Suicide Question ......

Recommended Posts

Whenever there's a thread up about suicide there are always differing views but here's a question for you lads ... if you were out in the woods with dogs or whatever and you came across a guy swinging from a rope or in a car with exhaust fumes filling it would you rush to cut him down or smash the window in the hope of saving him ......

Now remember your initial answer and think about the fact that if somebody wanted to die do we really have any right to stop them ... who are we to decide if somebody wants to end their life or do you think that morraly you should try and save them ... ignore the law side of things and think of the two scenarios morally ...

So Does your initial thought change after you've thought about it or would you do the same thing in both scenarios ........

I think natural instinct would be to save them regardless, if you have to think about it then your probably just as f****d up as them.Hopefully it's not something I will encounter.Unless their terminally ill are they in the right frame of mind to make a decision?

I found a young polish girl hanging a few yrs back while walking my dogs...she had already expired so I rang the police and waited to give a statement.apparently she had tried before a few times.my personal thoughts are it's a selfish thing to do but...some folks go to very dark places with mental health issues, I'm just glad I didn't have any of my kids with me.atb dc

I'd probably try to save them,if life really is that bad they'll do it anyway some other time.

But you wouldn't want the doubt in your mind afterwards, maybe they just wanted attention and went too far, maybe there was drugs involved which swayed their decision, maybe they went through something very traumatic and have just had a complete breakdown etc.

Too late to judge for yourself when they're dead.

Save them if i could. I wouldn't even entertain the thought of why they were doing it,

In fact a lad did the exact same thing you decribed a month ago in this village.

Left a young wife and son. Guy walking his dog found him.

Its not something id want to be confronted with.

I'd try to save them. I think it would be a natural reaction. I used to think suicide was a really selfish thing to do, but now I believe how "we" think has nothing to do with the dark place these people are in and doesn't compare.

If I saw someone trying to kill themselves I'd do my best to save them. Saying that, I think people should be allowed to end their lives if they really want to. I suppose comes down to what happens when you die. Is it really the end - nothingness. Then what was the point of life? Or will there be something after we die, maybe another type of existence? The only way we'll find out is when we're dead. For me it is more comfortable to believe death isn't the complete end as it's scares me to think there will be nothing else once we're gone, not even our memories.

At that moment in their life they feel like its their only option, saving them could/should open up other options.

A little piece of shit i know from years ago tried to do himself in coz he got caught for raping a child, im glad he never succeeded & hope that justice catches up with him once he is out.

Just been a group of kids in the states average age 12-14 years old filmed a mentally ill guy committing suicide, all laughing at him, still giggling as he slips beneath the surface for the last time, plod said they cant bring a prosecution against any of the group as they broke no laws, what sort of homes produce kids like that.
