  1. baldie and foxgun tom, summarise my thoughts, a poison chalice that too many have been stung by i used to buy it religously when it was the shooting news, it was a decent read then Llyod on Lurchers,Daergi, and that american woman Teddy something, then it tried to be too wide, it moved away from its roots and it's core, (its core was ferreters, terriermen and lurcher men) now with too wide and bland article's (plus there have been certain unpleasantness generated by that magazine that have hurt people i know) suffice to say my subscription ran out at the begininng of the year and i wo
  2. may i suggest, planting some veg then, not to eat, more habitat management
  3. I hope you wrapped it in gaffer tape to stop it bursting............... Couldn't resist ......... sorry i was going to say, hope Mr Squirrel didn't come home arly and catch you together
  4. obviously you wouldn't actually be re-intoducing rabbits, as we discussed that's illegal, but yes you could introduce different strains of myxi and other ailmenst that as you say the local population dont have any immunity to however if there were no (or very few) local rabbits then it wouldn't really matter..... Much better to leave the land for a year, no hunting/ferreting/shooting and create good hedges and brush piles for cover, if the habitat is right the rabbits will come thats why everything thrives on keepered land
  5. Damn f*cking right it is! I don't believe I'm reading all this! Now, to quote Baldie ~ seemingly about the only Moderator still active on this entire forum ~ speaking on the 'Millet' Thread, only last night: " What part of It Is Illegal don't you understand?! " FFS, lads! What next? 'Why shouldn't I use my firearm to hold up a bank?' ? 'Why should I not have sexual relations with that nice little twelve year old down the road?' ?!? Let's bring on the badgers!!! What is UP with you guys??? Where's Chris Jones? Where's Any Moddies? Hasn't Millet seen this ....? Guys; Scre
  6. i think perhaps you need to look at children from deprived area's of the world(proper starvation/malnutrition not kids in the country put into poverty by there parents spending the dole money on drugs/cigs/booze), a child that has not been fed correctly will attain adulthood, but they wont be as big and as healthy as they should be! this is a fact!
  7. criminal offence, but the plod wont know this law and wont care either problem could be neighbouring farmers/landowners if you get seen, as under the agricultural pest act, the whole of the UK (with the exception of the city of london) is a rabbit control area and every landowner has a duty to operate control methods, and you are liable (civil court now) for damage done by rabbits living on your land to others crops. (railways get sued all the time by farmers) However as has been said if a few domestic rabbits (that just happen to be marked like the wild rabbits you ferreted earlier)
  8. last one who didn't agree said why kill those rabbits you can buy rabbits at the butchers in town, i pointed out that i sold most of my rabbits to them , where did she think they come from anyway she shut up and fecked off then
  9. nice net indeed, may i ask how much? i am considering getting another longnet, when i have either saved up or won the lottery
  10. saw a pic of one in a newspaper article recently, i think it was at an animal sanctuary
  11. in british law cat's are classed as wild animals, THEY ARE NOT CONSIDERED DOMESTICATED, (thats why you dont have to report the accident if you run one over) and as we all know wild animals belong to whoever's land they are on at the time
  12. agricultural pest act 1954.....look it up if you can be bothered but it is illegal to release pest species back to the wild any pest species once caught must be despatched humanely, thats why the RSPCA releasing "injured" foxes is so wrong they blatantly ignore the law, however if the rabbits were to escape from a rabbit pen, like the gun dog trialler had but dont get caught  when i lived on the farm where i grew up, i obviously made a massive dent in the wild rabbits, several of my dark coloured domestic rabbits escaped  and after a year or so there were load
  13. yes they will, just not this christmas
  14. whats the best size? length and thickness mine are about 30 inches (although some are shorter as i have snapped the end off ) and about as thick as your little finger (i have big hands ) so the net is set about 2 and a bit feet off the ground when you allow for a couple of inches in the earth
  15. well they work on my 100yard 6oz net! I did have to make the hoops by bending the end round, and i used sand paper to take off any rough edge's, but they took me 5 minutes to adapt, and only cost a few quid from a camping shop, you will have to go to a camping specialist and i think they are what are used on marque's
  16. all my poles are free.......a sharp knife and find a hazel bush/hedge
  17. good going, i would have been nervous having a dog loose near the road, was it a busy road? I have had interesting conversations with passer's by when ferreting at the side of a road, i have also sold a few rabbits that way
  18. Here's my longnet all wrapped up, you can see the end pin's they are 12inch tent pegs that have had the ends bent round the white cord is just to help hold the pins together when they are in the bag, as you can see the net has been fed onto one pin and the other pin and lines have been passed round the net until it is held on the original pin
  19. in my opinion medium sized jill's are best, in fact any jill that will work, size is really comparative, i wouldn't go on a fruitless search for "greyhound" ferrets My uncle who has been round ferrets and hunting dogs longer than most on here have been alive, said to me last time i saw him, " greyhound ferrets, the reason we used to be able to find such small ferrets was for one reason........they were malnourished as loads of idiots fed them on bread and milk ........he then told me about how he has always fed meat and that in his opinion the small ferrets he used to see were a resul
  20. fecking hell, thats an awesome dig, i get claustrophic i wouldn't have liked to have been at the bottom of that hole, besides i am a fat ba****d so would have needed a wider hole true dedication well done both of you
  21. I gave exactly the same advice to my father (he hasn't a clue about dogs ) as he has bought a toy yorkie for my little sister and that was eating shit, I reckoned possibly needed something it wasn't getting (calcium or vitamins) advised him to get some SA37 and/or some calcium supplement! ditch shitter great minds etc.....
  22. true adrenalin can carry an animal a fair way, i shot a fox this summer from about 15 yards, full in the face with 42gm of BB's, it jumped and ran to the nearest brambles (about 20 yards) where it was laid stone dead?
  23. obviously did i realised it was a joke as i was replying but thought i would post anyway i did once blag it in a shop with 1 of my dogs though, i did tell them it was a hearing assistance dog in training, now when they ask as i still have her, i told them she failed the course she isn't allowed in the shop now
