Agree that no-one intended this to happen, and sometimes tragedies have to happen for the lessons to be learned and to avoid them happening again.
But.., for senior officers to lie about what happened, and for witness statements to be altered or buried, then without the truth lessons aren't learned and so those 96 people then died for nothing. That for me is the unforgivable act.., the betrayal of those poor souls by the police, who are supposedly there to serve and protect, so that a few could avoid any criticism or blame.
The liars should go to jail..., no matter how long it takes.
