman just said, you really need to look outside the box. Most people will be asking for rabbit and woodpigeon shooting but perhaps feral pigeon crapping all over a farmers tractor or the rats that run around the place may be of more interest to him than the rabbits or woodpigeon. In other words look for the less popular quarry which may get you in the door and don't forget allotments as the gardeners will soon tell you if they have rabbit or rat or crow problems and churches can have big problems with feral pigeons. Although not easy, some industrial estates or old buildings can ha
  5. No need to apologise meece, all good fun as far as I am concerned. Phil
  6. I think you will find the Butterball is an english brand turkey with lumps of butter pushed under the skin for which you will pay silly money when it costs pennies to do yourself. Anyway, a few nice guns theremeece, I am one of those who really do not like s/s double trigger straight stock shotguns, just prefer a well balanced o/u with single trigger, we all like different things. My DT10 is a gun which never fails to give me pleasure every time I use it. Phil
  7. The Tikka rimfires are good guns but I am the first to say the stock is not great in terms of the fit to the shooter. I have fitted a new grip and beaver tail forend add-ons which have improved the FEEL of the gun in the shoulder but I would also buy a new stock if pension allowed. I have used a Tikka with a GRS Breserk stock and what a difference, I will be keeping an eye open for one as time goes by and funds build back up. Phil
  8. Nice drop from £500 or more on the laminate Mitch, nice one mate, wish I could afford one for my Tikka rimmy. Phil
  9. Yes they do. What sort of price Mitch if you don't mind saying. Phil
  10. I feel the envy invading me Mitch, really really really like these, great move in my opinion mate. I thought you were going for a Boyds stock, mind you, I think you have made a far better decision. Phil
  11. Yes thanks, I got in touch but he sold the rods today......oh well. More or less decided to buy an AFAW 11' Estuary rod as it seems to be a nice little rod. Thanks again. Phil
  12. I just got my daughter to show me on facebook how to find and then contact your friend (I am an old tart who doesnt do facebook thingy) so hope to get a reply soon. I have put several questions to him so we will see how things go but thank you for your help. Phil
  13. I am inclined to agree with the above. The sound of a .22 or .25 hitting a back stop will be much louder than a sub 12 and the noise from the gun may be an issue. Go for it asking for an open ticket Rez. Phil
  14. Thank you. The one on the right is the same as mine but I don't know which is which and I take it that your friend is selling locally as there is no talk of delivery by courier. Is this on facebook or some other place, sorry I don't do facebook so I do not know. Phil
  15. My sort of shooting SD, in the warm over a dead rabbit sending my pal out across the field to head charlie in my direction ? Phil
  16. I have just bought two soft continental rods but I would still be interested to know about his, condition, a photo or two and price delivered please. Thank you Phil
  17. She WILL get there Jimmy, she is like you mate, tough. Phil
  18. We went out yesterday which was the first proper session since the storms started over a month ago and boy did we enjoy it so I know how you felt my friend. As a bonus we took a couple of rabbits, a fox and half a dozen rats using our FX Impact fac .25 air rifles and Tikka .22lr rimmy. Now looking forward to going again but in the meantime my wife and I have just been to set up a range in my quarry perm out to 115mt for setting the WMR rifles on zero and holdover points. I think we will also be doing a similar set of holdover points for the .22lr rifles as they have had new scopes on so
  19. In the US, there is a following for large calibre air rifles, they have 50 cal which needs to be linked to an air bottle to keep up with the air demand, why, well as meece said, because they can. Is there another reason for these super power air rifles, yes I think there is, firstly these are not designed for the UK or ever will be but there is a learning curve and degree of knowledge gained by producing guns like this in order to develop new systems that will benefit airgun manufacture and the way production takes place. Just remember that in the world of car manufacture, F1 motor racing has
  20. Yes I know that but wondered what the bite detection is like on the estury rods when catching flatties because I have a number of rods that are great for the cod or skate but not the best bite detection so I want to ensure I can see the flounder / sole actually take the bait. The conoflex will be a tough act to follow but bite detection on this type of rod for me is the most important aspect. Phil
  21. I mean't to ask you, what is the bite detection like with flatties and which length rod do you have, 11' or 12'. Phil
  22. Thank you for that and they are some that I looked at but as this type of rod is not my main usage, I am not wishing to spend too much unless I sell the conoflex and buy a pair of new rods which may be the way to go. I will take be watching to see what comes up but will have a serious look at your rods again. My rod is the 11' Mk1 but I was not aware they ever did a 12' version of the Flattie Fanatic, certainly never seen one. Phil
