Sorry to say I bought one and I am pleased that the rfd is a mate because when it arrived I thought it was bloody awful, in fact all the things you think about the Crown, I thought about the Ultimate Sporter, to say I was hacked off is an understatement as I was so looking forward to getting this gun but it came home with me for one night and went back the next day, the laminate version which I had felt like a lump of concrete, so pleased he is my mate and someone else bought it and was no doubt delighted but that is the whole point, one mans pleasure is another mans poison. Phil

A bit strange as the Crown in standard black synthetic stock is 2.8kg whereas the AA 510 Ultimate Sporter in laminate is 3.4kg, not sure about your green stock though. I have only played around in the rfd's range but the crown to me is very light in my hands and a joy to use. Not quite sure where the noise level issue comes from because in sub 12 the Crown is mouse fart quiet BUT anyway if its not your thing, then is isn't. I must admit that as an FX fan, I would not want a sub 12 Crown but in fac .22 oh yes, it would be very nice with my Impact fac .25 although I am not a majot fan of longer

Some years ago I bought a couple of high pitched buzzers to keep the mozzies away while evening fishing, which they did but the bonus was my kids suddenly stayed well clear of me because all they could hear was this high pitched buzzing, winner winner Christmas dinner. Must look where I put them to get ready for the grand kids coming round ? Phil

Oh my lord now I do feel the old tart of the group...........................70 next !!!!!!!!!!! Phil

Well of course its down to how you feel about it, I do understand where you are coming from with that and one very badly worn wood, there have been movement that I have read about although a rare thing, it could possibly happen. I know we are all different but for me the one piece stock just feels awful particulrly the pistol grip. Not 100% sure on this but I thought the Mk2 was also a two piece stock so perhaps worth checking that the one piece stock started with the Mk2 or Mk3. Phil
-
You can fit a sling easily, you need a standard sling stud to go in the underside of the stock and you can get a track fit stud to slot in the there. I cannot remember where I saw them but I wanted a hamster instead but you can get one if you have a good look around. A hamster is worth thinking about for free hand shooting, makes a world of difference. Barrel band and hamster from Rowan Engineering. Welcome aboard LR As already said the Ultra is a little cracker BUT the only trouble is the very low shot count so you will be pumping every 25 shots or so and when kids are involved, they just want to shoot and shoot and shoot sooooooooooo if you buy an Ultra, buy an air tank or have a rupture ? OR get a Scorpion which is like the Ultra but has a much higher shot count. I was fitting one of my spare scopes on a friend's Gamo Phox this morning. A much heavier gun than an Ultra so a rest will be needed for your daughter and perhaps you also. You will have a much larger shot count, abo

Can't help you BUT I had a 200T with a Mk1 two piece stock and loved it to bits, I used it for bell target shooting but sold it when I was unable to get to the meets, however I will have another. I honestly think the Mk3 one piece is so naff, it feels numb with no character whatsoever........................don't swap it, just love it as it is. Phil

I did look at the Lee Loadall but they don't it in 28g and £300 for a MEC junior

Best between cz457 and browning t bolt
philpot replied to Fellman Mark's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The CZ rifles have gone up and up in price, decent enough but nothing special and now imported by The Sportsman Group, I would not want to deal with them. My pal had two Browning T-Bolts .22lr and .17 hmr but in all honesty they both had issues with the bolt and ejecting spent hulls but I just didn't like the feel of them in the shoulder. I bought a Tikka Tx1 and am very happy with that, very very slick bolt almost as quick as the Browning in my opinion and I also bought the steeper pistol grip to change from the standard along with a extra beever tail forend which really makes a big differe -
I have to say that some guns just give me huge pleasure, my Impact fac and H110k sub 12 are a case in point. There are some which I think are worth the money but not all, the Weihrauch bullpup effort and the BSA bullpup crap are two good examples of gross over priced but average or in the BSA case well below average. Phil

DB, how the hell could you spoil the day by posting that idiot's photo. ? Phil
-
Yes shark, bloody awful with most of the dealers near me will not deal with gaystate, similar to the Sportsman gun shops, utter garbage.

My WMR is a varmint barrel and for off hand shooting I find it cumbersome even worse with NV add on. My Tikka .22lr is a pleasure to shoot with the sporting barrel and seriously wished I had waited until they were available so it is time to say goodbye to the WMR. Phil

Why the varmint barrel Ben as they are heavy. Phil

Oh no no no no no no..............................................little stunner

I must say I really like my trigger sticks and one of the best buys I have made thanks to Marky putting me onto them and they have had a hell of a lot of use but one leg is just starting to stick a little and these do look very stable although not as quick to move onto a target, the Primos wins that every time. I will have a look for a pair to try, I have a feeling my rfd has them so a mental note to myself to take a look next time I am in. I am pleased they work for you Jimmy but surprised you are not getting the new gun mate. Phil

Yes I had a session with one in 2019 but as much as I wanted to like it, I just didn't. It shot well enough but very bulky in the hand and there was a strange cocking system if I remember but beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if you like it, get it, one thing for sure it will be much better than the arse of a bullpup that BSA brought out. A few days ago my shooting buddy said he was having problems with an MTC scope on one of his guns to the point that he wanted it gone so that will sit on one of his son's guns. Well after a chat I suggested he tried out my rifles and fell in love with my Airmax s/f and as he has a spare Airmax 30 Compact s/f that he doesn't like, we did a swap. I have a Compact on my HW110k and love it so very happy to replace one Airmax for a smaller one to sit on the Impact. To be honest it feels much nicer on the gun, the original Airmax was a big lump, superb but a big lump so I am happy with the swap an

I bought a couple of boxes of Eley VIP 28g just before Xmas at £8 per box and whilst they are lovely cartridges, this is going to get very expensive. I am hoping my pal does decide to take this route so reloading will be a shared cost and not whalop my pension too much. For the time being, I am going to keep buying a few boxes each time I go in the shop building up a stock and also used hulls for loading later. The VIPs are a 6 star crimp which I must admit I really like and thought they would make for better reloading than rolled turnover, actually just thinking about it, I need to look if th
