I do not know how anyone could do that to a gun that doesn't belong to them. I hope you gave him a mouth full. Phil

Oh yes the bugger do indeed. We have got very low on wheat this year as we are getting loads of pheasants now feeding daily and we are not shooting them this year and when the squirrel feeder run out of peanut mix, they are on the pheasant feeders scoffing the wheat. Phil

My buddy and I have just got a new rat perm at a stables which have some rather expensive horses. We went down the other day but only managed 3 as we had no real idea as to where they were most active so as with these things, it can take some time to learn the perm BUT we went down to a pond on the land where we were told that rabbits were causing damage to the ground and at the side of the pond there were loads of carp scales. Checking the area we found a very well used track around the pond so we are going to set up the trail cameras to see what the culprit is, I suspect it is a mink but po

I would not bother with the cost of that conversion because you are NOT going to silence a springer, I fitted one to a TX200 but it really makes little or no difference as you cannot remove the spring slap. Phil

Might be tricky to put a pellet trap in the shed roof space Tom ? Phil

One thing Felix said was that he wanted a gun with the capability to reduce power output so none of the rifles put forward with do that and to be honest if you are shooting inside buildings, a springer is too noisey. There are rifles with a power adjustment but not cheap, FX guns have this ability on most models as do some of the Brocock rifles but the company that owns them are......................let us just say, not good to deal with. I am sure there are others just can't think of them but it is worth saying that most of us would not bother turning down power levels using a standard sub 12

I think its fair Mitch because the scope works fine.

Just been sorting a few bits and pieces out in my store cupboard, always amazes me what shooting and fishing stuff I find in there....................anyway, I have a 3-12 x 40 Mamba Lite sat doing nothing, it has one turret cover missing and a slight bloom on the front lens which I cannot remove although I do know it can be cleaned off by taking the lens out but I am not doing that as it doesn't seem to make any difference to performance and rather than put it as an advert yet, I thought I would ask you guys what you think I should ask for it. I know I could get about £120 - 135 but as it h

Well it has given you something to do Bernard and by the sounds of it, you are getting there. Its funny (or not) how the Hatsan guns can be spot on or total rubbish and we know which one you got. They produce thousands of their Escort semi auto shotguns and very few give issues but I was told they dont make all the air rifles but who knows. Phil

Nooooooooooooooooooo got to pay for the Bentley one way or another and as prostitution didn't work......................yes madam, I am on my way ? Phil

A bit late on this but nevertheless Bernard, well done mate very pleased for you getting the new job. It must be very tough for lots of people due to covid forcing firms to close, there are times when being retired is an advantage although I miss the salary. Phil

410 TDR, if you like them, great but I was going to buy one, just didn't feel right but we all like different things. Very good point Mark, the only time I get through loads of shots is when ratting. Phil

I bought a Brocock Contour which I think is the same as the one above and I agree Mark, really sweet but soon runs out of steam more is the pity. Phil

You do whatever you like, in this part of the UK, this system works well and as calls are logged with the 'Control room' for the region, the 'plod' as you refer to is advised from the outset that we are out shooting and at a specific location simply means a quick phone call from the police to the shooter will eliminate needless action. Perhaps you don't really know how it works so not used it therefore you would be better off trying it out instead of dishing out your usual diatribe. Phil

I know it is a very difficult decision for many people but I believe it is needed so with the statement made by Boris tonight, we go back into full lockdown. Not sure as to how far reaching this will be just yet but I am sure both shooting and fishing will be affected although like before, I assume vermin control will still be allowed to go ahead. I would expect BASC to make a statement in the next few days and every houshold will be getting a letter from the government outlining the rules that now apply. Stay safe guys Phil

Two that spring to mind are both around 2.5kg without scope are the FX Wildcat and Weihrauch HW110k. Both are spot on in terms of accuracy and superb for hunting in either .177 and .22. I have had both guns in both calibres and must say that the balance and feel, the Wildcat wins but a VERY small margin, the HW110k has a better stock in terms of the bulk of the weight is set to the rear keeping the gun firmly on point of aim. I know some will disagree but I didn't like the 8 shot magazine in the Wildcat and actually had them spit out of the gun whilst cocking................................re

I also found the police to be both friendly and they appreciated the call. Just as an interesting point, a couple of weeks ago my pal had logged the call with the police when he was pulled over by an armed police team, nothing to do with him but had he not logged the evenings shooting with the police, it could have been tricky as there was something serious going on. The two 110k guns I have had, .22 used JSB Exact RS and the one I have now is a .177 using JSB Exact. These pellets work very well and on the .177 JSB Express work well but I like the Exact so staying there for now. As Mitch said, you need to clean the barrel as you don't know what has been going through the gun before you got it then adding the stuff you are using, far better off cleaning it and starting a fresh. Just over the river, in Scunthorpe, Crawfords Shooting Supplies will clean the gun for you if you do not want to do it and they have a 25mt indoor range which you could then

We always pop over to the sea wall on Xmas Eve from when my girls were small to look for santa on his way round, in truth we always managed to see something in the sky which to a child was strong enough imagination to believe 'it was him', so we carry on the tradition. Today, is not going to be a wonderful day for everyone but I hope that all of you manage to get a little joy on the big day, merry Christmas to you all and take good care of yourselves. Phil

You are so right Mitch. ''but it will never go away'.....................No it will not Jimmy and nor should it mate but the Nat's children will help fill that space as time goes by. Phil
-
I am just so pleased that you have decided to leave things alone for now Jimmy and as I have said, you need time and rest my old friend then perhaps, just perhaps just may feel a little bit better to the point that you may enjoy and walk out with the gun. There are a number of people who will be pleased to take you out including me but I suspect that Si has more rabbits available than me. When this rather nasty virus has been beaten, even though it is going to take quite some time yet but when that day comes, we can get together for some clay busting Jimmy and raise a glass to Nat even
