  1. Yes I did have for a very short while the MTC Vioer Connect. Not great in my opinion, an expensive mount is needed if not included with the scope, mine was not. Very close eye relief which I found uncomfortable but a big issue with white out. To be honest not as good as I expected and if you are going to use an add on nv, they are rubbish and in fact are listed by MTC as not suitable with nv. Buy the Hawke every day of the weeek. Phil
  2. Good vid, I enjoyed that. Off to clear ferals tonight if all goes to plan. Phil
  3. I am not into hunting but regard it as a long standing country activity which should be kept BUT as said the hunt brings on it's own trouble because of the total disregard for other peoples land, borders, fences and various live stocks which have pissed off quite a few farmers near me. I am not making a sweeping statement as it doesn't apply to all hunts but the members of hunts need to learn manners and the meaning of private property. Phil
  4. I really do think that Compak does take a different approach to that of Sporting even though in essence they are the same type of bird. Some people don't concentrate for the entire sporting stand once they have found the target, they relax a little and the is lost whereas the Compak layout demands your full attention because you need to think how to tackle the ever changing pairs of birds and taking this to the international version, FITASC, you have to work hard to be effective on these targets.............believe me. One of the easiest clay targets is down the line or better known as
  5. Just posted on your other thread regarding a scope that is well suited to the 110. Phil
  6. Just remember that some people call them picatiny and others call them weaver, both fit as they are the same thing. Depending on your budget, take a serious look at the Hawke Airmax 30 Compact s/f scope as they are really good, small and lighter than full size scopes. I have a 3-12x40 on my 110k which is superb, totally recommend them, in fact I am toying with the idea of selling my Airmax s/f that sits on my FX Impact and getting another to go on that. Phil
  7. Well you certainly fitter than I am but nevertheless I have just lost 1.5 st and feeling pretty good, another 1.5st would be bloody perfect ................................. just like the rest of me.
  8. I am but a weak older gentleman Mitch as well you know ?
  9. Depends if you prefer a heavier gun such a the 100, I had the 100kt but in all honesty I just wanted a lighter gun but we are all different.
  10. Sorry I cannot help you other than to say it is doubtful that even if you pay quite a bit more, it will still be made in China. One thing to look at is on ebay see what else the seller is actually selling because many of them sell whatever the wholesale warehouse has with no knowledge whatsoever of the product so NO backup. Look at optics warehouse to see what they have. Phil
  11. Both will do the job perfectly well, my own preference is .177 but it depends what the grey matter is telling you, some people believe that the .22 has more weight therefore a better killing power, on the other hand the .177 has a better trajectory due to being lighter !!!!! Buy whichever you like but most people who have .177 would not switch to .22 Phil
  12. 110 every day of the week.......................... Better mod (it actually works unlike the R10), far far better cocking lever, Side lever instead of that bloody awful rear bolt, faster handling and if you go for the 110k it is even faster, better mags, the black stock has a lovely feel soooooooo don't waste your money buying a crappy R10, treat yourself to a cracker.........................110 or 110k. Did I say I like the 110 range............................I am on my second 110k both .177 and .22 and cannot fault them. Phil
  13. The meteor is a standard barrel with no carbine option and a shorter barrel would make cocking much harder for a youngster. If I were you, I would buy a Weihrauch HW30 every day of the week, a vastly superior gun. Phil
  14. That looks spot on and one that he can grow with. You now of course will not be able to go for a quiet hour shooting as there will be a little follower behind you so enjoy it. Phil
  15. Ah ha...........someone else knows how good these are. I have had one from new and would not part with it in fact I have been toying with buying another as I know where there is one but at nearly £300, not cheap and even though I love mine, it does make me wonder whether I should sell it and put the money towards another zziplex rod. Phil
  16. Nothing wrong with the old pellets Mitch. I am curious though, why you are switching back to pellets even though I know those 18gr are fantastic in fac . Phil
  17. As some of you may remember, I was keen on a .223 before the awful covid19 started but I let the idea drop when I really thought about it. I confess that the .22 hornet has appeal but I am just avoiding centrefire round costs to be perfectly honest an of course I could reload but have no kit so I would need to start with an outlay on kit and supplies. I suppose it is the cost versus spare cash from the pension which at the moment is why I stick with my .22lr and wmr, being totally honest, these take care of 90% of my needs but without doubt if I had a nice little windfall, a .22 hornet would
  18. Just found them Jimmy, a great memory for all of you. Phil
  19. Trish and I never met Natalie as you know but we feel that we know her through our conversations and texts from you Jimmy and have felt the pain you have been going through for quite some time. Our sincere condolences my old friend, try to be grateful that her pain has now stopped Jimmy. The family will once again be relying on you to be strong for them so please look after yourself mate, our thoughts are with you. Love and best wishes Phil and Trish
  20. We have just had three trail cameras out on one of our perms which is a quarry comprising of a wooded area and meadow area. I have copied some of the camera shots both day and night because it is quite interesting who comes to visit at night time although as we had over 3000 photos, I couldn't be arsed to search through them all to show the foxes, rats, buzzard, crows etc etc but here we go. You will notice how high the feeders are off the floor but you will see why as well, its funny how the squirrels have taken to using the ladders to reach the feeder platforms, made me giggle anyway.
  21. I am confused which is not unusual here boys but tell me SD, are you Bernard or Nathan as I have been under the impression that our SD was / is Bernard. My head hurts Phil
  22. I went in there today for some beach leads and strangely enough I have thought of getting some floats for the salty stuff for a bit of fun instead of fishing on the bottom or as well as. Low and behold, I saw the poly balls and did consider your idea but then I had a few lazy thoughts and bought some ready made. I have enough with four rod rebuilds at the moment. Phil
  23. Having been to a couple of giant fishing / shooting stores in the US, they can get anything they want with a far better range of rods and reels than we could ever get but most of the freshwater fishing in US is lure fishing from boat, kayak or shore and are years ahead of us here. God knows where this rod n reel comes from but it is what we in the UK call utter shit, throw them in the nearest trash bin and buy some of the really nice gear that is available. Phil
  24. I got an email from BASC yesterday to say that this is now upon us, the details of which are here. https://basc.org.uk/avian-influenza/?utm_source=BASC+Email+Newsletter&utm_campaign=df43d056fa-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_09_25_10_14_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_14fa71dd8e-df43d056fa-243372 We have now stopped all shooting on our chicken perm and keeping our distance. Some recommendations for reared birds are listed in the email which may be of interest and a map showing the areas worst sffected. Phil
