  2. LAST TIME I WENT PIGEON SHOOTING (ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO) i shot a young woodie, no white markings yet on its neck
  3. very funny has anyone else read his books, i have a few of them, i think the shotgun at the beginning is his, in the book he tells the story of a fox that was killing his kids chickens, he decides to seek revenge and waits up with his berretta 12gauge and some night vision goggles that looked like a berretta to me! whilst waiting for the fox to return, he drinks a bottle of brandy suffice to say he thought he saw the fox and actually shot another of the chickens and his wifes sun lounger he tells the story better than i can
  4. there's the cure then, any more problems threaten to take her to the vets and she will recover and pull you home glad she is ok now
  5. dont mean to look like a prick but what do you mean when you say bobbery pack from what iv gleaned does it mean a pack of small hounds or terriers that hunt rabbits??? sorry cheers exactly right a small mixed pack is a bobbery pack,
  6. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/sunsong/UK%20Teckel/ukteckel.htm contact the society secretary Brenda she may be able to help. Brockbart on smoochers has just had a litter and sold them all, Ruger8 (i think thats his username) on here got one from him, I have a teckel x, and may breed from her in the future to a cat A teckel (see the teckel society gradings on the link mine is a C) mine is good at bushing rabbits, has caught a fair few in thick cover, she has killed a few rats, bolted/flushed several foxes and muntjac and also speaks on a line , she is very brave and has had a fight wi
  7. make your own we rarely eat burgers in this house, due to the shite they put in burgers and sausage's. Christmas i got bought a mincer and now i make my own bunny burgers you can buy mincers with a sausage making attachment
  8. In my limited experience, i would reckon an outcross to a show type could be OK, however there is no substitute for a decent working hound, but if you have to use a show dog, i would try and pick one that has the shorter coat. I beleive Paul Sagar's dogs were/are the shorter coated types, and all the clips of the arabs coursing with salukis in the desert show the shorter haired type.I beleive the longer haired types have more show type blood and are bred more for appearance. Me and my brother had a saluki hybrid when we were teenagers(he was smooth coated), he was very trainable, i bel
  9. I would say a Baikal too, i have two, a single barreled .410 and a semi-auto 12gauge.... I would say get the semi-auto if you can I have shot everything with mine in the 18months i have had it, from mallards to muntjac, with lots of rabbits and a few pigeon thrown in, i also have a spanish side by side (this was my first gun) and now i use exclusively the semi-auto, the side by side is my spare and the .410 is my lads have a look at this link-stuff i have shot since last july, doesn't include all the rabbits or woodies http://www.freewebs.com/ferretingandy/shootingpics.htm

    muntjac

They stick pretty much to dense cover, it would have been difficult to get a running dog behind one pre-ban without a few good hound types pushing them from the cover first. Local shooting estate near me culls them by having a muntjac drive, this is the only real way to make an impact on them in large blocks of dense woodland, stalkers only shoot a few at a time on a good day as muntjac are very illusive and really like very dense bramble or rhododenrums , a days driving can account for 30, using 12gauges and AAA shot, beaters and guns walking in line. I have shot a few using a 12ga
  11. Read this when Jasper first posted it and bought some butter, copied the text to family to spread(no pun intended) the word, however just re-read it since Professor Ditch Shitter started his scientific work funny as feck....i cant wait for the next pics and the conclusion
  12. I Have a few rabbits in the freezer if she wants them, i will charge the same as yourself
  13. he has got confused with the game laws, rabbits aren't game and can be taken any day of the week (and year) game cant be taken on a sunday etc, read the 1831 game act on the back of a game licence (if anyone still buys them )
  14. Haven't seen any ESS x JRT's but Archikale on here has a litter of Cocker x Patt's, wouldn't they do, same thing terrier x spaniel http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=17955
  15. to the butcher £1 in the skin £1.25 skinned, privately £1.50 Thing is the butcher aint ripping me off, he only sells them at just over £2, so i reckon £1.25 is a good price, he can take as many as i catch, and he always wants them.... the lad who sells them to the bloke who has a stall in London, do you know what he will be charging for them? i have seen a "farmers" market in London and they were a fiver for half a rabbit recently speaking to a bloke who has a stall at Bedford, he was charging £4 for half a rabbit some folk really ripping people off,
  16. I really need to take my camera back to the shop as it is flashing up "Zoom Error" so no pics of today, i went ferreting after lunch for an hour or two, i took a polecat that i got off bobnets from ..........., and the one albino jill that i hardly ever tend to use....i decided no nets, just the Baikal semi auto 12gauge and i would shoot (well shoot at) whatever bolted, suffice to say bolted more than i came home with, but i came home with 3 rabbits , which i dont think is bad for 2 hours leisurely ferreting  However the polecat did the same trick she did last time i worked her, nam
  17. i would like to know what incident was disturbing? Muntjac do breed all year, so sadly the does will usually have young or be in young, nothing you can do about that.............there are loads round me, a local shoot i know has a muntjac/vermin drive every march, that seems the only way to cull large amounts (last time i went they shot 27) beaters and guns in line (no dogs) walk through the large woods and shoot them with 12gauges loaded with AAA, the distance is always less than 30 yards as the wood is so thick you cant see much farther All are shot bucks, does and young. i am no
  18. good going borderboy not had a decent ratting session since i was a teenager but my teckel x has accounted for a few when out walking in hedges and at the side of lakes/streams good pics, and decent bags in those two pics
  19. I have two pens, the smallest is 2metres by 2.5metres, the other is about 2metres by 3metres, teckel in the smallest the spaniel in the larger one (the larger pen goes behind the shed and uses up space other wise wasted thats why its only approximate measurements-it is probably bigger than my estimation) as said the bigger the better, i wouldn't be able to guess sizes, but they need space to go to the toilet well away from their food and water and sleeping area/kennel/box
  20. probably means the person you asked didn't know where the forms were, they wont hand many out so probably didn't know they had any a letter to the firearms enquiry officer at the local old bill HQ should get you one sent, he will know where the forms are
  21. i doubt a smoker would penetrate deep enough, remember rat holes are narrow and near the surface, fox earths are a lot wider and often very deep, so you would need the smkoe from a power station chimney to get deep enough, a petrol strimmer wont do it
  22. nice looking pup's why all the hostility unless the parents are dug to twice a week, the lad never said they were fox dogs and never lied trying to sell them, he was very very honest, the father has done some bushing and ratting and the bitch has done the above ground stuff and run through a few earths, not an ardent digging dog if i wanted another dog they would do for me, ferreting, shooting, ratting etc..perhaps even foxing
  23. grammatically correct, but you spell it GRAMMAR
  24. okay cheers when it comes to breeding, im no good at working stuff out its not breeding its maths easiest way to work out fractions in dogs is to go back till all parents/grandparents etc...are pure, in your example there would be 3 greyhounds and 1 lab (grandparents) then add the total number up so in this case its 4, your that say 3/4 (at grandparent stage 3 pure greys) grey and 1/4 lab (out of the 4 grandparents 1 was a lab crossed to grey again and its 7/8grey 1/8 lab etc....(7 pure grey great grandparents and 1 lab great-grandparent) I think that a lab cros
