  1. Hi guys, I popped into my second home (gunsmiths)yesterday to buy some barracudas in 177 i was told the hollow point subject doesn`t enter the equasion and is simply a sales gimmick, i was told" If your obtaining very tight groups with AA acupel diablo fields -why change"? 177 is used by me for head shot only and hollowpoints make no difference. So i`m sticking with AA acupels for my HW100 kt the accuracy is amazing. atb
  2. We have all pretty much covered the subject ,nipping back to camoflauge though and the "natural hide",camo` netting and a "full ghillie suit" is a deadly combination with meshed eyes. Coupled with a 177 rifle(for me) zeroed at 27 yds there is no hold under or hold over required. Happy Days Craig/lads.
  3. Hi mate, The previous thread is bang on, go out withought the gun (you will concentrate much better) and make note of the weather and the time of day and the month you are in.Do this on a regular basis and learn their habits on your permission. You will soon learn how to intercept their habits,- but do "your learning of their habits" always at distance. Build a "natural hide" as close to their habits as you can get when you know they are not around and let them get used to it being there,- then strike. best wishes
  4. Hi mate, Yep the lads at my indoor range put me onto Air Arms diablo field 177 for my HW100KT 177 i am putting 5 pellets inside a 5p group time after time at 35 mtrs - even Si`s drawing pin is often achieved with bi pod and bench rested. Shot 4 woodies (headshot) out of 5 attempts the other day - gust of wind made me snatch and miss the 5th shot. I`ve got my eye on trying out the H&N Barracuda Hunter Extreme hollow point at about 10 grains weight and nudging 800 feet per second - 177 with clout atb, Mark.
  5. Hi mate.(on a very still day or inside a barn or simmilar) I`ve always drawn a vertical line about 12 inch in height on some paper or cardboard, take a good bench rest and try to hold the gun as near as possible to how you normally shoulder it on top of a good cushion.Put a mark, dot, in the middle of the vertical line and aim a shot at it from say 10 to 15 yds max`-- now forget all else -- just adjust the left or right until you hit the vertical line shot on shot in the same spot no matter how high or low the group. Now mate pick your hunting distance your already zeroed virti
  6. No wind up lads (Hancocks) just an honest question about the breed Collie lurcher first cross for all round ability to a shooting family. Best wishes, Mark.
  7. Hi all, I`m looking for a good working dog for rabbits/lamping and ferreting and also to work as a gundog,i`ve heard that the collie lurcher first cross is a really clever and capable dog and would fulfill these roles. You lurcher men really seem to know your dogs and hopefuly might help me with your knowledge of these lurchers. Also guys what are the opinions of buying such a dog from a specialist breeder such as Hancocks ? Thankyou for any advice. Mark.
  8. Hi All, After much thought and many, many years using 22 rifles(all springers) i have bought a hw100 kt 177 after being amazed with the accuracy of this rifle at my local indoor range. After the advice of the clout a 22 gives to the advice of 177 is far superior in accuracy i thought - well i`m shooting out to 45yds max`and my rule is head shot only. I was not dissapointed 5 shots gave 4 wood pigeons and a miss (gust of wind) I have found 177 extremely efficient for head shot, my pellet choice through advice again is AA field diablo. Any advice
