  1. Stick with the pellet choice Steve AA Diablo Field are superb with this rifle. One thing that did shock me about any pellets (all makes) you use is that you quite often have to "fine tune" your zero when you run out and open a new tin , i kid you not lads check the zero on a newly opened tin and re-zero. atb
  2. nice read, great video that fox was hungry atb
  3. good shooting mate, It gets hard to miss with the HW 100 KT 177 doesn`t it atb
  4. Fiji is a tad further away than Notts mate .
  5. nice read mate and good shooting.Well done
  6. Hi Guys, I was lucky enough to be a passenger yesterday going down the M6 and A50 to Nottingham from near Wigan where i live . To pass the time i thought i`d count the rabbits i`d see running about or road kill. The trip is approx` 200 miles returning in the evening and all i saw was one rabbit feeding,no road kill whatsoever. In the centre of Nottingham at the university they were everywhere inc squirrells and woodpigeons galore. I was in Nott`s for a family funeral so when at the cremetorium they were everywhere again, i even considered asking permission
  7. Great write up mate, The gillie suit is great, atb Mark
  8. Hi mate, I`ve just treated myself to a new HW 100 KT in 177 cal and spent nearly four full evenings in an indoor range with it, it ended up where i could manage groups inside a 5p piece "easily" and then a drawing pin like Si and Davy do (am i blowing my trumpet here ? ) zeroed to 35 yds on the button. I`m so, so used to the 22 cal and springers( 40 yrs) that the pcp in 177 was a complete new ball game and the accuracy and trajectory amazed me, and this gun literally turned me around. Hunting with the 177 is an eye opener and i found that shot placement is everything
  9. Yeah i do the same and the crows, magpies, squirrels, pigeon etc,etc get so used to it being there that if you use several hides and use each one sparingly they just dont know your there.(very effective) atb
  10. What or which hide do you use mate and do you add camo` netting etc, etc ? atb
  11. Hi Craig, I didn`t know that the Jersey seasons are "salt & pepper" atb mate.
  12. Hi Ghillies/lads Yes might take him around the farm yard or sit him up in the barn where theres a round opening window looking directly onto the other barn roofs where he can use the bipod and be in pitch black to the outside world at dead on 30 yd shots. Happy days.
  13. Hi lads, Yes the saying "it`s all well and good" inside on a range - yeah mate i agree but my lads 2nd outing lets get his confidence first, and using the 177 trajectory sure helped that.I have used the 22 calibre constantly since i was a 12 yr old so yeah i`ve had 39 years practice, the 100 kt is my first ever 177 calibre rifle and i`m really enjoying its trajectory and speed. Now that i`ve spent some money on the 100 and hunted with it a lot i am more than ever convinced that for myself that not having to "compensate" hardly helps greatly in accuracy farther out.
  14. Took my youngest son down to the indoor range today (his 2nd visit) and its his 2nd only shooting session.(he`s v, nearly 16) My 100kt 177 is zeroed at 35 mtrs for "me" my lad hit everthing he went for with it. I got friendly with the guy shooting next to me he was shooting a Theoben rapid 22 and we swapped guns to evaluate the trajectories,- he was gobsmacked at how "forgivingly flat" the 100 kt is,- sorry lads i was horrified with the 22`s trajectory (it was like using a mortar) after 30 mtrs. - I shot cross hairs "dead on" a 15 mtr target with the rapid 22 m
  15. Hi Craig. I use the hw 100 kt 177 zeroed on the button at 35mtrs at my local indoor range i will bring it down to 27 mtrs for hide and woody shooting. If i dont get chance to bring it down from 35 i`ll give around a half milldot hold under but i always pick spots on the trees to check my scope on as the 100 is virtually silent . Not always possible to get within 27 mtrs i know but do try as the no hold under or over is lethal. atb mate.
  16. Great to read, my respect to you and yours. atb
  17. Hi guys, I popped into my second home (gunsmiths)yesterday to buy some barracudas in 177 i was told the hollow point subject doesn`t enter the equasion and is simply a sales gimmick, i was told" If your obtaining very tight groups with AA acupel diablo fields -why change"? 177 is used by me for head shot only and hollowpoints make no difference. So i`m sticking with AA acupels for my HW100 kt the accuracy is amazing. atb
  18. We have all pretty much covered the subject ,nipping back to camoflauge though and the "natural hide",camo` netting and a "full ghillie suit" is a deadly combination with meshed eyes. Coupled with a 177 rifle(for me) zeroed at 27 yds there is no hold under or hold over required. Happy Days Craig/lads.
  19. Hi mate, The previous thread is bang on, go out withought the gun (you will concentrate much better) and make note of the weather and the time of day and the month you are in.Do this on a regular basis and learn their habits on your permission. You will soon learn how to intercept their habits,- but do "your learning of their habits" always at distance. Build a "natural hide" as close to their habits as you can get when you know they are not around and let them get used to it being there,- then strike. best wishes
  20. Hi mate, Yep the lads at my indoor range put me onto Air Arms diablo field 177 for my HW100KT 177 i am putting 5 pellets inside a 5p group time after time at 35 mtrs - even Si`s drawing pin is often achieved with bi pod and bench rested. Shot 4 woodies (headshot) out of 5 attempts the other day - gust of wind made me snatch and miss the 5th shot. I`ve got my eye on trying out the H&N Barracuda Hunter Extreme hollow point at about 10 grains weight and nudging 800 feet per second - 177 with clout atb, Mark.
  21. Hi mate.(on a very still day or inside a barn or simmilar) I`ve always drawn a vertical line about 12 inch in height on some paper or cardboard, take a good bench rest and try to hold the gun as near as possible to how you normally shoulder it on top of a good cushion.Put a mark, dot, in the middle of the vertical line and aim a shot at it from say 10 to 15 yds max`-- now forget all else -- just adjust the left or right until you hit the vertical line shot on shot in the same spot no matter how high or low the group. Now mate pick your hunting distance your already zeroed virti
