  1. We are in total agreement there Jimmy. ? Phil
  2. I am pleased to say that my local rfd has decided to dip his feet into stocking FX rifles with the first stock arrived last week, Crowns, Dreamline, Impact and Impact Short. I just kept looking at the Short as it looked strange but of course when you put it in the shoulder, it;s an Impact in every sense but shorter, quicker and lighter, However, the mod is useless producing a crack when fired although with no pellet and in the shop, it will be louder but in my opinion, a Swift Stumpy would be a much better option with a section or perhaps two removed. No scope on so couldnt take it in
  3. Without doubt the Air Arms Diablo Field Heavy is fantastic 18gr has reined supreme with everyone that I know who has tried them and very much the case in Rapid barrels. JSB make them but using different molds and groups were better with AA compared to JSB pellets. One specialist Rapid dealer put me onto them, I never looked back, so accurate. https://www.countrywaygunshop.co.uk/product/air-arms-diabolo-field-heavy-22-air-rifle-pellets/ Phil
  4. As some of you know Si has my HW99s for a tune and what time I have spent using the gun has given me great pleasure to the point that I would like a .22 now. In my mind I thought of another 99 but if these are worth a tune giving a decent result then perhaps one of these will be suitable. Phil
  5. Our Mitch better known as villaman will give you all the answers as he has done quite a bit of testing using various slugs bug we are all using FX guns which may differ from Rapid. Must admit I am in no rush to swtch to slugs at the moment as my .25 Impact is still on pellets and will stay that way until I reduce my stock. Have a look at 'Airgun101' as the guys on there have done loads of videos using slugs but mainly through FX guns as they have the latest technology which is a million miles away from Rapid. Rapid are sound as a pound and was my first fac rifle but FX are the market le
  6. I would agree regarding the use of a pistol for live quarry however, a couple of years ago on another forum several guys bought and used an SMK PP700w on rats but you will need an air supply and you would need to be close but I suspect you would not be keen on buying the pistol, scope and air tank just for a few rats. Buy a springer rifle. Phil
  7. A friend of my son in law has bought a springer rifle and would I zero it up for him. Well I picked up the gun, a Cometa .22 with a Simmons 4 x 32 scope. There was no effort whatsoever to cock the rifle but I was not able to check the power as my Combro would not fit due to the front sight so no bloody idea. A bit airy fairy in terms of accuracy but quite smooth to shoot although at 15mts in my garden groups were no better than an inch using some Exacts I had lying around. He bought the outfit for £110 ? to shoot pigeons that were causing him issues with his salad patch ?. I did the be
  8. Yes I know I give better head, but we are all northerners and therefore better than you buggers from the south...............................................................???
  9. I am 100% in agreement with Dave, an adjustable stock is the way to go Ben. All my clay guns and my wife's guns have adjustable stocks, she needs it and I simply like the fact that I can make tiny alterations IF needed. Once it is set, you will not really need to keep changing it's position but it is there if needed. Doveridge do a lot of comb risers, my wifes friend had her Beretta done, superb job, about £250 if I remember correctly. With a much lighter frame that you have Ben, I think it would be a massive benefit. One other thing, if you find recoil a bit high, look at Recoil S
  10. Interesting SD, nice macro photo there sir. Phil
  11. I just used one of my own ................................................? Phil
  12. I have to say I have never had an issue with the mags on my Impact and far better mag loading than with the Mk1 and 2 cat, at least they have never jumped out into the friggin mud while ratting in winter. Can't think why the new model will be an issue Phill, FX have this technology well wrapped under their belts mate as they have a whealth of experience under their belt. We are all different and if you like what you have bought, I am really pleased for you Phill. Despite me not with you on your choice, I must say they are a fantastic handling little gun and if my pension suddenly had a bo
  13. Sorry Phill but I think you made a big mistake there but if you are happy, thats all that matters. Phil
  14. They did the same with my impact but as Si says, i put in hair curler and felt wrapped around the curler which made it quieter. I would still have bought a Mk3 however, hope you got a seriously low price. Phil
  15. I use 25.4 whether they are there or not ?
  16. Pity they are not available in .25 because I still use big bertha for ratting as I no longer have a sub 12 pcp Phil
  17. I like both the proposed new truck but also the veedubya, I am a veedubya fan Stav and fancied the Tiguan mind you I LOVE the new larger Tiguan, really nice. GET IT BOUGHT STAV. Phil
  18. What is the size of those targets DB Phil
  19. Its an itch that needs scratching perhaps SD ? Phil
  20. I can sell some rabbits to a butcher for £1, gutted and skinned but to be honest I cannot be arsed, I prefer to leave them as fox bait. Phil
  21. Generally we are getting quite a few numbers building up now after mixi last year but I don't have anyone who eats them so we shoot to keep numbers down and fox bait, shame really but none of my family or my shooting partners family like rabbit ? Phil
  22. Very nice result there FH, .22lr or .17 ruger Phil
  23. I tend to agree, the shotty is a better bet there if the horses are not going to take off into the next county. Phil
  24. When setting zero with a springer, you must allow the rifle to slide back in your hands not to hold it totally rigid. Had you bought a pcp rifle, it is easier to zero because you can in effect lock it down and shoot. The springer is a different animal altogether and those who can be very accurate with them have my respect so be warned, you will be frustrated at times but as you get better you will have a certain satisfaction, trust me on this. If you can, go along to a range to seek hands on assistance in terms of gun handling and technique. One other thing is that you need to find what
