  1. Why was he convicted in a British court for an alleged offence in a battlefield on foreign soil? On the other hand at least he wasn't sent back to Afghanistan for trial there. A pardon is required asap imo. The police simply should have ignored the video when they got hold of it - the police used to at one with our armed forces.
  2. To my eyes it is both. Shiny legs with some uneven white marks.
  3. I heard this on he radio earlier today. Very sad and tragic. RIP to the baby and I hope the injured child, at least, is OK. It really doesn't bear thinking about though.
  4. Stick them on freecycle.https://www.freecycle.org/browse/UK/Wales
  5. What was she planning to do with them?

    Organ Donation

I am on the donor list, but your relatives do need to be careful that you don't get knocked off to early by over zealous medics, eg see here.

    Disgusting

That was my thoughts after the first few seconds of watching it.
  8. The facts speak for themselves. That was f'in disgusting and those 5 girls should get a decent stretch inside, no ifs or buts about it. However they'd probably come out worse!

    Watching Kes

I am sure I mentioned this before, but we did Kes as a school play and we used a real kestrel. In fact I fed it with some sparrows shot with my air rifle (at school), at the request of the teacher producing it.
  10. I am sure it's a good head torch, but there are now lots of CREE head torches available on eBay for less than £20. It's got to be worth a look, at least.
  11. I use 3lbs line and freelined breadflake on a size 12 hook.
  12. Looks just the sort of place i'm looking for. They also have a small camp site, but I am not sure when it closes. I can't get you any discount I'm afraid, and I don't get anything for referrals, but if you do want to mention that you were recommended, the owners, Tim and Sally, know me by my real name of Leighton. And if you want to go to the North coast, it's only about 45 mins. Another place we have enjoyed staying in the past, but don't know what it's like now, is Llanhydrock Farm cottages, here - again also a working farm. However they look almost booked for end of September.
  13. This place belongs to some friends of mine and as well as the cottages to rent, they have in indoor pool which is great in bad weather. It's right on top of the picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey and several major attractions nearby. Coastal walks via the farm itself.
  14. Great pictures of the red squirrel frankel. I've seen a black squirrel round my area a couple of times. Apparently they are a mutation of the greys. There is (or was) a study, but some of the links seem dead right now. It's here https://nbn.org.uk/biological-recording-scheme/black-squirrel-project/
  15. Fair enough. I don't think there is any denying that extremist views are being propagated in some places, but I have my doubts about that particular clip.
  16. Is this validated footage? There is no indication in the video of where, when, what school, whether it was a Muslim only school (which presumably it is meant to be), etc, etc.
  17. It's interesting that there seems to be some that are OK. In fact thought I passed some youngish ones the other day that looked OK, so I am going to go back and have a closer look soon.
  18. That's interesting. Whereabouts is that?
  19. Does anyone have any healthy horse chestnut trees in their area? Here are a few pictures of some of our local horse chestnuts trees taken last week. They are all suffering with leaf miner infestation and have been like this since around mid July. I've not seen any healthy horse chestnuts anywhere in England for several years and the only good ones I've seen are in mainland Europe, although I haven't looked in Scotland (yet). I am surprised there isn't more publicity about this. It is crying shame to see thousands of these tress all over the country with dying leaves in July and August ever
  20. That's great - thanks for putting up the video.
  21. Probably the greatest leader we ever had
  22. However there was Thatcher .
  23. I am sure this must be on another thread, but has everyone voted no here ?
