if i remember right i think it was 27lb mate, i had one a lot bigger earlier this season though but i never weighed it what do they feed them fecking foxes the one pictured looks big enough, one bigger never seen a fox that big, never weighed one, but never seen one that big that i thought it worth weighing, whats the average weight of a fox? (only ever been digging a few times and have shot a few foxes, so not a lot of experience of fox size's)

guide dogs are mostly labs but not all....there are some Retrievers and GSD's and a few crosses (i used to work with a lass who's husband was blind his dog was a GSD x. there are also disability and hearing assistance dogs, the hearing assistance dogs are often terriers and cross bred's, you should have said you are a puppy walker for hearing dogs for the deaf and that you are socialising the pup and teaching it about post offices, Trust me i have used that once it worked for me

just read that, i will have to go and hide several things in my bedroom now

agree with the colour thing, better than a red lakie or a grizzle border or my dark coloured teckel x, also easier for a running dog to recognise in a hurry also JRT's are easier to come by and it wouldn't necessarily need to be from digging stock if he just wanted a bushing terrier, in fact a terrier from digging stock could be a problem or how about a spaniel? or a spaniel x terrier? (there has been a few spaniel/terriers advertised on here and M oochers lately)

totally agree, me and the wife saw a chav in a souped up hatchback run over a cat (he did it on purpose) he then drove off, the cat made it to the hedge, the Rspca didn't want to know and refused to come out called the police, they sent a vet, the police paid for the emergency treatment , no one came forward so we ended up with the cat, he lived with us for a few years before gettingfatally run over (guess he wasn't very good with roads :11: ) point being they are a bunch of feckers that think they are an authority (as in police etc..) rather than a lefty charity with a political agen

Thats quite true, if brought up and allowed to explore/learn and see other dogs hunting most small dogs will work cover, however I still think a small hound or hound cross would be the best bet, as said beagle x Jrt or similar, mine is a teckel x border (same principle hound and terrier) give's you the drive and scenting ability weren't there a lad on here selling beagle x jrt pups a while ago? found this on the for sale forum :11: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=15844

i agree with the other lads, let her do some work and see if she is worth breeding from, borders are still very babyish at that age however bitches very rarely stand at 10 days, usually nearer 12, you need to watch the colour of her discharge, when it changes from red to clear then she may be ready, also run your hand down her back and her flanks and if she moves her tail to the side she is ready, Dont just leave them together, hold her while he mounts and mates her and hold her whilst they are tied, too many dog's are put off by the bitch snapping and trying to move away (especially w

i would second that, e-mail Kaye, she has all kinds of lurchers needing a home, some have a history others dont, she will help you find what you want and help out a dog that needs a home

trust me....woburn isnt even in oxfordshire matey...its about 45 mins drive away.. , but yes there are CWD down there....good luck and please let us know whow you go on I live about 5 miles from Woburn :11: No it aint in oxfordshire-its north Bedfordshire very near the border with Bucks, there are more munties than rabbits where i live, please all bear in mind that in the 1960's a wall was blown over at Woburn and 12 muntjac escaped, from those 12 we now have muntjac all over the south east, i think the wild population is 35,000 or something I used to beat on a sho

I cant remember the exact amount but i was carrying the bag for the old boy who was lamping with his lurcher (a half sister to my first lurcher) and i was holding at least 5 rabbits in each hand plus 2 hares and several in a rucksack :11: i remember willing the rabbits to escape :11: and she kept catching them  we had over 20 head of game at the end of the night, and i had to carry most of them

I knew a lad who had two bull/grey x saluki/grey, they were strange looking dogs, they had saluki ears and bully heads :11: they did the job, but not as well as the 3/8 saluki 5/8 grey i bought off him as a pup, he also had an adult saluki/grey that was lethal on bigger stuff (all pre-ban)

http://www.topkit.co.uk/kennels.htm This is where i got mine from, the cabins are well made with anti-chew strips, and the panels are really easy to put together, i didn't want just square run's as they wouldn't have fit in the end of my garden (round my shed and back gate), so i measured up and ordered different sized ones to make my own custom shaped pens and they work great , one pen is 2.5 metres by 2 metres and the other is 2.5 metres by about 3.5 metres, one pen opens into the other so during the day if the dogs aren't in the house (which they usually are if we are at home)

Good to see someone doing the right thing by their dog, i had a lurcher break a back leg running a rabbit when i was a teenager , you have to watch them as they dont think they are injured, my dog ran out the house with the pot on and scaled a 5 bar gate luckily she landed fine on three legs :11: but my heart was in my mouth........ Yours sounds a lot more serious than the simple break mine had, hope she comes good and has many happy years...... The break mine had healed well and she had a really good career after that accounting for loads of rabbits , plenty of hares (and i mean p

Agree 100%, last sunday took my father in law and my 8 year old lad out with a couple of shotguns and the ferrets, my lad had a shot at a bolting bunny and missed but my father in law , who has never shot anything live in his life , accounted for two rabbits, and the second one was a blinding shot at about 15-20 yards as it weaved through a hedge The farm we were on has several footpaths, i always talk to people and say hello, talked to a bloke out running, a bloke out walking(he was very pro-hunt and shooting) and two birdwatchers, the birdwatchers were a bit anti (they couldn't look at
