  10. totally agree with you, quality is a big factor as well wether it's nylon or poly, I got something called crossbraid nylon off netrigger on here and I think they are better than anything.
  11. I've seen a documentary when monks were doing it. They slash the corpses to give the vultures a head start , then once a lot of the flesh has been eaten , they smash the bones , so that the vultures can swallow the pieces. It's sort of horrific , but natural . To be honest , I think I'd prefer it to burial or cremation.
  12. Today
  13. This weather needs to make its mind up, we got there and it was 20 degrees and sunny, by the time we got over the far side of the shoot the temperature had dropped and it started pissing down, my birds are starting to wander now so luckily I had Mrs Stav with me to push them back towards the pens
  14. Ffs I nearly put a post up and tagged you , but thought you’d know already and thought who else would be interested… wish I had now … It's the UK's largest bird of prey – and it's come to Somerset WWW.BBC.CO.UK The rare sighting of the bird of prey in the West of England attracts crowds of birdwatchers.
  15. i use nylon long nets, but i wouldn't go back to nylon purse nets, especially not the crap they sold in the gun shops , I've used 10oz and they wasn't bad but they just not as good as the spun poly ones ,we all like different things ,long as it works for you that's what matters.
  16. First I’ve heard about it mate ironically I was down that way last week osprey seems to becoming a more regular visitor to the lake in the village near me also a few harriers on the foreshore
  17. I swear they just make it up, my missus drive a 56k car and it was 90 quid a year cheaper to park it on the driveway than telling them it was kept in the garage, it was the woman at admiral that told her that, I’ve no idea why it’s more expensive when it’s locked away
  18. loved outside cooking...i used a well fired flowerpot...i had several dotted around the countryside...........be careful using galvanised buckets etc ...when used they will give off cyanide gas.....that stuff is a welders nightmare....alright when it is well burnt off........
  19. I think mackem, off here, has written about those sky burials etc. Can't remember the thread, though?
  20. Off topic but weren’t you tempted to go and see the white tailed sea eagle down chew earlier this week ? Without transport at the moment and having been off work last week with a chest infection made my choice for me lol.
  21. That’s interesting…. We’ve got them in town about a mile away as the crow flies , don’t know how many homing pigeons come through bath daily ..but How many pigeons would a peregrine get through in a month ? . Because if that’s all that’s left of a ringed one , there’s no way of knowing how many ferals it’s caught in that time ( if you get my drift) , so yo7 could be holding half the diet , or a quarter of it ….
