  5. has anyone ever owned a pure bred bedlington for any sort of cover work?? I know that bedlington whippet X's are sometimes used for bits of cover work and I believe they are quite handy little tools in this department so just wondered how a pure bred would differ or possibly improve cover performance?? any comments appreciated, ATB, Tom Heavy
  6. cheers baz, I was ideally looking for spaniel/terrier/beagle mix or somewhere along those lines but like the look of the pure bred terriers, thought I would keep my options open but as you rightly pointed out I would deffo be better off with a bushing mongrel. I've been talking to the fella called willow a bit, i like his lines and he has pointed me in the right direction ATB
  7. alright lads, looking for a well bred terrier pup, cross's or pure breds will be considered. Its main job will be to work cover but will deffo want it for some ground work in the future, please contact or write back if you know or have any litters available. cheers, tom heavy
  8. stunning pup mate, hows it bred? did u bag any bunny's?
  9. have a coat on each of mine whilst in the kennel during the winter months due to their smooth coats. I use blizzard fleece lined coats and they spot on, keep em warm and dry when you need to
  10. look on youtube footage on natural born hare killers. There's a larl dog on there called 'sally' what a beast she was!!
  11. young pup with limited experience, just carry on and try to concentrate on retrieving with skin dummy's or whatever your dog likes, the more he handles live catch the calmer he will be in that situation, I wreckon he is just getting over excited whilst doing his job, see the season through and see if he improves. ATB Tom Heavy
  12. the sandy one is a demon, she already quite a bit bigger than the silver, can't wait to enter these, at what age does anyone feel that this is necessary?
  13. very true, the one... ferret kent...i try to discourage them biting my fingers even in play, leave that to your kits, or make a toy, i use a small toy on a bit of string. they love it
  14. having just got my kits, i dunno if i cud shoot 1 in the head with a rifle, especially if it has brought me good sport and memories, however i most certainly won't be taking it to a vet to be put too sleep like that!! i will have to call my mate me thinks...god hope that stay well for a fair few years yet!! ATB Tom Heavy
  15. cheers demon, i'm sure they will be great, i've got loads of time for these!!
  16. alright lads, just got my first pair of kits, well cool! they 8/9 week old a silver and a sandy. The dog has never seen a ferret before so got a bit of a task, i think he is doing extremely well, as he is very steady. the box is getting extended and developed further, need to get some sort of playground sorted for them just getting them used to being handled, collars on/off. In and out of box, introducing dog etc here they are...
  17. looks like its going to be a decent tall chunk that!!
  18. mainly bush rabbits near me (barrow), hence the desire for a cocker/terrier/beagle type. This will have to wait till next season tho to concentrate my efforts into my current learner (me also) Field rabbits are few and far between but i'll do my best and see how we go!!
  19. great read that, sound like my kind of outing!!
