    big hobs

I only work medium sized jill's, not small jill's who dont have the stamina or large ferts that cant get down a rat hole when needed, the only hob i own is the vasectomised one, i have 4 medium sized jills and they very rarely lay up and dont leave rabbits below ground either and are also used for rats when the need arises. I have worked hobs and have to say a ferret is a ferret below the ground but hobs do struggle through nets and are no use for rats, plus they are more capable at killing a trapped rabbit where as my jills (this is all assumption we dont see what happens below ground) ca
  2. i can see the rabbit, you set that net poorly, when the milk ferret comes out it will be disappointed
  3. mackay , just like to point out nothing against the scottish or welsh people, just that old miners and old dockers make up a lot of voters and have obviously influenced there kids to follow suit and vote labour we need the welsh and scottish tory constituents to try harder and change it for us all, but do you think they will be able to change cardiff, swansea and glasgow??? edited to add, regarding the scottish Mp's it really is a disgrace that everyone has a vote at Westminster yet only scots can (rightfully) have a say in the scottish parliment (same for n.ireland and wales) yet they

  7. A lot of truth from the bald one shouldn't have started this as i am getting more and more political as i age, the labour party has always had a large celtic influence, and shame on SJM for not recognise the great scot that has done so much for these isle's We should have an english prime minister for england, didn't you all wonder why he was so keen on devolution but stopped short of letting the english be devolved, basically without the welsh and scots being so stupidly red and labour voting england would be a conservative country, at the last general election over 70% of england v

  9. lots of people use hound cross terriers, i have heard lots of good stuff about these little bushing hounds,my uncle knows a bloke in yorkshire that has several JRT X Beagles he said they are ugly but useful dogs and very keen on foxes i myself have a border x teckel (teckel being a working bred daschund) and she is very very dedicated when in bramble and undergrowth and wont leave until all rabbits are either pushed out or she has them in her mouth she is 18months old and has caught over a dozen rabbits in hedgerows plus a few rats and miscellaneous (including a fight with a muntjac tha

  12. Interesting point, i think it is perfectly legal to try and block escape routes to favour the dogs when control vermin/rats, the 1911 cruelty to animals act was brought about due to the large un-ruly crowds that rat pits and dog fights attracted, not because of any real concern for animals welfare here's the act read it for yourself http://www.webtribe.net/~shg/Protection%20...1%20c%2027).htm I think there is a definition in law of a wild animal and a trapped and then released animal, the trapped and then released animal would constitute baiting but the one thats never been in captivi
  13. my brother used to have a border cross JRT, it looked like a border but with a slightly smoother coat and longer muzzle, a very game and hard working terrier, didn't have its tail docked as it was border like and short (ish) and thick

    channel 4 now

the rabbit was upsetting, the wife walked off refusing to watch any more, she doesn't mind stuff being killed, (she has been with me since we were teenagers and has seen enough stuff being killed) the inept fool made a right mess of the first and when it started to scream it pissed me off, i didn't notice the state of the kennels, but nearly fell off my chair laughing at the hunt, 1 adult beagle and 2 five month old griffon vendeens, the pups just played and the beagle ran off and the commentator was hilarious "rita the beagle didn't spill any rabbit blood, just her own" then the huntsma

  18. put this on the thread on deerstalking :- I live in buckinghamshire about 10 miles from woburn, yes there are lots near me i beleive they are as far west as Salisbury plains and all the counties around london i.e. kent ,surrey and sussex have a few, i heard of a few in scotland , i believe they were a more recent release edited to add, mr Darcy i grew up near leeds and i know there are a few near Lotherton Hall that escaped from the deer enclosure, when someone cut through the wire on the back of the enclosure about 18 years ago, they moved into the thick forest between loth

  21. Mr Burns i did say a "certain section of american hunters", i didn't mean them all , perhaps i should have made it idiot (read american) proof by adding a "small section" , I am glad that moves are being made to make this illegal, and yes we (English) had deer parks but no one has hunted in a deer park for hundreds of years, these days they are just preserves used as attractions on country houses and other area's that have tourist's (the only deer killed are culled by a professional to maintain the herd and this is done when the public aren't visiting) and tame birds are not released and
  22. JILL I get on better with females than male's! I prefer jill ferrets as i feel they are harder working and more adaptable, jill's also in my opinion seem a lot less inclined to lay up with rabbits and are the only option where rats are concerned. That said though if you have an entire jill then you need a vasectomised hob to assist bringing her out of season? thats why i have 4 jills and a vasectomised hob the jills do most of the work (i do occasionally take the hoblet out when my son wants to work him as he is his ferret really) and the hoblet waits until spring to perform
  23. This is funny, i also point out they are hypocrits and that they eat meat but are just too cowardly to kill there own! (sorry for those who have read this story before) i was ferreting a hedgerow at the side of a road, a lady comes over and asks what i am doing, i explained, she was appauled and said but why do that you can buy rabbit at the butchers in town, she soon shut the feck up when i pointed out thats where i sold my surplus and she realised she was inadvertantly a customer of mine
