  1. The Dusters are built on an X-Trail chassis and gear box. Problem is they are not built by Japs, but by Indians or Romanians.
  2. I just picked up a 2010 Honda CR-V Luxury Spec' in much the same condition for just a little bit more money. All the bells and whistles and a lot more comfortable than the old Berlingo. It is doing 40mpg and negotiated my 4x4 test course with ease, so no getting stuck on the river banks. I think the newer 1.6 models do over 50mpg.
  3. It suits me. Before I was blatting about all over the place, doubling back to jobs that over ran. Now I know where I am going each day and I'm always home for tea time ?
  4. It is all year round, but peaks from Feb through to June, sometimes to September. I'll get lots of enquiries from new customers with infestations from next month, but I decline them and just do my regular contracts three days a fortnight plus one catching up day.
  5. I never stop. I visit all my customers every fortnight and double back to any that have ongoing problems in the interim week. 3 days one week, 1 day the next and so on. This week I only had 2 calls to make so spent the rest of the day looking for new fishing places. The way I work means that the money always comes in whether there are moles to catch or not. I don't have to sweat over the phone ringing.
  6. Since WW2 the Yanks have always spent zillions on the military. It is the biggest source of employment, stimulates innovation in non-military technology and gives a lot of poor young people a paid job.
  7. I don't get any allowances for expenditure on the tax scheme I am on. I pay just under 24% on all income, and all income is declared, even the cash payers and those who pay through my English bank account. The trouble with doing jobs on the black is you don't know who the other parties are talking to.
  8. Sunak has some skeletons in the cupboard that could prevent him being PM. Privare Eye revealed that he and his wife have some very large business interests that he has not properly declared. I think Frost has his eyes on the top job and he is the person I would like to get it.
  9. It was prostitution in the first place. Now her lawyers are encouraging her to go for a second pay day based on the age of consent at the time and place it happened.
  10. Thanks ? Looks like they apply for a civil enforcement order like in matrimonial cases.
  11. I'm not sure if that's the case with POCA but it is with civil debts. You can't wipe a court order clean with a bit of porridge.
  12. When you look at the family history; Henry VIII, Richard III, there's no surprise they're breeding wrong 'uns. I think he'll end up on Franciie's imaginary island with Epstein, Maxwell the other Maxwell, Elvis, Lord Lucan and Shergar.
  13. The problem is, like what has happened with speeding fines, the police are putting more emphasis on generating money than serving the public's real needs.
  14. I wouldn't to anywhere that Richard Whiteley had been
  15. Since the POCA there has been a shift in priorities regards the police and other investigative agencies. Whover brings the prosecution gets a healthy cut of the POCA fines so they are specifically targetting enquiries with the liklihood of a healthy payday at the exclusion of other inquiries that might be more in the public interest but would cost too much to investigate and without any POCA kickback. Basically it stinks.
  16. Exactly. I bet we've all been to parties where we haven't known there was a party going on. Just a load of folks drinking, dancing and snoggjng.
  17. Yes. On that trap it has two thin springs with hooks that latch into the body of the trap. There is another type with a single more substantial bar that is a lot more secure. Edit I see your trap has two bars. No problem with that type.
  18. I'll check the dimensions of mine in the morning. They do several sizes, and two types of door closures. The mouse trap has bars wide enough for mice to get through ? One thing I do is secure the large door with wire. I had one trap where I could see evidence of a rat having pushed the door open enough to squeeze through. It left a bit of fur and grease behind.
  19. I can see now why you don't need a comb. You've either got a super sized rat or a smaller cage than I thought.
  20. Yes, it has been a mess. Boris like Churchill is a flawed character. When you have your back to the wall who is your best chance: Gove, May or Boris? For that I would give him a chance. After all Churchill was a mass murderer but he got us out of the mire in WW2. What does a drinks party matter unless you really want someone to blame? All this is being drIven by the press. The same press who have two conflicting opinions on their front online page. The same press that has been found guilty of lying and spying on the public over and over again. The same press who will destroy your life f
  21. My BIL made one out of a gas operated weed burner and an oil can with a length of windscreen washer pipe attached ?
  22. Yes, they are poor. I have four. Three were gifts from customers who had no luck with them. One is a counter balanced mouse trap. Small mice can get through the bars and bigger mice could pull the trapdoor open. The last bit was solved by adding weight to the mechanism. I suspect that older rats manage to get the trapdoor open on the larger spring operated traps, but I haven't yet seen that to confirm it. But the only time I caught ratus ratus in one was when I'd put a break back trap inside. The bait had been taken on three nights withot a capture so I put a Springer trap inside.
  23. I called at my friend's house on Thursday to check the mailbox while he is away. While there I spotted some new molehills so put a pair of stainless putanges out. Checked them today........ Middle of the garden and no obvious signs of the weasel digging into the tunnel system.
  24. Exactly the same design, but different trade name or manufacturer. Some have counter balanced trapdoors, others sprung ones. I would be interested in how you dispatch them?
