  1. No! As I said earlier; the idea is to have a buffer zone between Russia abd NATO. Some Russian satellite state that does as it is tol, buys its goods from Russia and doesn't want to join the EU or NATO. Just like the Iron Curtain countries were.
  2. No. Wilf said thathe was a Colonel in the KHB, not the KGB. Totally different organisation Home - KARNATAKA HOUSING BOARD KHB.KARNATAKA.GOV.IN khb
  3. There will be stuff like this all over the Internet. No proof of it being true, but millions will believe it anyway.
  4. This link could be the key to what Putin is really trying to achieve. This situation will cause a massive exodus from the middle east and Nth Africa. Putin has been exploiting the immigration sitution to weaken the west by bussing people into Belarus then ripping down the border fences with Poland. With warmer weather approaching and a famine created by his invasion of Ukraine the numbers of migrants will multiply way beyond what anyone else has predicted. 5. I had a long conversation with an ex-SBS guy. A friend of a friend. He had no agenda or planned book deal, but what he said would be taken as fiction by a lot of people. The thing is that other Special Forces who I worked with all had similar experiences. It can't all be made up. There is a lot going off in the background of world events that we are not aware of.
  6. The idea of the Iron Curtain was to use the smaller countries as a buffer zone between NATO states and the Russian Motherland. As I said a few days ago; there are no physical obstructions such as major rivers or mountain ranges between the West and Moscow.
  7. Turkey imports 50% of its wheat from those two countries. They are trying to become self sufficient, but they can't do it overnight and it will be far more expensive. Tunisia imports 80% of their wheat and cannot grow it themselves. It isn't just oil and gas that can be witheld to ransome.
  8. I read French, German and Arabic news reports. The BBC and British tabloids are away off the mark in many ways. For example; did you know that Russia and the Ukraine export wheat to many middle east and north African countries who are dependent on it? The embargo on Russian goods or Ukraine not being able to harvest the wheat will cause massive food shortages which will in turn fuel even more migration from those countries. There is a much bigger picture to this than Russia wanting to 'liberate' Ukraine.
  9. I think it has gone beyond Putin's redemption. My money is on the military removing him from power and installing military rule. And I don't think it will be long in coming.
  10. To claim that Russia is invading Ukraine for humanitarian reasons is like, Paul Pogba picking on Marcus Rashford because he's black.
  11. Any of these lads thinking about going over to Ukraine and volunteering ought to have had a word with my old neighbour Don. He'd been out in Nth Africa right from the start of WW2. He'd been there years eating, breathing and shitting sand so when they asked for volunteers for the Paras his name went down first on the list. He couldn't wait to get to Paras training school in Hereford where he'd again see green grass and rain. They sent him to a new training camp in Oman and from there he ended up sat in the back of a glider being towed out to some Greek island that needed liberating. First
  12. Al-Jazeera is now reporting that Ukraine has agreed to meet Russian officials for talks. They are trymng to agree on a venue. Meanwhile Belarus has stated that they will not be joining the Russians in attacking Ukraine.
  13. My own view is that governments are using every dirty trick they can think of to reduce the number of private cars onthe road. And mostly these measures hit the poorer people and those who can't rely on public transport.
  14. I ordered a thousand litres yesterday. We pay the delivery driver by cheque. It is just under a quid a litre now, €1.17. Vehicle diesel is 60 cents a litre more.
  15. Not only have European states cut their funding to NATO they have become dependent on Russian oil and gas. Merkel's legacy is coming home to roost.
  16. Following the trial of the terrorist bombers who assaulted a prison officer in Belmarsh prison the chief screw says: "Peter Clarke, former Chief Inspector of Prisons and the former senior counter terror officer, and a senior fellow at the think tank Policy Exchange, said the prison system has not adapted well to handling prisoners who are inspired by al-Qaeda and the Islamic State Group. "What needs to happen is that the people managing these prisoners need to be expert in the particular risks which these prisoners present," he told BBC News. "It's
  17. Those bite marks on the bin are on the inside. I posted a similar photo acouple of years back. The customer was in the habit of putting those square foil packs of cat food in the bin without washing them. Rat or rats entered the bin to get to the cat food and got shut in. They made a right mess of the bin in their escape. I saw the customer the other day when I went to pick our butcher's order up. He still has rats in the house and I still decline to deal with them because he and his wife are too thick to put edible stuff out of reach. You can't help some folk.
  18. Those maps demonstrate the real problem for Russia. Unlike many other European countries Russia has no mountain range that would hinder enemy tanks. Between Moscow and the Western powers is a vast flat plain. This has always been seen as a potential weakness especially how easily the Germans advanced in WW2. That is why Stalin was desperate to annex buffer countries as repatriations after WW2. Those countries were the Iron Curtain. All those NATO countries that used to be in the Russian control means Russia is vulnerable to any attack from the south.
  19. Like DIDO I charge a monthly fee rather than per mole. If I charged per mole I'd be skint. I've just done 17 visits over 200 miles and not seen a mole. Just how the customers like it ? Seriously. If you just do it for a bit of rabbitting permission you'd be selling yourself short. You can charge AND ask for permission. It isn't either / or.
  20. See if they will hire you what you want for a reasonable fee.
  21. Are there any equine s/h shops near you?

All you would have to do is go into IKEA. There are people in there who don't know Elvis is dead. Still looking for the exit.

It is TV so there is no chance that the producer is not knowing where you are. Let's face ir. If you just 'disappeared' as some people have and could, there wouldn't be a program. The cameraman will be ratting you to the production team and they will be linked to the hunters. It is as much reality as Big Brother.
  24. It doesn't hurt to dress as they will be dressed. Tattershall shirt, moleskins or corduroy trousers, brogues, etc. Consider looking in charity shops for a cheap costume. Doesn't matter if it is worn as long as it is clean. When I used to drive round Nth. Yorkshire asking farmers for shooting permission that is how I dressed. First impressions count for a lot. If not, then as has been suggested; smart casual.
  25. It is all about exploiting the natural resourcss of these countries and locking them into buying their vehicles, machinery and arnaments from them. It was the same with the Yanks in the anti-Commie years. Russia have lost a massive chunk of their historical exports when the Iron Curtain came down.
