  1. What rifle are you getting and are you a springer user, if not, you will need to practice until you are able to be on target every time you shoot. I have been shooting for years but I do not regard myself as a good shot with a springer so I practice.................a lot and bit by bit, I am getting there. If it is new, it will need the barrel cleaning, then if you are using a scope, check or set zero at the distance you will be shooting at. Phil
  2. It will tell you on the side of the action. I really cannot remember what pressure my Mk1 ran at. Phil
  3. Ian, your shooting reports are a thing of joy and you have not dissapointed here either, you need to write a book my friend because you have a way with words which is always a pleasure to read. Interesting point as well. Phil
  4. Oh SD you have described me so well ................................................ are you sure we have not met ? You know when coming from a point of being a centre fire virgin, like wat I is, I keep my aging eyes open to all ideas, after all it is the likes of friends and forums that help to form an opinion in the first place. I know that my WMR will take the vast majority of my fox shooting BUT I have the interest in going into CF as part of this all absorbing hobby / sport of ours. My shooting partner and myself have land where the CF would be handy because we are facing rang
  5. Whats this Mitch, are we going up the calibre level then. Phil
  6. Right I will have a closer look in that case Del..........................................oh, I have to pop in there tomorrow, now theres a coincidence don't you think ? Phil
  7. I was looking at a really nice .222 Tikka whilst in the rfd the other day Del, just a passing view but I might take that one off the rack next time I am in. Phil
  8. For free is a win win. Have you tried it out yet. Phil
  9. You can either get a conversion to fit the picatiny rail so conventional bipods will fit as below. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rifle-bipod-quick-release-mount-FTR-F-class-benchrest-hunting-shooting/264321562984?hash=item3d8acaf968:m:myyhzH1bGQK70jwHBNzdpZA https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Adjustable-Metal-Spring-Swivel-Bipod-Adapter-for-Hunting-Shooting-Air-Rifle-Gun/202978404955?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2f4274aa5b:g:eS4AAOSwwHNeqZ3l&enc=AQAEAAACYIQvEcHUrT7nmUC3yY5qbPyaBN1nJEDYW8MyypsJPgXKCsFG3Zkm%2FydhIZrjCFJJ0gjGRv73su09LEhn%2BB0EAonB5NIEz4lFI57fmuP4KAjD67RLIjjVP8XOqulBrEQVWwWn
  10. Ah we are getting the wrong end of the stick here gentlemen, my fault. When I refer to range shooting, it is for my pleasure not competition, not interested in that. We are having a 300mt range being put together and only 10mins from my cottage so when I said about getting the twist rate right, it is a sporting gun which at times will be used on the range and for fox plus very occassionly the odd muntjack...................thats it. I may well shoot 50 - 100 rounds of wmr on our own range for pleasure and this is what I have in mind for the 222 / 223 / 243 but not the same number of shots a
  11. Thank you deker, barrel twist was the next item as I want to be able to use on the range as well as for foxing so twist is important for range work as I understand it. I was advised that a 1in12 for example, would not be suitable for range work unless I had, say three shots, rest it to cool down etc etc whereas a 1 in 9 would be fine for everything, I think that was the right way round. Howa 1500, 223 is a 1 in 9 but I think the Tikka T3x is a 1 in 12. A bit of a mine field is this but I cannot afford to get it wrong which is why I am looking into the situation in advance of putting in
  12. An interesting read. https://hardairmagazine.com/ham-columns/airgun-pellet-penetration-the-real-story/
  13. Sorry that should be Hard Air magazine not Airgun Nation, that a shop...........................? Phil
  14. Nice write up Ian, I felt like I was there. Phil
  15. Just been reading a review on Airgun Nation magazine regarding Hades .25 pellets and in that review, it stated that the factory were switching their tins from push on lids to screw top tins and this will apply to all JSB pellets. Wonder if Air Arms will also switch as they come out of the same factory and any other brands such as FAP and Weihrauch although I think these are already. YAHOOOOOOO Phil
  16. Still don't understand why you went for a Mk2 when the Mk3 is now out. Phil
  17. Don't expect too much Phill as the one I used a few years ago was bloody useless, I hope this one is better. Phil
  18. Go on, thats it, rub it in..............................sh1t , sh1t , sh1t

  20. A very big mistake on my part Mitch.........................................BIG MISTAKE Phil
  21. I have a Vantage 3-9x44, AO but the reticle is just too thick, I bought it a few weeks ago to use on my new HW99 springer, cheap but it is not for me. My pal bought an Airmax 30 compact which he is having trouble with the fine reticle so I am buying his scope which has a reticle that I am very familiar with as I have the full size Airmax. I am pleased to see that Hawke have kept the side focus and IR so I am looking forward to getting it. If I like it (I will for sure ), I can see me selling my other Airmax and Vantage WA ( which is vastly superior to standard Vantage scopes ), replacing
  22. Nice one SD, I have heard how these SMK rifles can punch above their weight from a few people now and here is another example. Phil
  23. A nice start BN, is it me or are they small rabbits or is the squirrel a big bugger. He looks a whopper. Phil
  24. Nice one SD, as long as you made sure you know what you are shooting at ........................................ ? ?. For some reason I have run out of 'likes' at 8.20am just after I have switched on WTF. Phil
  25. Johnbaz on here is the man to talk to as he has a large collection of old air rifles.
