  2. 3/8 5/8. A lot of people around here see this dog in his game .....
  3. Lurchers I've been in your stepson situation as a young man thing is we ain't all the same some are able to keep cool in a situation and some of us lose our head. Don't be too hard on the lad teach to be clever and not to act on anger.its a sickening feeling I know but it's the stupid laws in this country not the lads fault.
  4. Them led lamps are good whenever anybody first tries them there over the moon they sell the lithiums n halogen lamps. Then after a season or 2 they go back out with a halogen lamp and soon find they've been struggling with the LEDs. This is what happened to me n a few others LEDs burn out after a while they struggle to pick things up on plough or stubbles. There good for hopping a fence when there new but they don't last long. Only thing I will say is those batteries in these handhelds are awesome.
  5. Now that in my mind is what these coursing Bulls should look like fella I know got a bitch similar shape to that strong enough for owt you'll bump into
  6. You ever wanna test a dog properly out of a motor is the best way couple of stingers one after the other and you know what your feeding. There's places here you could jack a good dog if you slipped on everything you see. Only people I know that don't like driving the land is farmers and rabbit Lampers. There's a few on here that I go out with and they know when I say we're out in the jeep there dogs gotta be fit n ready can do these sort of numbers in an hour or 2

    Wolves

Good wee watch that allways found it interesting that wolves have a natural hatred for fox remember seeing a vid years ago of them chasing them down and killing them if I remember rightly it was in the snow and they didn't even eat the fox.
  11. I've payed good money for pups and been gifted pups but if they are gifted I allways try to give a gift back bit of dog grub a good knife if the lads got children a couple of quid each for them maybe. It goes along way with good genuine people ??
  12. Rez them cuts are just from the heavy bramble that dog was the best lurcher I've seen out with a gun would retrieve from anywhere I've got a vid of him somewhere breaking ice on a lake to get to a shot goose bobbing far out. All them game birds were shot to order nothing was wasted. Cheers for replies lads was too easy sometimes with that gun but passed the time on those long summer days. I used to fill it up after every use but I understand they still lose air over time ? Also what sort of money is a fair price to be paying for gun n bsa pump ? Cheers
  13. . One of the biggest causes in my opinion is frecking badgers, I wander far and wide on my travels and the one thing that is clear to me is the more badgers on the land the less hares, I,ve also seen the growth of badger populations decimate areas once rich in hares, leverets are just eaten before they have a chance to stand up, a lot of these shoots though not legal and never talked about still gas badger sets and that's why they are running alive with hares, simples I fail to equate the Badger population with the amount of hares the land holds, some of the most productive coursing land i kn
  14. Me dads had a few greyhounds one or 2 caught him abit and were ok but his best were allways brought up/on with a lurcher kill fox and roe for fun and could make a hare fear for his life on the smallish fields around where we lived never had or seen one on rabbits so can't comment there I think there ok sometimes and are underrated In the lurcher game for sure
  15. For a short while a few years ago I managed to get my hands on a webley venom viper after years of messing with airsporters a Diana n dozens of cheap break barrels. Just thought I'd share a couple of pics from those outings summer m/early autaunn I'll be honest I have the chance of buying the viper back but I would like to have a pressure gauge on the air cylinder as one thing that used to irritate me was getting it out and not knowing if it was fully charged or not. Anyone know if I can get this done ?
  16. If there was many rabbits down here to make it worthwhile doing abit of ferreting I would be on my way to pick that brindle pup she is a cracker ?? hope they get good homes
  17. done it several times, right place and it's easy yeah it's easy at night, got to be daytime though and the hare given fair law, Done it several times day n night allways wanted to get a muntjac roe and fallow been very close to doing it aswell getting 2 out of 3 in the bag but never quite managing it.
  18. i reckon that's had a run in with an upset munty Buck.
  19. As I said my mate killed his dog running next to the motor and Tilly continuously runs in front of the truck she is a fukcing nightmare for it .... the frame is made so it's far away from the back of the truck and the lead is also made of elastic so loads of give for stopping and starting ... they get worked every day ... they get plenty of free running ... they get out with my horse around three times a week and this is just another aid that I will utilise to get them to peak fitness ...Socks I may be wrong as I'm no rabbit man i just shoot and retrieve a few things but when when bringing an
  20. Be careful who he goes to Kev lovely wee dog be just the ticket for someone ?? best of luck with finding him a good working home
  21. i personally would never have my dogs under any restraint when jogging them apart from a lead bieng held by someone. If you work your dogs from a motor often enough they Know to keep a safe distance my young dog used to be bad for racing the jeep but has settled down nicely. I find the safest way to jog a dog is on a bike on a canal path. There aslong as you like plenty of fresh water for dogs to have a swim or drink no cars or cats to worry about plus there's allways the chance of a wee run o something to break it up abit ??
  22. Cracking article and well put fair play ??
  23. I agree katchum still some real good dog men about be nice to hear there stories I don't buy cmw me old man does I think just to have a nosey in for sale section. There's still mad keen lads out there doing abit it's important to get there stories on pen and paper aswell as some of the older lads let's face it this ban is here to stay but if you got the lurcher bug you find excuses to keep going not to stop. I know one or 2 lads that might put pen to paper but they wouldn't for cmw type mags I think a subscription type would be the way to go ...
