  1. What you need is a good whippet mate. A whippet would of caught that rabbit with ease lol
  2. Hi guys this will be my first winter with ferrets and I was wondering if any of you guys move your ferret cage into the shed or garage etc when the weather gets really cold? with the weather turning I have already made sure that they constantly have a full nest of hay but I wasn’t sure what to do when it gets mega cold BBB
  3. Feeding a dog horse meat? Ive heard it all now
  4. Id move house personaly but if not - Im going to repeat what Welsh_red said here but you need an Aco drain that is ideally drained into the closest manhole. Shouldnt be a big job mate
  5. Cannot beat a slow cooked hare casserole or a pie, as good or better than roe venison to meI have only eaten Hare once (basically the first one that my whippet retrieved one day). It was possibly the worse tasting meat that Ive ever had. I usually cook it and feed it to my dogs, put some veg with it and it makes 4 very big meals so lasts me 2 days with my 2 dogs
  6. At 22 weeks you can break them to anything mate. Just introduced my best mates Lurcher to my ferrets at 12 months old - no problem at all.
  7. Taking a hare with a net is harder than you think ..I'd say a hare has more chance of escape from gate netting/long netting than it does with a lurcher and a lamp Fair enough.
  8. Thanks for the advice guys! My Mrs got me a trap from the vets and I caught the little bugger. He was feeling all sorry for himself when I picked him up the poor lad
  9. Hi guys Unfortunately I managed to leave the gate to my ferret cage open last night and both of my kits got out. One of them was still in the garden and I managed to get her but the hob is still missing. I live in a village so its not full of roads and stuff and I have checked my neighbours gardens however, still not found him! Can anyone give me any advise please? Thanks in advance
  10. As I type this my lad is lay on his bed an his mate in the camp bed an he got his pup up beside him while they play fifa haha Nowt wrong with a games console as long as it is in moderation Pal
  11. Id prefer to give and quarry a decent sporting chance personally. Longnetting a poor Hare sounds a bit like shooting fish in a barrel to me if Im honest!
  12. Agree with this!! If you like Bedlington types then I would suggest a Beddlingtin Greyhound. Northernlight knows a lot about this cross and can usually help you obtaining a pup! BBB So are you both saying a whippet is no good for lamping. No not at all. I have a pure whippet myself and I really rate him (day and night on rabbits and daytime long ears). The reason I said Beddy Grey is in case he wanted the dog to retrieve anything a bit bigger than rabbits and long ears

  14. Hi guys, My ferrets have all of a sudden started to sh!t all over their cage (pretty much in every corner on the two levels). They always used to sh!t in one corner until last week when I was ill and my wife had to look after them. She just fed them.. Didnt let them into the run and didnt clean them out. I think that this is why they have shit everywhere (either out of boredom, frustration, or even a dirty protest). Does this sound logical and has anyone had any experience of this and how can I get them back to sh!tting in the one place again? Thanks BBB
  15. After all of that write up you forgot to mention that your dog can walk on the ceiling! Well done pal - sounds like a really good night out
  16. Great write up. I enjoyed reading that! Sounds like the pup is doing well.
  17. You can have some of the rain from from westcounrty enough down here to share Same here - Staffordshire/Cheshire is well watered now
  18. Broken wrist at 7 months is life? Really?? My pup broke his femur at 19weeks old and was back up to full strength 6 weeks later, sprinting around and rough playing with the other dogs! He's a ped whippet and I've got a few mates who also have ped whippets and my dog is clearly the fastest and most agile & catches more than all of the others put together! Despite him breaking the biggest bone in his body at 19 weeks I know that he was a young puppy at the time and pups recover remarkably quick but I sill think that we are way to quick to just write running dogs off after an injury.
