With sub 12ft/ lb air rifles and being resolutely old school, i`ll stick with the hold over/ under school. At 12 ft/lb level and using light weight 7.87 g pellets permanently, hold over is rarely required until i`m pushing out of my comfort zone of a 38 yard zero.( no caliber debate intended). At 45 yards to 50 yards, a half mill dot hold over is all i`ll ever use with the Mamba scopes. "At sub 12 ft/lb ranges" i like to keep things easy and quick to follow.

You are enjoying that 100 John. Nice shooting again mate. atb Mark.

What a fine hunting spring rifle they are. atb Mark.

All my rifles are German, bar two. I also own two properly, built to tradition, British Air Arms rifles that boast German barrels and Minelli stocks .

Nice write up and read Jimmy . Sounds like you all had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Glad to see you back with some wind in your sails too mate. Told you, you would get called " Jimmy Bang! Bang! " - if you keep feckin missing atb Mark.

Don`t get me started on that fella Mitch, "he would" sell a HW 100 without a scope, bi pod , bag etc, etc. "Blokes like him need the money".
-
Most are "selling up" when selling a HW 100 or just need the money.
-
Rifle only, i would agree Sean but many sell with the " trimmings" as well, which ups the price.

Part exchange in an RFD against something brand new and in the upper leagues expect £450 to £ 550 i`d have thought. Sell private, i would try and get near £600/ £650 if possible if it`s in as good a condition as you say. Good luck

Hunting with the Air Arms Pro Sport .177.
mark williams replied to mark williams's topic in Airgun Hunting
To be honest Robo, there is very little difference between the top springers other than personal preference. There is no tuning required of the Pro Sport whereas there is a lot of benefit gained by tuning a 97. My 97 has been highly polished internally and a Sandwell Field Sports kit installed. My Pro Sport is untouched. Here is a tuned 97 card. Here is a Pro Sport card. Just your own personal preference is the difference for me. -
Superb, accurate hunting rifles the Pro Sports. Took another very elusive Jay at 43 yds after a 2 hour wait. Instant despatch. atb Mark.

It`s enjoying the ride on your old 97 .177 Simon. I am presently looking at the Hawke l4 reticle scopes for my classic 77 and FWB Sports 127, 124. Old post, i know but very relative. The L4 reticle is deadly accurate but i`m looking at the extra three mill dots in the range, coupled up with a light weight .177 pellet, i suspect some very good groupings/ bags. Lovely hunting reticle, take a look on Hawke scopes Reticles l4 dot. atb Mark.

Not aware of these scopes Mitch ? I`m on the look out myself and have been weighing up the Hawke Airmax 4-14x40 and Vantage, EVX 3-12x44 and keep getting a whisper in favour of the Niko Panamax range ? Good luck with it atb Mark.

Now that`s a " proper set up" Phill Again, shooting mate.

Jimmy, I would like to say more but cannot. I could not imagine you without the wind in your hair ( or where it used to be) , sun on your face, out with your mates having the craic , missing everything you shot at . As per. Then coming on here using my photos for your hunting threads. I`ve gone through very similar as you have had to mate. Phil`s a good, wise lad mate, bring the blue 97 home Jimmy and another "big ditto" to Mitch`s comments. My very best to you all.

Compliments on your shooting Phill , excellent shot placement Phil, we would love to know/ see, which gun you were using, scope and caliber, etc, etc. ? Not sure about the others but usually, we are nosey atb mate, Mark.

Well lads i fancied putting the Pro Sport to the test tonight. Remember the practice/ training i put into these rifles ? Well i put a full leaf suit on, face mask, gloves and sat among the disused poly tunnels and undergrowth precisely 35 yards from a dead sitty tree. I was after one of the most elusive pests there is, the Jay. A good few of late around here and the nursery owners wanted their numbers down a little. A "true test" for spring rifle hunting. His Lordship`s retrieving to ha

To pull a shot off like that must have put the confidence levels through the roof. Fair play to you mate, superb shooting atb Mark

Nice shooting lads and great write up Jimmy . Not sure if it`s me and my mind but when mixy is about, i always feel that the rabbits i shoot are dripping with fleas ? Getting out a bit Jimmy, enjoy mate. atb Mark.

Compliments on the new permissions Phil. Do be careful though mate as it can become a job at your expense, rather than a lovely hobby. I`ve been there , " once only" and never again. Best wishes, Mark.
