  1. Is that mounted on your office wall?

    Rip Lionel

The Radio 4 show 'I'm sorry I Haven't a Clue' used to regularly take the pi$$ out of Lionel and 'Give Us a Clue'. One show had Barry Cryer saying "Who can forget the look of delight when Lionel Blair leant over the Chairman's table to receive "A Man Called Horse"? ?

    He's given his last clue.
  4. Loads of charging points here. Every village has at least two. There aren't any electric cars though. Never seen a charging point being used. ?
  5. They are too stupid to move closer to the well so have to send their kids on a 30 mile round trip to fetch a bucket of water. I've seen it on TV. So I wouldn't trust them with a windmill let alone a nuclear reactor.
  6. Dear Mr. Robson, I do not actually have to do anything. Not having a TV licence is not an offence. If you have any evidence that I am viewing, recording or downloading from the BBC then I suggest that you present this evidence to a Magistrate and obtain a warrant to search my property. If you do not have a warrant then do not bother to call as I find that your manner is threatening and this causes me distress. If you continue this manner of harassment then I will make a report to the police under the Protection From Harassment legislation. Yours, etc........
  7. Last year I did a routine visit on one of my mole trapping jobs. The house had been rented out to British holidaymakers who complained of wasps getting into a small bedroom and leaving debris on the bed which was under a Velox window. I had a look and then rooted around the basement for something useful. Armed with some ant powder I went back to the room and told the guy who had reported it to go downstairs as I wanted to leave the bedroom door ajar in case of a quick exit. He wouldn't heed the advice and stood in the open doorway watching me. I carefully opened the Velux at which point half a
  8. I like the Jim Corbet books. He was never afraid of sharing his vulnerability. Its one thing being asked to come out and deal with a mole or mouse infestation. He got called out to deal with man eating tigers and leopards on his own. Hemmingway was an ambassador for the French fishing tackle company of Pezon et Michel. He and Charles Ritz of the hotelier company tested new rod designs when they weren't shooting pigeons released from towers in Monte Carlo. Hemmingway also drank with the Irish writer James Joyce. Legend has it that Joyce, who was small and argumentative would get into figh
  9. It is all about his very slim chances of getting re-elected in the spring. The French public hate him and his new side kick M. Bean, sorry I meant Beaune. All this French posturing is winding the rest of the EU up. All negotiations should be done by Brussells, not individual nations. Macron is going to have to wind his neck in pretty fast as it has been pointed out that the UK government could, if they wanted to, nationalise all the French assets in the utilities industries. As for his election chances; I wouldn't give toupee for them (see what I did there?) ?
  10. The trouble with this sort of subject is that it always ends up with the same argument: .177 or .22? ?
  11. The best chefs recommend that you squeeze the lemon with your but cheeks.
  12. I'm hoping for covid free Chrimbo so we can go down to Spain in the motorhome for a couple of weeks. I bought a 3 year Spanish rod licence two and a half years ago and only managed to use it once so far.
  13. I remember years ago when I was a kid a female petrol pump attendant walking round and round a new Consul Classic trying to find the filler cap and the new owner didn't know where it was either. It was behind the rear number plate that was hinged to fold down ?
  14. Don't flatter him Bill. We'll never hear the last of it.
  15. Don't get hung up on rod choice. I fish for barbel with anything from a 1lb tc 10 foot cane rod to a Travel Avon to a 12 foot 2lb tc carbon rod. The fish don't know or care what you are using.
  16. If you ard fishng the Yorkshire and Lancashire rivers then a 1.75lb tc and 4000 reel will be fine. They are snaggy so you need breakaway clips on the feeder or lead and a tough hook length. Look for the seams where slow water borders faster water, or deeper gullies. Barbel will be found in diifferent places to river carp. Outside of bends rather than the inside.
  17. Where and how are you intending to fish? There is a world of difference between hurling 6oz feeders to the middle of the Tidal Trent or Severn or fishing the little rivers using small PVA bags or catapults.
  18. You should have seen the stuff the posted on the youtube reviews. And all from someone who had never handled, let alone used a Putange. Quite some expert he is ?
  19. It is surprising how many of those dry, scraggy tunnels turn up trumps.
  20. You didn't buy anything off me. You bought two traps from my BIL four years after you had been slagging off Putanges on here and filling my youtube page with your negative ramblings. Then you claimed that the traps you had bought were faulty, but refused to return them. You wanted to keep the faulty traps and get a full refund. You threatened my BIL and left him negative feedback. They are the facts and there are emails to prove it, so why should we believe anything that you say?
  21. Same as you. I often find them weeks or months later when I go to set more traps, or sometimes I'll spot a few flecks of orange paint after the grass has been cut again.
  22. Here in France meat from proper butchers ain't cheap, but it is very good quality. The supermarket stuff is variable. Butchers are franchisees in supermarkets, so some are brilliant and others are poor. There are labels on the produce so you can see the race and sex of the meat. It is usually either Limousin bull or latier (milking breed) females. Cooked chickens are €15 each in the butchers and €3,50 in Lidl ?
  23. For fields with stock in them, golf courses, football pitches or posh gardens they can't be beaten. Problem comes when some contract gardener comes along with a side discharge mower and covers the paint markings with lawn clippings. ?
